Two main stories interwoven: Presentation of Old Gesher Members of Gesher successfully defended their kibbutz, which was a strategic point in the path of Arab armies into Israel. Naharayim Experience presentation Pinchas Rotenberg, the founder of the electric company, established a hydroelectric plant here on the Jordan and Yarmuk rivers. Beyond the border fence, access path to the Jordan and the Israel-Jordan border we cross the border fence (in coordination with the IDF) and arrive at the border that crosses the Jordan River. 4 Educational tour "Here they Turned Legend into Reality" Settlement Old Gesher Members of kibbutz Gesher heroically defended the kibbutz, which was a strategic point in the path of the Arab armies into Israel. During the fighting, the settlement's children were evacuated on-foot in a nighttime escape. We will view a heart-stirring film that presents their story, and visit the original fighters' bunker. 5 Tours and workshops at Gesher Heart-stirring meeting with Amos the boy who walked barefoot during the nighttime evacuation of children in With the establishment of the state of Israel, one of the fiercest battles in the campaign takes place at Gesher. Thousands of soldiers of the Arab armies attack the small kibbutz, which then constituted a "gateway" into Israel. The Jewish fighters at Gesher did not despair, despite having to wage an inconceivable battle of multitudes against only a few. They succeeded in the task of defending the settlement and the border. During the difficult battle, some 50 small children were evacuated. Amos, then a six year old, was one of them. Meet him, and hear his experience of that same night. Price NIS 350 net. A combined package for your group The group first arrives to the "Legend of Bread" and, wearing chef's hats and an apron, prepares the most delicious focaccia bread. The visit to Legend of Bread includes sangria (alcoholic) to warm up the atmosphere + homemade lemon-mint beverage. In the meantime, while the focaccia is baking in the oven, we'll tour the site, cross the border fence on the banks of the Jordan, and view the three historic bridges: Mamluk bridge, Roman bridge and a British bridge each of them a remnant from a different empire. We'll view a presentation of the "Naharayim Experience", about a man and a legend, Pinchas Rotenberg, and the unbelievable electric plant he established. We'll become familiar with the story of the dramatic battle that members of Kibbutz Gesher had to fight in We'll see a film and tour the original fighters' bunker.
