2 Project Background Get a graphic designer fired up about the current political and social climate, and you get a one-stop philanthropic ice cream shop in the middle of Times Square. At the Women's March in Washington, D.C., Chelsea was inspired by the way the ideas and passion of a few individuals could spark incredible collective action. Wanting to do more but with little money to give, she decided to use what she did have: her conceptual design talents and her connection to Times Square.

3 Project Description Sometimes we all want to scream at the top of our lungs. The world's a mess, and there are no simple solutions. It feels like you're being constantly bombarded on all sides: the good, the bad, the terrifying, the complicated, the utterly bizarre. And whether you're feeling outraged, scared, or even triumphant, you always want to keep doing something about it. We at I Scream! wanted to give you a place to express yourself and take action!

5 1. I Scream in protest! I Scream of the Day Each day I Scream! posts a scream of the day, inviting both physical visitors and digital onlookers to submit their scream via social media. Select screams are posted on the back of the I Scream! kiosk. #IScreamTSq

6 2. I Scream for ice cream! Ice & Vice Craft Ice Cream Ice & Vice is an innovative start-up started by friends Paul Kim and Ken Lo that specializes in handcrafted artisanal ice cream, sorbets, and frozen yogurts. In 2014, Ice & Vice won the Vendy Award for Best Dessert. They ve been featured on the Cooking Channel's "Unique Sweets," The Chew, and Business Insider, and were recently named NY Magazine and Grub Street's "Absolute Best" ice cream shop. In 2015, Time Out New York named their Tea Dance flavor one of the 100 best dishes in New York.

9 4. Get the full scoop Armed With Info Non-profits are encouraged to provide printed materials about their mission, informing customers and inspiring them to contribute additional donations.

10 Design With A Purpose I wanted to play on the aesthetic of a retro ice cream truck and mute or contrast the vibrancy of political signage, and give a slight nod to the typical political palette with the blue and red on the bottom strip of the kiosk. -Chelsea Lipman

11 Changing the Public Conversation about Times Square "I Scream" has generated significant positive press coverage: The Village Voice called it "the most exciting thing to happen in Times Square since the Clash destroyed it at Bond's in Gothamist said the kiosk is "as brave and bold about frozen sweets as it is about supporting organizations that are feeling anxiety under the current administration."
