The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and the flowers are in full bloom. Spring has arrived with residents embracing the chance to enjoy the sunshine and outdoors. Residents have been enjoying their regular morning strolls in the sunshine and sipping wine, beer and soft drink over our Tuesday BBQ lunches on our new and improved balcony. The Residents are delighted with the outdoor balcony improvements thanks to the tireless fund raising of The Friends of Glenview Auxiliary and our hard working Environmental Services Team. The improvements include a lovely array of sensory plants that appeal to touch and smell as well as potted colour, wind chimes and sun catchers. Residents have also been sharing delicious picnic lunches prepared by our wonderful Catering Team on our Bird Watching outings to Benalla and Yarrawonga. Resident have also tapped, sang and clapped along to musical favourites during our regular monthly Morning Melodies sessions at the Corowa RSL Club, our regular in house entertainer Kaylene Katzer and a lovely Sunday morning visit from Chiltern Singers. History hour at Corowa Federation Museum has been a step back in time for our History Buffs and of course who can pass up the homemade Anzac Bickies and a cuppa. We recently learnt some interesting facts about the History of The Corowa Chocolate & Whiskey Factory. Which was once a Flour Mill employing many of our locals. Grapevine Newsletter Page 1 of 11

2 The Winner of our hotly contested Glenview Footy Tipping Companion was announced recently during our Annual Footy Finals Fever Day. Once again Rutherglen Cats Football Club President Mr Greg Lumby did the honours of presenting the shield to this year s winner Mrs Cheryl Lister, who was delighted with her efforts. Hot on her heels in 2 nd place was Mr George Westerway and 3 rd place Mr Graeme Fraser. Of course Cheryl now has her name on the shield and the bragging rights to go with it. While some of us are left holding the wooden spoon, at least some we are consistent! The day was full of colour, fun and atmosphere with many residents dressing up in their favourite footy team colours, and there were JUST A FEW Tigers supporters, along with their mascot. The Rutherglen outside School Hours children joined residents for a good old hand balling comp, footy bingo and a footy feast of pies, sausage rolls, quiches, apple crumble and fairy cakes. So, once again, we have had a hive of activity with thanks to the support of our dedicated team of committed staff and volunteers. Until next time, Please take care. 4 Reminders Due to fire and safety precautions any person who is a visitor to Glenview Residential Aged care must sign the Visitor s Register upon arrival and departure. Please also write the proximity tag no. into the book. Quiet time 1.30pm to 2.30pm daily. All food donations (includes any food items brought in for a resident) must be registered in the Food Safety Register of Donated Foods at reception (read below information). Your thoughts and suggestions are valuable and we would greatly appreciate any customer feedback whether it is a compliment, suggestion or any issue that you may have. Visiting and Outings We encourage family and friends to visit residents anytime. Our Quiet Time is between 1.30pm and 2.30pm daily, but you are still welcome to visit at this time. To help us know who is the facility, should there be an emergency, please complete the Visitors Register located at reception when you arrive and when you leave. Access to Glenview during business hours Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm is by the use of a Proximity Key Tag located in a basket beside the Visitor s Register. Please record the Proximity Key Tag number in the register. To enter and exit: WAVE TAG in front of the Proximity Reader (black pad) on the left of the door entering and on the right when exiting. Please ensure the door is closed behind you. If doors stay open, use the door release button located on the dividing wall. Return tag to basket when signing out. 5 Food Safety Program Food is handled and prepared, purchased and stored according to the Food Safety Program. Residents, family or friends may bring in food, if the resident prefers. However, foods of high risk such as, poultry, fish, dairy products, meat, eggs, and rice brought in by the resident or family /friends must be consumed at the time of being brought to the facility. Staff must not store these food items or reheat them. Foods must be stored and transported to the facility in an appropriate temperature controlled container e.g. esky). Food of low risk such as, biscuits, unfilled cakes and fruit are acceptable to be stored and served. Any food donated is kept and stored in the dinette refrigerator or cupboards, and not brought into the kitchen. A Register of Food Donated/Brought to the Facility is maintained and located in Reception near the sign in register. Chiltern Op Shop DONATIONS WANTED!!! Do you have an overflowing wardrobe or unwanted goods?? Make a donation of good quality, clean and reusable goods to Indigo North Health s Op Shop located on the corner of Conness & Main St, Chiltern. All donations are greatly appreciated! Items can be brought into either our Rutherglen or Chiltern campus at Reception during business hours. RESIDENT / REPRESENTATIVE MEETING To be held on Wednesday the 11th of 2.00pm in the Dayroom.
