3 Welcome to our 25th bull sale. After 25 of these, this is still the hardest part of the whole sale, coming up with opening comments. When looking back just year to year there doesn t feel like a lot has changed, but when we flipped through the first years, the changes are huge. We feel that we are going in the right direction. The cow herd is a moderate, easier fleshing herd than ever before, which in turn has made a moderate, very well developed bull pen. There have been a couple of new sire groups brought in. Rust 23C has brought a thick, moderate group that will have a bright future. He calved so good we used him in the heifer pen last year and will see a large group of cows as the daughters are just as good. Super Duty brought a performance set that are all the nicest cherry red. The old guys haven t let us down. Luongo and Bootlegger are finishing off their careers here with a good honest group that might be their strongest yet. Cobra will always have a special place here as a go-get-it-done and always brings the best. He will be hard to replace. Goon and Singletary round up the Simmies with nice sets of blacks that we hope to make a larger group. In the Angus, a new sire Right Turn has caused a stir. Couldn t get him bought to walk but were lucky enough to purchase a semen pack. Only two in the sale and four daughters that all calved like a dream, so we used him again on all the heifers and hope to get a cow or two flushed in spring. Boss has ones that will go into the heifer pen or the cow herd to fit your program. Acquire has left his mark on the last group, lots of growth. The bulls were sold off the farm in the early years as the dream started in the early 80s. After all those days gone by, there has never been regrets and we will not look back. Delivery Free delivery of bulls at the purchaser s risk to points within a 350 mile radius of Rosemary. Delivery beyond the 350 mile radius will be at cost. Delivery will start April 15. Bulls may be kept at Janzen s free of charge until delivery. Should the purchaser wish to extend the bull s stay beyond this date, the cost of feed and care will be $3.00/day/bull. Each bull becomes the buyer s risk when sold. Insurance will be available at the sale and should be purchased for bulls left at Janzen Ranches for feed and care. For U.S. purchasers, we will do the tests and make delivery arrangements to suit both parties. Semen Testing All bulls will be measured and palpated by our vet. With the bulls not being over a year off age, we will test the bulls in the warm weather, around the end of March. All bulls have been double vaccinated against foot rot. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE JANZEN FAMILIES ON THEIR 25th ANNUAL BULL SALE!!! The longevity of this event is validated by the high percentage of annual repeat customers. I don t know if we at Transcon Livestock Corp., manage any other bull sales that would incorporate such a phenomenal level of repeat customers! Correction, I don t know if there is a bull sale out there, anywhere, that can boast the same record as Janzen Ranches on satisfied, confident, continuous clientele! The proof of a highly maternal cowherd that extends for generations on the papers with Janzen mother cows combined with a solid dedication to own the best herdsires that they can own outright and have them physically exist in their Southern Alberta environment and work with this herd that has been bred for generations of basic goodness, particularly feet, udders and natural growth is a solid summary of the Janzen Ranches breeding program. The herdbulls aren t frozen in a tank nor do they have show championship banners hanging in their sale barn, not that those are necessarily bad attributes, but the Janzen s have used a real world basis to create these successes and a product that is demanded by the repeat clientele base that has evolved. The Red Simmental side of things will see a new sire group, namely the sons of the Rust Mountainview bred bull, Rocket. This is a group of hairy, easy doing type bulls that virtually come right down the middle and will be a very versatile commodity. The Cobras will again be noticed, with their extra growth and bone structure. The Loungo fraternity are almost all out of first calf heifers and hold their own in the bull pen. I think a real feature this year are the Copper sons. Copper was the high seller here in 2015 where only a 1/2 interest was sold which Parview Stock Farms at High River purchased for $15,000! There are only two sons on offer as he was used sparingly in his first year because of the partnership, but you will find them easily, and will for years to come. The Black Simmental bulls will have a cross section of type included from calving ease, maternal bulls to performance driven, thick muscled bulls all sired by Goon and Singletary. The Red Angus division that always has loads of quality will see the new group of Right Turn sons in it this year. These low-birth, naturally muscled guys push the scale down! The spread from birth to yearling is impressive on the scale. Add to them the solid group of sons by Acquire that have some wonderful growth factor to them again as they have in the past. You will also notice some dark red, standout sons of Boss that have some extra red meat! The SimmAngus section is bigger than ever. This is an interesting combination that brings both of the Janzen Ranches purebred herds together in a genetic mesh to give the best of both! EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. HEALTH - It is the buyer s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties, and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken, must be between buyer and seller. The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
