Founded in 1995 and based in Mendoza, our organization represents wineries that account for over 95% of all wine exports from Argentina. Our goal is to advance the cause of Argentine wines throughout the world, drawing attention to their great variety and quality. Argentina's history of winemaking dates back to the 16th century, providing us with a tradition of wine consumption lasting over 300 years. However, it is only in the past 20 years that exports have begun to develop, an extraordinary fact given that we are the fifth largest wine-producing country in the world. Today, with an industry producing truly world-class wines, we are one of the fastest-growing countries of origin, showing significant and continuous increases in exports year on year. There are many factors that contribute to the success of Argentine wines: the vast and varied range of terroirs; excellent climate (including many days of sunshine with little rainfall); pure, clean water from the Andes mountain range; advanced technology; and sophisticated vineyard and winery management. The recent influx of foreign investment is a clear vote of confidence from leading wine-producing countries such as the US, France, Chile, Italy, Spain and Portugal. There has also been significant investment made by the producers themselves: in the vineyards, in the wineries, and in the education of their winemakers. Bienvenidos! Susana Balbo President /
