Epiphany Party Saturday, January 10th Ball Saturday Jan. 31st 7 Hello Krewe, Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It s already almost Christmas and then it will be Mardi Gras Season! What we wait and work for all year long. I would like to thank everyone who showed up for our Krewe Christmas party and for the awesome amount of donations we received for the children. Just seeing everyone together, for a great cause was a great feeling. We appreciated your generosity and we will post pictures when we get them. We have a busy season with a lot of fun ahead of us. Our Epiphany Party is scheduled for Saturday, January 10th from 6-10pm. This is one of the best parties of our Mardi Gras season, open to the public and only $20 per person! Our annual Krewe Babalu Ball is set for January 31st and again will be held at the beautiful, historic Tremont Hotel. We will be celebrating the beautiful history of Galveston Island and some of it s famous landmarks such as the Balinese Room. Ginger is our Ball Chair and I m sure this will be one of our most nicest balls yet. Tickets are on sale now and are $25 (registration fee) for members and $125 for non members. Next Meeting: Tues, Jan. 6th Our 2013 King Baba & Queen Lu Kevin Croft & Sandra Resendez See the flyer on page 4. This is always a great Mardi Gras event and all members should definitely not miss it. We have renegotiated and blocked 20 more rooms for the night of the ball, so call the Tremont Hotel, ask for In-House reservations and the Krewe Babalu rate of $179. After the ball, Mardi Gras will be in full swing with parades and parties. We hope that all of our members, old and new, will get involved and help make this a successful and fun season for all of us. We need help selling tickets for our balcony parties (info on page 5) and our float rides. If you would like to help sell Balcony Party tickets, contact Gladden Walters at gladdenwalters@gmail.com. Our parade prices will stay the same as last year. I hope to see you all at our next meeting on Tuesday Jan, 6th and then at our Krewe Epiphany Party on Saturday, January 10th at 6pm, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Christmas holiday and New Year! Your President, Jason Honeycutt Den Party Friday, February 6th Gambrinus Parade Saturday, February 7th Babalu All Krewe Parade Friday, Feb. 13th History of Krewe Babalu. Krewe Babalu of Galveston was founded in 1995 by Guy Taylor. The purpose of our organizations is to promote Mardi Gras festivities on Galveston Island and to promote civic and social activities within the organization and the city of Galveston. We are a Texas Non-Profit organization and on November 16th, 1999, we received our certificate of incorporation and became officially known as Krewe Babalu, Inc. We are a member of the Galveston Chamber of Commerce. From a very small membership with big dreams, we have grown into the best and most fun Krewe in Galveston today. Our scheduled events include Epiphany, with the crowning of the Royal Court and the start of the Carnival season, a Den party, the Krewe Babalu All Krewe Parade, Halloween party, Christmas party, Bowl-A-Thon, a Bar Crawl and of course, Mardi Gras with all the parades and parties, including Fat Tuesday! Each year is new and exciting and you don t want to miss a minute of it!
