The relatively new restaurant is located in the Albertson s shopping center at Rancho Bernardo Road, where Bernard O was previously located. 2 October Private Salon Saturday, October 29, 2016 The next Private Salon will be held on Saturday, October 29. The topic will be the 2016 Presidential Election. Representatives from the Republican, Democratic and Libertarian political parties will be present to help lead the discussions. An Italian style buffet dinner with appetizers, desserts and Italian wines and soft drinks will be served. The Salon will be held at Plaza Maria in Rancho Bernardo from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Send your reservation and $28.00 fee to Jack Kaufman, PO Box , San Diego, CA by October 15, I suggest you make a reservation as soon as possible; the first Private Salon sold out early. A waiting list will be kept. For additional information, contact Jack at Carlsbad Desalination Plant Tuesday, November 29, 2016 We invite you to visit the largest, most technically advanced and environmentally sound desalination plant in the western hemisphere, the Claude Bud Lewis plant in Carlsbad. You will have the opportunity to observe the state of the art process of turning water from the Pacific Ocean into high quality drinking water that is now serving nearly a half a million San Diegans. You will also be one of the first individuals to sample this new water supply right from source. The plant was opened on December 14, 2015 and produces 50 million gallons of water per day. All attendees must be in closed toed shoes with no heel, long pants and have a photo ID. Guests must also be able to walk a mile with no sitting or resting and climb 2-3 sets of stairs. There is a maximum of 15 people for the tour per the desalination plant management. Contact Tim DeMarco at tdemarco1@san.rr.com or call before November 22. Bring a SMALL appetizer or dessert to share and wine of your choice Sunday Supper Club meets several times a year at members' homes. Each dinner party group is limited to eight, with some flexibility such as having some parties of 6, depending upon the number of people who sign up for the designated date (Sunday evening of odd months). The host/hostess sets the theme and time and provides the entrée and accompanying wine. The "guests" provide the appetizer with wine or cocktail, salad or cheese course with a wine pairing, and dessert with wine or after dinner drink--as desired. The supper party groups differ from the wine groups in that they are smaller and include a "sit down" dinner. It is expected that each couple (or two singles) take a turn at hosting the event. The Old Bold Pilots will meet at 7:30 AM on the second Monday of each month at Denny s for a no-host breakfast with camaraderie. We welcome all former or current military and airline pilots only. First Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Enjoy an exciting performance by Todo Mundo (All the World) recipient of the SD Music award for best World Music in 2014 & 2015 at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Get there early, free seats go quickly. Oktoberfest: Various Bavarian style beer garden are being held in the greater San Diego area from September 30 to October 7 & 8. La Mesa holds its annual Octoberfest from September 30 to October 1. El Cajon s extended event is held Sept. 30 & Oct. 1 & 2 and October 7 & 8. Carlsbad s event will be held on October 1 at Holiday Park and Encinitas will follow-up Oktoberfest will be held on October 2. The largest Oktoberfest in San Diego will be held on October 7 & 8 with a minimum of 9 bands playing over the weekend, 8 Bavarian beers, 6 local specialty beers and 4 others, games, contests, and German food, and races. September 30 to October 6: Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 3-day Guided Tour Albuquerque Mass Ascension, Evening Glow, city tour, time in Old Town, then 2 days in Santa Fe. Cost, $1998 door to door, $1349 land only. Care, Concern, and Joy Our condolences go to Meg Harari, wife of Joe Harari who passed away the week of August 22, and also to the family of Ken Roberts who passed away on July 18.
