1 Rancho Bernardo Newcomers Social Club Newsletter May 2016 For anyone who has lost their copy of the newsletter, you may always go to the Website and obtain the same information ( Upcoming Special Events Day at the Races July 27 We have been invited to join Oaks North Travel Club to attend a Day at the Races at Del Mar Race Track on July 27, It s going to be a special day with a luxury bus taking those who join us, picking everyone up at the Oaks North Community Center parking lot at about noon. It is suggested that everyone park in the last four rows of that lot for easier access to the awaiting buses. Ten tables have been reserved in the shade on the Terrace at the track. Servers will take your lunch menu orders while you are studying your betting sheets. Tables are located close to the betting area, near the finish line and in view of the score board. Coaches will arrive well before Post time and depart after the races are finished. The price of $45 includes transportation from RB, gratuities, and a reservation on the terrace. Contact Helen Harte at or Gladys Bernabei at to reserve your spot. Mail checks to Helen at Plaza Dolores, SD Visit to Historic Camp Pendleton We will visit the Historic Santa Margarita y Las Flores Ranch House Complex on May 11, Of all the Marine Corps bases throughout the world, Camp Pendleton has one of the most intriguing pasts. Spanish explorers, herds of thundering cattle, skilled vaqueros and now tough Marines have contributed to the history of this land. The Santa Margarita y Las Flores Ranch House Complex is the 8,500 square foot ranch house built circa It is the center of the ranch and also of Marine Corps Base life at Camp Pendleton. After the tour, perhaps we can arrange lunch at a nearby restaurant for those interested.
2 For a reservation please contact Tim DeMarco: tdemarco1@san.rr.com, Phone As this is a US military facility, your name, driver s license number with the state of issue and your birth date is required. Sorry about the birth date, but we swear we will tell no one. We will meet at 8:30 AM at the Ranch Bernardo library and carpool to Camp Pendleton Marine Base for the tour beginning at 10 AM.
