Hall. This building in Saint Paul has been their home since its construction in It was declared a National and State Historic Site in 1977, placed on the National Register of Historic Sites, and is the oldest theater and national hall in Minnesota. The building has been home to The Glockenspiel restaurant since 2000, and is currently family owned by The Ziegler s ( Martin and Joyce ) Since Martin Ziegler was born in 1965 in Donaueschingen. He is more specifically from Haslach im Kinzig Tal, a small town in the Black Forest near the Swiss and French borders. He went into an apprenticeship to become a Master Butcher in Wuerzburg, Germany and graduated best in class. Martin s father, Rolf, was also a Master Butcher in the Black Forest region and taught him the trade since early childhood. Food Service and butchering has been in Martin s family for generations. Martin s grandfather was a Chef and hotel owner. Martin s mother comes from Passau and grew up on a farm. The main house on the farm was converted to a restaurant after WW2. Martin came to the US in 1989 and has continued his love of sausage by opening his own butcher shop and meat market ( Deutschland Meat ) in 1999 in Sanborn MN. Grow to a another location in 2005 Lindstom MN. Where you can still find a old fashion German butcher shop. Martin has several handwritten family recipes from his mother and grandfather that are used in The Glockenspiel everyday!
