1 Newsletter for November, 2017 Bottineau Public School 301 Brander Street Bottineau, ND (701) Learn From the Past; Build for the Future Mission Statement WE#ARE#COMMITTED#TO#PROVIDE#OPPORTUNITIES#THAT#ALLOW#ALL#STUDENTS# TO#DEVELOP#THEIR#POTENTIAL#INTELLECTUALLY,#SOCIALLY,#AND#PHYSICALLY#IN#A#SAFE# ENVIRONMENT#AS#THEY#PREPARE#TO#MEET#THE#CHALLENGES#OF#A#DIVERSE#GLOBAL# SOCIETY.## Notes from the Superintendent..Pat Brenden Dear%Patrons,% It%is%hard%to%believe%that%the%first%quarter%came%and%went,%it%also%looks%like%winter%is%knocking%on%the%door% and%of%course%another%fall%has%passed%where%i%procras=nated%ge>ng%things%done%and%am%now%ge>ng% caught%up%when%everything%is%s=ff%and%cold.%%someday%maybe%i%will%learn?% I%want%to%remind%parents%to%encourage%your%students%to%dress%appropriately%for%the%weather,%you%never% can%determine%when%a%bus%or%vehicle%will%break%down.%%with%winter%comes%addi=onal%challenges%for% schools,%especially%in%the%transporta=on%department.%%we%will%work%our%hardest%to%assure%that%buses%run% on%schedule%and%on%=me,%but%as%snow%accumulates,%roads%require%addi=onal%care%when%transpor=ng% students,%so%if%that%means%slowing%down%which%will%push%our%pickeup%=mes%back%a%lifle%please%be%pa=ent% and%work%with%us.%%our%goal%is%to%get%every%one s%child%home%safely.%%when%assessing%winter% transporta=on%snow%accumula=on%is%of%course%a%concern,%but%my%priority%for%student%safety%is%wind%chills.%% Drivers%can%determine%if%a%road%should%or%should%not%be%aFempted%but%they%have%no%control%over%the% wind%and%we%all%know%that%it%can%get%brutal%at%=mes.%%if%wind%chills%get%into%the%extremes%it%may%be%that% the%school%will%not%run%a%morning%pickup%with%buses,%student s%afendance%will%be%accounted%for%in%these% rare%occasions.% During%October%we%had%some%guest%servers%at%both%Central,%Middle%and%High%School%during%the%lunch% period,%i%want%to%thank%each%of%them%for%taking%=me%out%of%their%busy%schedules%to%interact%with%our% students.%%i%believe%that%each%of%them%enjoyed%their%=me%serving%lunch%and%interac=ng%with%students.% The%District s%career%and%technical%educa=on%programs%par=cipated%in%a%5eyear%evalua=on%conducted%by% the%state%of%nd s%cte%office%on%october%11 th %and%12 th.%%not%all%of%the%reports%are%in%at%this%=me,%but%the% exit%interviews%and%mee=ngs%went%extremely%well%with%just%a%few%minor%changes%required.%%mainly%the% need%to%restructure%how%are%boards%are%structured.%%we%will%be%expanding%these%and%will%be%reaching%out% to%our%patrons%to%become%members%of%these%boards.%%if%you%are%asked%i%hope%that%you%will%truly%consider% par=cipa=ng,%your%input%is%invaluable%to%building%even%stronger%and%befer%programs.%%%% We%have%some%events%occurring%in%November%along%with%some%school%closures.%%The%first%Parent/Teacher% Conference%will%take%place%on%Thursday,%November%2,%2017%from%3:30% %9:30,%I%want%to%encourage%all% parents%to%take%the%=me%to%visit%with%your%child(ren s)%teachers.% There%will%be%no%school%on%the%following%days:% November%10,%2017%(Veteran s%day%observance) November%13,%2017%(P/T%Conf.%Day%Off) November%23%%24,%2017%(Thanksgiving%Vaca=on)
