1 50p What s On In and around Uttlesford Produced by Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre April May 2018

2 Sunday 8 April Mayor's Walk around Saffron Walden Part 1: 10am at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre for a 4½ miles walk to the Eight Bells Part 2: 2pm at the Eight Bells for a 3½ mile southerly loop back to the starting point This open event, launched by the Mayor, will provide a rare opportunity to explore the interface between Saffron Walden and its surrounding countryside during a walk around the perimeter of the town. It is being hosted by the Saffron Walden Initiative and stewarded with help from members of the Saffron Walden and District Footpaths Association. As in 2010 and 2011, the route will follow both scheduled public footpaths and access routes agreed specifically for the event on private land. In addition to panoramic views of the church and historic core from higher ground, the walk will also provide an opportunity see the impact of recent housing developments forming a new urban edge and experience their environmental impact at first hand. There is no entry fee but a bucket collection will be taken in aid of the Mayor s charities working in support of those with dementia. You can join the walk for the whole route, or just the morning or afternoon sections, and four-legged family members are welcome on a lead. No need to book in advance Organised with the help of the Saffron Walden Initiative, 2
