3 FOOD SERVICE Providing food and beverage services to full time students is one of the main activities of the Student Centre Rijeka. This service is based on the Regulation which defines the conditions and ways of exercising the right to a subsidy cost of food and beverages for students (NN 120/13 i NN 8/14). Students status as well as the possibility for subsidized food can be proved by the student document called X-card. 8 Student Dormitory Ivan Goran Kovačić Student Dormitory Trsat ACCOMMODATION Student Dormitory Ivan Goran Kovačić, Franje Čandeka St 4, Rijeka In the Student Dormitory there are 648 beds to accommodate full time students of the University and the Polytechnic College in Rijeka. Dormitory has 294 double rooms and 60 single rooms (single rooms are located in pavilions II,III,IV,V). Accommodation service is provided in the period from Sempember 1 st to July 15 th. Among the basic facilities (bed, wardrobe, table an so on) each room also has a connection to the Internet (Carnet) with no charge. Sanitary facilities (shower, washbasins, toiletes) are common and arranged on each floor except the rooms in V pavilion in which there are washbasins. Each floor has a handy kitchen in which there is a cooker, a sink and a fridge. Common areas (external and internal) are maintained by workers of Student Centre and cleanliness is held by users of accommodation students. Within the Student Dormitory students can use the following facilities: food service (menues, dishes and pizzas) in the restaurant Mini within pavilion I (breakfast, lunch, dinner) classroom on the ground floor in pavilion V; multipurpose sports ground (football, basketball, volleyball) room for training ( gym within the workshop facility and on the 9 th floor in pavilion I) Laundry service through vending machines (on chips), drying and ironing services handy space for occasional student parties and celebrations rent settlement service, receiving and issuing mail, receiving and issuing keys, supervision of entrance and intrance of students and their guests, fire and security monitoring all these services are done by reception staff. Student Dormitory also has 8 double room apartments and 5 double rooms to accomodate professors and students at the University of Rijeka. In the summer period (from July 15 th to August 30 th ) accommodation can be used by students in the international exchange or organized by student association at the Student Union of the University and the Polytechnic College in Rijeka as well as any other institutions of higher education. page 8/17

Each room is equipped with two beds, a big closet, shelves, working desks, chairs, hanger and underbed drawers. When moving in each student is consigned a set of bedclothes. The kitchen is equipped with furniture, sink, cooktop and a small refrigerator, as well as some cooking accessories. On the loggia there are a table and chairs. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and sink, while the toilet is separated. In the doorway there are a shoes locker and a coat hanger. Each room is equipped with heating and cooling system, as well as the wifi. page 9/17

Within the Student Dormitory there is Restaurant and coffee-bar Kampus that offers daily menus, meals, pizza and brunch to go. You can find the Student Shop where one can buy essential toiletries, sweet and salted snacks, school supplies etc., as well as the Laundry. The dormitory will also be equipped with: infirmary, gym&fitness, IT classroom, and a TV room in each pavilion. 11 STUDENT SERVICE The activity of Student service Student Centre Rijeka is to mediate and enable temporary and periodical employment and paymant wages for full-time students of the University and the Polytechnic College Rijeka. Student service intermediates between the client (employers) and the executor of work (students). Also, Student service keeps track of equitable distribution jobs. Except full-time students, through the Student Service can work final year students (seniors) who are in the process of enrollment. While joining to the Student service students gets the PIN number with which they can log on to the website and see an overwiev of offered jobs. They can also see offered jobs on facebook page of Student service. Through their PIN students have access to their earnings and the possibility of printing contracts. Student service provides its services in several offices: the office on the 1 st floor of the Student centre Rijeka administration building on Trsat, Radmila Matejčić St 5. Here students can make any kind of services: they can join up Student service, get new contract(s), deliver verified contract(s), make a bill for employers and so on. 12 ORGANIZATION OF LEISURE TIME FOR STUDENTS For full-time students of the University and Polytechnic College of Rijeka and other higher education institutions, the Student Centre organizes: Excursions Sport activities Exhibitions Visits to fairs, concerts, various cultural and social events Various courses like dancing, cooking, photography and so on Spiritual and recreational activities (pshyco physical training in order to improve life balance: yoga, taijiquan, qigong, tai chi, meditations and so on) Art workshops Musical entertainment evenings The plan and program of the events is created for each semester and for each academic year (winter and summer semester). They are located in Akvarij and designed for different social events such as: Lectures Conferences Promotions Symposiums Congresses Round table discussions Cultural events Exhibitions Business meetings Arrangements Seminars Courses Workshops Marketing presentations of products and services Receptions Banquets Parties In Akvarij three rooms are available: The main hall or for lectures and other purposes. The capacity of the main hall is 70 seats. Small Hall is located next to the main hall and physically separated from it. Small Hall is great for group work, workshops, business meetings, training courses, seminars and so on. It can accommodate up to 25 people. It may also be ideal for business lunches. Caffe bar Akvarij (on the first floor) can be used for maintenance and performance of all of the above mentioned services. Since available places are insufficient to satisfy the total number of students seeking for accommodation, a number of students needs to find accommodation in the city of Rijeka and its surroundings in privat arrangement.
