7 Born of two great Limoges porcelain dynasties, Legrand and Lebouc, LEGLE FRANCE is a family porcelain business dating back over one hundred years and noted for the skill in glazing porcelain and its wonderful vivid colors. In 1768, kaolin, a rock rich in fine, white clay which is used for makinxg porcelain, was discovered at Saint- Yrieix-la-Perche, 30 km south of Limoges. A new ceramics industry was developed, and Limoges porcelain became famous during the 19th century. More than 50% of all porcelain made in France comes from Limoges. LEGLE FRANCE has been accorded by the French government the EPV label that stands for enterprise, du patrimoine, vivant (living, heritage, enterprise). EPV is a mark of recognition to reward French firms for the excellence of their traditional and industrial expertise, which is recognition that LEGLE FRANCE has maintained the historic tradition of fine porcelain craftsmanship.
