Being on the western bench the orchard is able to gather the early morning sunshine needed to grow juicy apples. All the apples are grown on the property in a high density planting, which is consequently more eco-friendly, using the farmlands efficiently and wisely. The cider is carefully hand crafted on the orchard by the Dhaliwal family with fruit grown right on the family orchard. There are five varieties which are used to make the signature Summer Cider. A blend of old and new varieties: Macintosh and Fuji apples are the base for this signature blend, creating a true dry style cider. 13 MOON CURSER VINEYARDS Moon Curser Vineyards is a small, family owned winery in Osoyoos, a South Okanagan border town known for its hot summers, beautiful lakes and vineyards. The name pays tribute to the gold smuggling history of Osoyoos. The wines, however, show no such respect for tradition the winery is known for growing unusual varieties such as Tannat, Dolcetto, Touriga Nacional, Arneis, Marsanne and Roussanne to name a few. These varieties have not been a part of history of the South Okanagan, but thrive in the unique terroir on the Osoyoos East Bench. The wines have brought home many a medal, including the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards Trophy for Best Canadian Red for the 2009 Border Vines. The best grapes, wild ferments, concrete tanks, premium barrels, and time are the main ingredients to our winemaking philosophy. Their goal is to showcase these exciting and diverse terroirs. Orofino is Canada s first strawbale winery and recently installed a solar power hybrid system that enables the tasting room and office building to be completely 100% run on solar energy. The system includes roof mounted solar pv panels to generate electricity to power the building as well as special solar panels that are able to heat all of the water needs in the building. A well on the property, fed by an underground aquifer, and naturally filtered from the glacial mountain peaks all the way to the Okanagan Valley free of pollutants and surface contamination, is where we source our pure dark water from. For Grant Douglas Stevely, Artisan Distiller, the name Dubh Glas is also an homage to his family, and the generations who have carried the name before him. Noteworthy Gin is our premiere signature release. It is a hand-crafted, small-batch Gin produced from 100% British Columbian-grown barley, carefully fermented in stainless steel, and then transferred to our German copper pot still. After three precision distillations - two to clean the spirit and one to infuse our botanicals. it is both hand bottled and labeled, which allows us to constantly monitor the quality control process.
