Over time, the Seminar has made its contribution to making Amarone emblematic of Italian products famous the world over. An unforgettable vertical Amarone tasting has been held in the Argento room of the Palaexpo at the Veronese exhibition in the presence of the Italian and foreign press and a selected audience of experts. A 30-year sampling that represented a means of appreciating its many facets and reconstructing the technical, scientific and stylistic evolution of the great Veronese red and its rise to success in logical succession. Taking centre stage at the vertical tasting were two of Masi s most emblematic Amaroni, the Vaio Armaron di Serego Alighieri from the historic estates of the descendants of the celebrated poet Dante in Valpolicella since 1353 and Mazzano crus, the latter produced from the vineyard of the same name with a calling for wine-growing and qualities which have been known since the 12 th century, also in the Valpolicella Classica area, repeatedly defined as the prototype of Amarone. In chronological order through 3 decades of history, from the 1988 vintage to 2007, 8 examples of Amarone were tasted and presented by speakers from the Masi Technical Group, thus highlighting the multidisciplinary expertise of this team at the same time. Sandro Boscaini, President of Masi, known to most also as Mister Amarone, highlighted the historic and traditional aspects of Amarone as the man who experienced this wine personally from its début on the international market. Lanfranco Paronetto, the Technical Coordinator, explained the technical and scientific aspects in greater depth, speaking about the biology of Amarone, yeasts and noble rot in particular. Finally, Raffaele Boscaini, Group Coordinator, illustrated what Amarone means today for consumers all over the world and the major role that it has established in representing Italian products. Raffaele Boscaini ended with this statement: The thirtyyear association of Masi with Veronafiere means that we can now go back over the history, traditions and technical transformations of a Veronese wine that has succeeded in standing out through its unique qualities in the international wine-growing scene. A scientific approach and then knowledge of the phenomena involved constitute the foundations on which to build the Amarone of tomorrow. We hope to be able to meet, perhaps even in advance, the expectations of wine lovers all over the world. 3 campofalco is born: the first canevel organic prosecco The Masi Group has unveiled its latest new product at Vinitaly: the organic Prosecco by Canevel, Campofalco Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG Brut, born from the synergy with Canevel Spumanti, a company based in Valdobbiadene specializing in the production of premium Prosecco, of which Masi Agricola acquired 60% at the end of Campofalco (90% Glera, 10% Verdiso) produced from the grapes of the entirely organic Monfalcon single vineyard is the first tangible outcome since the aggregation of the two Veneto cellars. Federico Girotto, Chief Executive Officer of Masi Agricola and Canevel Spumanti, commented: Campofalco is an emblematic result of the process that led to the aggregation of the two companies. It illustrates the verticality of the supply chain starting from the vineyard which enables greater quality control as well as our sustainable nature and premium positioning. The award, established in collaboration with Veronafiere, goes to the wineries and personalities that have made the greatest contribution to the development of the Italian wine-growing sector towards the United States. Sandro Boscaini, President of Masi Agricola, was handed the prize by the Managing Director of AmCham, Simone Crolla, in the presence of the Mayor of Verona, Federico Sboarina, and CEO of Veronafiere, Giovanni Mantovani. We dedicate this award now in its seventh edition to Masi and Sandro Boscaini for their contribution to building up the reputation and success of the Italian wine industry, an inimitable product, not only by developing their company but also by promoting the excellence of wine and Amarone in America and in the world. stated Simone Crolla. The Scientific Committee of the Industria Felix Award identified Masi among the best businesses according to an algorithm that classified the companies assessed by dimensions by best gross operating margin, with positive ROE, in profit and with a growth in staff numbers with respect to the previous year. The statements of 13,718 companies with registered office in Veneto were taken into consideration. For the second edition of the Il Veneto che compete (The competitive Veneto) award, which took place in Venice at the prestigious Belmond Hotel Cipriani, Federico Girotto, CEO of Masi, and Raffaele Boscaini, Masi Marketing Director received the award at the hands of Michele Montemurro, journalist and founder of Industria Felix. We are honoured to receive the Felix Industria Award, a major accolade that confirms the results that the Masi Group has achieved in the area of its development strategy. Among the parameters considered for assigning the award is the staff figure. In 2016 we increased our staff from 105 to 129 employees (+23%), which was thanks to the targets that we set ourselves at the time of the listing on AIM Italia: growth through external channels, achieved through the acquisition of Canevel Spumanti in Valdobbiadene, and initiating increasingly direct contact with consumers, thanks to the Masi Wine Experience project and opening of Tenuta Canova in Lazise.
