FRIDAY & SATURDAY - 11:00 AM. 12:00PM. BUSY = OPEN Let s Build Our Foundation This Year! By Kurt Wiebe/Director, Membership; Chief Marketing Officer In , our lodges, chapters, and Moose Legions struggled to maintain their membership levels. Despite a modest goal of Plus 1, meaning one more active member on the rolls as compared to the end of the previous year, most fraternal units failed to grow individually and therefore, our membership regressed as a fraternity. In order to grow our foundation of members to support our key endeavors, we need to refocus our efforts in production and retention. This means creating higher value at the local and International levels so that members don t hesitate when a renewal notice arrives. Utilizing proper new member orientations and creatively implementing your lodge/chapter s Preferred Member Program are just a couple of suggestions for realizing a successful year of membership growth. In May, lodges and chapters did a stellar job in producing new members with both sides of the Order increasing production by over 700 members compared to May of last year. Unfortunately, our retention numbers are still lagging and our leadership needs to reinvest their efforts to keep existing members. Some suggestions? Improve communications with your members; start an expired member-calling program; schedule additional activities that respond to the varied interests of the members; survey current members to see what can be improved. Don t wait, now is the time to re-examine your retention efforts so you can reach the goal of Plus 1 by the end of this year.
2 SNORTER PAGE 2 FROM THE GOVERNOR Hello: Another busy month has come and gone. The No Limit Texas Hold em Tournament was a great success, so we are doing it again on July 18th starting at 11am. Registration is from 10am -4pm and they will play until the last player is standing. Beachcombers was a success, we had a huge turnout, the Parade was well attended, and I got a bird s eye view as this year s Grand Marshall, which was a great honor. A big thank you to all of the volunteers for their help. I will be attending the Moose Internationals Annual Convention in Nashville July 1st - 8th, as our Lodge Representative. Remember the Legion is still doing Breakfast every Sunday from 8am 12 noon. Your Governor, Willie Parrett FROM THE SENIOR REGENT Hello Ladies: So far this summer, we have had such wonderful weather. We had a great turnout for Beachcomber weekend, the entertainment, parade; the music and the food were all spectacular. July is going to be a busy month at the lodge, starting with Fourth of July and Waldport s Fireworks on Friday the 3 rd. The Women are having a Picnic Basket/Box Lunch Auction on July 11 th, to raise money for the Activities/Sports Committee, so ladies it is time to show off your creative side and put together some great picnic baskets or box lunches. To appeal to a lot of hungry guys or gals, the more fun we have, the more money we make. Then on July 31 st is a community fundraiser for a 19-year-old girl named Grace Waluck who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant, for more information check out the ad on page 5 for this very worthy cause. Former Sr. Regent Nita McDonald is going to the Moose Internationals Annual Convention in Nashville this month to receive her College of Regents degree, next time you see Nita give her a pat on the back for this wonderful achievement. 5 SNORTER PAGE 6 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE ADMINISTRATOR Summer has arrived in our beautiful city. Our lodge prepared for Beachcomber Days and it was dry, sunny, and yes, windy. A huge thank you to the WOTM, Moose Legion, and the LOOM volunteers who donated so much time and effort. In addition, our Governor, Willie Parrett, led the Beachcomber, Parade sunny, and as the Grand Marshall. On Saturday night, the Fire Dancers performed in front of the lodge to a huge crowd of over 200. Thanks to the efforts of many security personnel, no incidents of any significance occurred. We held our first Texas Hold em poker tournament with solid results for both the players and the lodge. Look for an announcement for the date of our second tournament in July. Please come join us for our weekly meals prepared for your dining pleasure at very reasonable prices. If any member has not been down to the lodge lately, please stop by and see all of the changes we have made and we are very Kid Friendly.
