6 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Burgundy 2011 Domaines R - Z Date & place of tasting shown in italics Domaine Ragot Givry Givry Blanc Champ Pourot The nose is light quite fragrant and fresh and the palate although fresh fruited with green limes lacks a bit of depth. Givry Vieilles Vignes The nose has a hedgerow mix of flavours with ripe bramble on the palate. The mid palate is light with sweeter fruit giving some weight on the back palate. Givry 1er Cru la Grande Berge The nose is a bit tight but the palate has the richness of ripe black cherry and bramble. Bilberry gives a lighter fresher feel towards the back but the finish has a little more depth and sweetness of flavour. Domaine François Raquillet Mercury Rully 1er Cru Grésigny Tasted at the Royal College of Physicians May 2014 Light on the nose with a citric freshness the start of the palate is light flinty and mineral with crisp apple. There is more depth towards the back richer greengage with this sweeter fruit giving a richer feel to the finish. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 6

7 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Domaine Jean Rijckaert Leynes Viré Clesse L Epinet Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The nose is quite light with the freshness of flint and minerals and although on the palate there is some richer fruit the finish is light and citrus driven. Saint-Véran En Faux Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The fresh fruits are fragrant a lovely mix of flavours on the nose. The palate has the freshness of lime and apple quite light with some sweeter fruit showing towards the back Pouilly-Fuissé Vers Chanes Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 There are richer flavours on the nose and ripe melon on the palate. Towards the back the mix of flint and lime refreshes and gives a racy feel to the finish. Domaine Daniel Rion et Fils Premeaux Nuits-Saint-Georges Côte de Nuits Villages Le Vaucrain Although the nose is very fragrant with a mix of red fruits it is very light and the start of the palate lacks a little depth. Towards the back it fills out with some rich fruiter and this gives slightly more weight on the finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes The fruit on the nose is sweet and ripe and the start of the palate has a good depth of flavour and richness of fruit. There are black fruits in the middle with some nice rich fruit at the back. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes The black fruits on the nose are sweet and rich with a mix of black cherry and bramble filling out the palate. The sweetness of flavour is balanced by redcurrant fresher in the middle but the ripeness of the fruit enriches the back palate. 7 Master of Wine: Derek Smedley Master of Wine: Derek Smedley

8 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Vosne-Romanée Le Village There is a good depth of fruit on the nose and richness of flavour on the palate. There is a mix of black fruits lots of bramble backed by black cherry and this gives richness on the back palate and finish. Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes The fruit is ripe the tannins rounded a rich mix filling out the nose and giving depth on the palate. There are fresher flavours towards the back that balance and lighten the richness but the finish has a sweet fruited power. Maison Roche de Bellene Beaune Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne Although the nose has some sweet fruit the palate is light and mineral driven. The richer fruit on the mid palate gives way to citrus freshness and the finish is lean and tight. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Charmes Tasted in the Carlton Club February 2016 Ripe and sweet on the nose the palate has honeyed richness depth of sweet fruit in the middle. Apple and citrus help to balance lighter at the back and although the finish lacks a bit of richness and depth it has length. Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru The nose is deep and has the richness of greengage and there is a fleshy richness on the start of the palate. Towards the back it is fresher lighter with apple and citrus that gives a lovely freshness on the finish. Givry 1er Cru Tasted at the Carlton Club March 2015 The nose is light herbaceous and red fruited and the palate lacks any depth. The mid palate has bitterness green stalk character and there seems to be a total lack of generosity. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 8

There is more sweetness on the mid palate but the freshness of raspberry and redcurrant comes through on the finish Vosne Romanée Vieilles Vignes The fruit feels ripe sweet on the nose and quite rich on the start of the palate. There is depth on the mid palate still very red fruit in character but the finish is light and quite fresh. Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Malconsorts The ripeness of the fruit gives a fleshy richness on the nose and fills out the start of the palate. There are layers of flavour with the black fruits dominating the red and these give a rich feel to the finish. Clos St Dénis Grand Cru The fruit is ripe sweet filling out the nose and giving a rich start to the palate. Black cherry and plum are backed by mulberry an attractive mix of flavours the richness of the fruit filling out the back palate and finish. Clos de la Roche Grand Cru The nose is deep profound with lovely rich flavours. Black fruits give depth on the palate the ripeness of the fruit giving sweetness. The back palate and finish have depth and richness of flavour. Bonnes Mares Grand Cru There are a lot of powerful flavours on the nose with a mix of black fruits. The fruit is sweet the mid palate fleshy with fine tannins. There is freshness towards the back but the finish is rich and packed with ripe fruit. Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru The nose is quite tight and the start of the palate firm but behind there is richness of flavour. The layers of flavour give complexity sweet fruit balanced by fresher flavours still black fruited in character. The finish is rich and long. 10 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Beaujolais Villages Tasted at the Royal College of Physicians February 2013 The nose has sweetness a nice depth of fruit but the palate is fresher with more red fruits showing. There is a bit more weight towards the back but the finish has youthful exuberance. Domaine Romanin Fuissé Mâcon-Solutré-Pouilly Tasted in Lilley March 2012 The nose is apple fresh with sweeter greengage at the back. There is a nice weight of fruit on the palate quite fleshy and peachy in the middle with the apple coming through and refreshing the finish. Domaine Romuald Petit Saint-Véran Bourgogne Chardonnay Tasted at the Innholders January 2013 Ripe melon gives a fleshy richness on the nose and a good depth of flavour on the palate. Under the richer fruit there is some citrus that gives a fresher feel towards the back but the finish has sweetness of flavour. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin Bourgogne Pinot Noir The nose has a fragrant charm more red fruit in character yet there are black fruits at the back. The mid palate is sweet with ripe fruit and there is a good weight of flavour on the finish. Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Bas Liards Tasted at the Domaine June Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 10

11 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 The fruit on the nose is sweet and the palate has depth and richness. Layers of fruit give complexity with red fruits tending to dominate. The back palate is rich and ripe with lots of flavours on the finish. Beaune Les Mariages The fruit is fresh with lots of red fruits all quite fragrant. The start of the palate is light with a mix of mulberry and raspberry and although behind there are sweeter black fruits the finish is lacking in concentration. Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons The nose is misleadingly light with the freshness of red fruits. There are richer flavours on the palate bramble and cassis backed by fleshy mulberry with towards the back raspberry freshness bringing out the fragrances on the finish. Tasted at the Domaine June The sweetness of the fruit gives a fleshy richness on the palate with a lovely depth of fruit on the nose. Red fruited freshness helps to balance band lighten yet the fruit ripeness is there at the back enriching the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes There are more black fruits in evidence and they give more depth on the nose and richness on the palate. The tannins are firm but behind there is sweet fruit that enriches the finish. Tasted at the Domaine June The nose is firm the fruit has depth with a strong black fruit influence. Ripe tannins and sweet fruit give richness and depth on the mid palate and the finish is quite open and sweet fruited. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Petite Chapelle Tasted at the Corney & Barrow tasting Tower of London January 2013 It is quite light but has lovely fragrances with fresh raspberry. The mid palate is also red fruited richer with more red cherry and mulberry. The back palate has fruit freshness quite light lovely and elegant. Tasted at the Domaine June The nose is deep and has lots of rich flavours and the palate starts with sweet rich fruit. It is firmer in the middle with structured tannins and these hold back the fruit to some extent. The finish is long lighter with a fragrant charm. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur The freshness on the nose has a red fruited charm with an attractive mix of red cherry and wild strawberry. 12 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru There is ripeness of flavour on the nose richness and depth with a mix of black and red fruits. The mid palate is fleshy deep sweet fruited then towards the back there is enough freshness to balance and give a fragrant charm on the finish. Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru Tasted at the Domaine June 2013 The fruit is sweet the nose open and the palate broad with a mix of mulberry and strawberry. Black fruits come to the fore giving complexity and richness at the back with the depth of fruit fleshing out back palate and enriching the finish. Chambertin Grand Cru The fruit is rich and ripe lots of black fruits mingling with red currant and mulberry. The richness on the mid palate is balanced by freshness layers of flavour lots of complexity. The finish is long fresher and fragrant. Tasted at the Domaine June The nose is serious black fruited with depth of flavour and there is a lot of fruit on the palate. The fruit feels ripe the tannins fine with powerful flavours giving richness and depth at the back. There is power yet freshness a lighter more elegant feel on the finish. Domaine Roulot Meursault Bourgogne Blanc Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 Although the nose is fragrant and fresh fruit there is little depth of flavour. Some greengage on the mid palate helps a bit but it finishes light and very crisp. Meursault The nose has some ripe fruit a honeyed character but behind there is lots of apple that refreshes and this gives a lighter less concentrated feel to the finish. 13 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 The fruit is ripe rich honeyed and this fills out the nose and gives fleshiness on the start of the palate. The sweet fruit is balanced by freshness but the finish has the richness of honeydew melon. Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Bouchères Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The fruit on the nose is sweet and the palate has a honeyed richness. The mid palate has depth of flavour and although towards the back there is apple freshness the finish has a nice weight of sweet fruit. Domaine Roux Saint-Aubin Bourgogne Pinot Noir La Moutonnière Tasted at Lincoln s Inn March 2013 The mix of red and black fruits gives complexity first some mulberry and then bramble. The fruit feels sweet giving depth of flavour at the start but towards the back the fresher fruits show through giving a lighter fresher finish. The mix of flavours could be overshadowed by beef but there is enough richness yet freshness to partner pork and the poultry dishes. Domaine Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Marsannay Les Champs Perdrix Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 Both nose and palate are light very citrus driven. There is richer apple in the middle but the back palate is lime and lemon freshness. Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The nose has the freshness of red fruits quite light. The flavours are riper on the palate with sweeter richer fruit giving some weight in the middle and at the back. 14 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The ripeness of the fruit enriches the nose and gives weight and depth on the start of the palate. There are fresher red fruits towards the back but the finish has the richness of ripe black cherry Domaine Saumaize-Michelin Vergisson Mâcon Villages Citrus and apple on the nose are very fresh and this mix refreshes the start of the palate. There is a little more weight in the middle but a lack of fruit towards the back and on the finish. Saint-Véran The nose is light fresh quite fragrant but lacking a bit of depth. Fresh fruit on the mid palate is backed by slightly richer flavours that show towards the back and the finish is fresh but lacking in depth. Mâcon Vergisson La Roche Greengage richness fills out the nose and gives depth of flavour on the start of the palate. The sweeter fruit is underpinned by lime and apple a fresher feel towards the back with lots of minerals on the finish. Pouilly-Fuissé Pentacrine The nose has the racy freshness of lime and minerals and the palate starts with the same crisp feel. There is some greengage on the mid palate more weight and flavour then towards the back the citrus comes through refreshing the finish. Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ronchevats The mineral and shale mix on the nose gives crispness and a racy start to the palate. The mid palate feels richer some greengage backed by grapefruit with the mineral mix of the nose refreshing the finish. Pouilly-Fuissé Clos sur la Roche Although the nose is fresh there is richer fruit at the back. The palate has weight of flavour some greengage with the minerals and flint mix taking over and giving a lovely crisp feel to the finish. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 14

15 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs There is an attractive mix on the nose fresh limes, mineral and flint. The mid palate has a nice depth of flavour rich ripe feeling fruit with the minerals shale and citrus refreshing the finish. Pouilly-Fuissé Les Haut des Crays The nose is quite tight very mineral driven and the mix of minerals, flint and citrus refreshes the start of the palate. There is sweetness to the flavours on the mid palate this richness giving weight on the back palate but the finish is flint crisp. Domaine Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet Bourgogne Blanc The nose is tight and the start of the palate closed. Citrus gives freshness on the mid palate but there is not a lot of fruit showing at the back. Puligny-Montrachet Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 Although the nose is quite light there is an attractive freshness with lots of limes. The palate is slightly richer but towards the back citrus and flint take over giving a lighter yet fragrant fresh finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 Ripe greengage gives more depth on the nose and a richer start to the palate. The depth and sweetness of fruit is balanced by freshness some crisp apple a lovely racy finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières The nose is fresh lime driven with sweeter greengage giving a richer feel in the middle. The back palate is leaner with minerals and flint. 16 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The nose has a zesty freshness but the palate feels sweeter with ripe greengage filling it out. The mineral and apple freshness is there at the back lifting the flavours. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gains There is an attractive chalky freshness on the nose and lots of concentrated flavours on the palate. It feels richer towards the back with a mix of mineral and apple refreshing the finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Combettes Rich ripe juicy fruit fills out the nose and gives sweetness on the start of the palate. There is a balancing freshness with flint towards the back but the finish is full of ripe fruit. Chassagne-Montrachet Les Encégnières The fruit on the nose is slightly herbal and this is in evidence on the start of the palate. The mid palate is fresher with lime and apple and there are richer flavours towards the back. Domaine Seguin-Manuel Beaune Pommard Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The fruit on the nose is sweet some nice ripe red fruits. The mid palate has depth of flavour the richness of mulberry and black cherry and although the back palate is lighter there is sweetness on the finish. Domaine Séguinot-Bordet Maligny Chablis Petit Chablis Tasted at the Carlton Club September 2012 Citrus and mineral give a lovely crispness on both nose and palate. The lemon and lime mix is backed by slightly richer apple and towards the back greengage gives a little more weight but the overall feel is freshness minerals and flint the ideal combination to partner seafood. A glass or two with the potted shrimps is a great way to start lunch. Chablis Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 16

17 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 The nose is fresh with an attractive mix of minerals and lime and the palate starts very crisp. It is quite light in the middle but there is more weight some greengage on the back palate with a racy fresh lime driven finish. Domaine Comte Senard Aloxe-Corton Bourgogne Blanc Tasted at the Domaine June 2013 Although the nose has apple freshness the palate is richer sweeter fruited with melon and pineapple. The richness of the fruit is balanced by fresh fruits apple with a touch of citrus yet the finish has lots of power and fruit richness. Aloxe-Corton Rouge Tasted at the Domaine June 2013 Fresh red cherries give a lovely brightness on the nose and on the start of the palate. There is more depth in the middle yet towards the back there is freshness a lighter red fruited mix on the finish Domaine Serafin Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin Bourgogne Rouge The nose is fresh but has a good depth of flavour. The start of the palate is sweet fruited but both middle and end are lighter with an attractive freshness and fragrance. Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Millandes Black fruits enrich the nose and give depth of flavour on the palate. The fruit is ripe sweet in the middle with fresh fruit giving a lighter feel to the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny Master of Wine: Derek Smedley Master of Wine: Derek Smedley

18 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The nose is fragrant fresh fruited and the red fruits give a light feel on the start of the palate. The mid palate has some ripe fruit that gives a little more weight and a slightly richer feel to the back palate and finish. Domaine Jean-Pierre Sève Solutré-Pouilly Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Chailloux Tasted at the Carlton Club September 2014 The nose is sweet and rich the start of the palate flabby and over sweet. The hint of freshness in the middle is overtaken by sweet fruit leaving the finish soft and flabby. Domaine Anne et Hervé Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Millandes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The fruit on the nose is ripe and this gives richness on the palate. The black fruits are more obvious at the start but behind are some fresher red. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Noirots Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The freshness of the raspberry redcurrant mix gives a lighter feel on both nose and palate. There is a bit more weight in the middle but the finish has freshness. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Fuées Although the nose is fresh fruited with raspberry and redcurrant the mid palate is richer mulberry and strawberry and this sweeter fruit fills out the back palate. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Chatelots The nose is rich the start of the palate full of ripe flavours. Blackberry and mulberry intermingle giving a lovely complex feel at the back. 19 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Domaine Talmard Uchizy Mâcon Uchizy Tasted at the Carlton Club September 2012 The nose has the richness of greengage and the palate has a nice weight of fruit. Under the fullness the mix of lime and apple refresh and give a lovely crispness on the finish. Clos de Tart Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de Tart Grand Cru Tasted at Corney & Barrow tasting October 2013 The nose is quite light fragrant red fruited nutty and the start of the palate appears to lack depth. The mid palate is richer ripe fruited black fruits and fleshy mulberry but the finish has a lighter fragrant charm. Domaine Taupenot Merme Morey-Saint-Denis Gevrey-Chambertin The nose is sweet fruited and the start of the palate quite rich. There are fresher flavours on the mid palate more red fruit in character and this gives a slightly lighter feel to the finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Pruliers The nose has a mix of fruits mulberry backed by bramble and this mix gives a depth of flavour on the palate. The fruit feels ripe the sweetness enriching the back palate and finish. Corton Rognets Grand Cru There are a lot of powerful flavours on the nose and rich fruit fleshing out the palate. The ripe power is balanced by fresher redcurrant but the richness of the fruit is there at the back fleshing out the finish. 20 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 There is a lovely depth of fruit on the nose power on the palate ripe black fruits fleshy and rich. The sweet fruited power is balanced by underlying freshness but towards the back the black cherry mix comes through enriching the finish. Vignerons des Terres Secretes Prissé Mâcon Blanc Tasted at the Carlton Club September 2012 The fruit on the nose is sweet giving it a richness and depth of flavour on the start of the palate. The mid palate has the crispness of crunchy apple and lime and although there is more weight of flavour towards the finish the finish is slightly short. Mâcon-Verzé Croix-Jarrier The nose has a racy mineral crispness and there is fresh fruit on the start of the palate. The mid palate is richer but towards the back the mix of citrus and minerals gives a racy crispness. Saint-Véran The nose is fresh but the start of the palate slightly sweeter and richer. Minerals and lime feature towards the back and the finish is racy but quite hard. Bourgogne Pinot Noir It is very light very fresh with high acidity on both nose and palate. 21 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 The fruit feels ripe the nose is sweet with a mix of mainly red fruits. There is a nice depth of fruit on the mid palate with the richness nicely balanced by some freshness. Moulin-à-Vent la Roche The fruit is sweet with more red fruits than black and the palate has a fleshy suppleness on the start. The mid palate is fresher and the red fruits give a lighter feel on the finish. Bourgogne Rouge les Grands Chaillots There is a herbal quality on the nose red fruited and quite fresh. Blackberry and black cherry giver a richer feel in the middle but towards the back there is red fruited freshness. There are fresher flavours towards the back but the finish is fleshy sweet fruited with lots of ripe mulberry and bramble. 22 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The nose is fresh quite light with citrus fragrances. There is a richer feel to the mid palate yet the back palate and finish are light with fresh flavours. Saint-Aubin Champ Tirant The citrus on the nose gives the freshness the greengage on the start of the palate more richness and depth. The back palate has lots of fresh fruit and the finish has a crisp raciness. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien The nose is richer with the sweeter fruit filling out the start of the palate. Towards the back apple and citrus tend to dominate giving a lovely crispness on the finish. Puligny-Montrachet Le Trézin The nose has a slate and mineral freshness with the start of the palate being equally fresh. The back palate has richer flavours but the finish is light, flinty and apple fresh. Meursault 1er Cru Blagny Honey rich flavours fill out the nose and enrich the start of the palate. The mid palate is slightly firmer with apple freshness but towards the back there is good depth of flavour with richness on the finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne The nose is concentrated with rich flavours lots of greengage. Although the start of the palate is sweet fruited there is an underlying freshness an attractive mix of apple and lime that refresh and give a racy feel to the finish. Domaine Dupont Tisserandot Gevrey-Chambertin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 The fruit on the nose is sweet with a mix of black and red fruits. The palate has the richness of ripe fruit sweet towards the back with a touch of fresher red fruit on the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2013 Although the nose is light it has a fragrant charm. Red fruits tend to dominate quite sweet and the mix giving complexity. Towards the back it feels fresher with less concentration and the finish lacks depth. Domaine Tollot-Beaut Chorey-lès-Beaune Bourgogne Rouge Both nose and palate have the depth of flavour of black fruits. The back palate is lighter and fresher with a slight dryness shortening the finish. Chorey-lès-Beaune La Piece du Chapitre There is a mix of bramble and black cherry richness of flavour filling out both nose and palate. Under the sweet fruit the freshness gives a lighter feel towards the back but the finish has the richness of bramble and black cherry. Tasted in Mercers Hall October The nose is still closed the start of the palate tight but there is mid sweetness depth of fruit a mix of bramble and mulberry. Firm tannins are tending to hold back the fruit at the moment. Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières Black fruits and red fruits give a nice complex mix of flavours. Towards the back it is lighter with less depth of fruit on the finish. Aloxe Corton 1er Cru Les Vercots The nose has depth of fruit and the palate has some chunky black fruits. The mid palate is sweet with a good depth of flavour and there are black fruits filling out the back palate. Beaune 1er Cru Grèves The black fruits are sweet the nose has depth and richness with fruit power filling out the mid palate. There is a balancing freshness but there are lots of black fruits at the back enriching the finish. Beaune 1er Cru Clos du Roi The nose is deep and profound and the start of the palate has richness of flavour. The tannins are quite hard and it lacks sweetness and depth of fruit on the finish. Corton Bressandes Grand Cru The fruit is ripe a lovely richness on the nose and depth on the palate. Black fruits dominate the richness balanced by fresher flavours some bilberry and red fruits. Château de la Tour Clos de Vougeot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Cuvée Classique Tasted at the Corney & Barrow tasting Tower of London January 2013 The nose is light and the start of the palate does not have great depth of flavour. There is a richer mix in the middle bramble behind the red cherry and mulberry. The finish has a red fruited freshness. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Corney & Barrow tasting Tower of London January 2013 The nose is tight and the palate does not show a lot at first but the mid palate is richer more open with mulberry and red cherry and this mix fills out the back palate and finish. 25 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Domaine Tupinier-Bautista Mercurey Mercurey 1er Cru en Sazenay The mineral and citrus gives a hard start and a slightly tight feel on the nose. Although there is a little more weight on the mid palate the apple and lime that comes through towards the back gives firmness and tightness on the finish. Santenay 1er Cru la Gravière Greengage and melon fill out the nose and give a rich start to the palate. Under the riper flavours mineral and lime refresh yet towards the back the greengage comes through giving a nice weight of flavour on the finish. Mercurey Vieilles Vignes The nose has lots of fragrances all very red fruited in character. Raspberry refreshes the mid palate underpinned by some richer mulberry and this gives a little more weight and depth on the finish. Mercurey 1er Cru en Sazenay The mix of red fruits is fresh with a slight nuttiness. The mid palate is richer with mulberry and red cherry dominating an attractive depth of flavour. There is a balancing freshness towards the back but the finish has both fragrance and freshness. Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roy The sweetness of the fruit gives richness on both nose and palate layers of mulberry and cassis. The richness of the fruit is balanced by raspberry and bilberry refreshing the back palate and giving a slightly lighter feel on the finish. The palate has power depth richness of flavour with under the sweetness a balancing freshness. Although the back palate has lots of power the finish has a fresher more elegant feel. Domaine Christophe Vaudoisey Volnay Volnay The nose has some ripe fruit and there are some sweet black fruits on the start of the palate. 27 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Black fruits on the nose are quite sweet but the palate is very red fruit in character lighter and slightly hard towards the back. There are more black fruits showing on the back palate but the finish is firmer and slightly short. Domaine Aurélien Verdet Arcenant Vosne-Romanée The nose is fresh but the palate full of rich ripe fruit with mulberry to the fore. The sweetness gives way to a fresher feel but the fruit sweetness is there at the back giving richness on the finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Boudots The mainly red fruits on the nose are light fresh and fragrant and this red fruited influence gives a lighter feel on the mid palate. The fruit lasts well on the finish. Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Beaumonts Ripe fruit gives richness on the nose and a fleshy start to the palate. Black cherry tends to dominate but behind is a mix of mulberry and redcurrant the fresher feel balancing the richer black fruits. Domaine Verget Sologny Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Tasted at the Carlton Club November 2012 The nose is quite sweet fruited with greengage and ripe apples. The mineral and citrus that come through on the mid palate refresh and the back palate has the crispness of the mineral and citrus mix. The finish has just a hint of earthiness. Mâcon Vergisson La Roche Tasted at the Farr Vintners tasting Boodles London May 2013 Fresh fruit crisp apple features on both nose and palate. The mid palate has more depth richer fruit and sweeter flavours but the finish has the racy crispness of apple and flint. There is a nice depth of flavour in the middle but the back palate if fresh fruited with the steeliness of flint and shale. Puligny-Montrachet Sous le Puit Tasted at Farr Vintners tasting Boodles London April 2014 Lean on the nose the palate starts with a racy mineral freshness. There are sweeter fruits in the middle greengage some apple with the apple and lime at the back refreshing the finish long racy mineral fresh. The back palate is fresh with apple, mineral and some citrus and this gives crispness on the finish.
