Give the gift of a cooking experience this year! School Release Day Cooking Program Are you looking for School Release Day Cooking Camps in the Twin Cities? Our School Release Cooking Program is just what you are looking for to educate and entertain your student. From Nailed It! challenges to beginner s cooking skills to advanced baking techniques, we keep your kids engaged in fun cooking experiences when school is closed. During class your student is too busy to worry about their phone while they learn both savory and sweet recipes and cook in their own fully-equipped cooking station with no more than one partner (unless a group of 3 friends request the same station.) The Kids Cooking School Is The Happiest Kitchen On Earth! During these educational classes disguised as fun cooking activities, students: Coming Soon: Homeschool Cooking Classes Keep an eye out for our upcoming classes specifically designed for homeschool families. These classes will be offered during the day each week starting in October. We are currently designing the format for these classes and will announce registration via Facebook and to our list. 2 Fall Weekly Classes Weekly Class - Global Food Journey Take a journey around the world every Tuesday evening for the next 7 weeks and travel around the world. This exciting new weekly cooking class especially designed for young chefs explores different cultures, cuisines, and specialties from all over globe as well as local favorites. Just like our previous kids cooking classes, Chef Jessica prepares a Mystery Tool & Ingredient each week and provides hands-on instruction for 7 weeks of cooking and creativity - the "fun-est" way to learn how to cook! Throughout the session, campers will prepare delicious recipes as they safely learn kitchen fundamentals, palate development, and culinary techniques. They will also learn how food is a common language that unites us all by asking questions like these and more - How can learning new cuisines challenge our taste buds? In what ways are cuisines around the world the same? Different? What can we learn about a culture through traditional recipes and ingredients? How does physical geography affect a region's cuisine? Family and friends are invited on Friday afternoons to have their passports stamped as they taste the world! Earth! On Netflix's latest cooking show, we cringe as we watch inexperienced bakers try to recreate edible masterpieces that were created by professionals. This educational cooking class will take the positive elements of the show to teach students baking skills in a fun, reality show atmosphere. Each masterpiece has three parts: 1. The instructors will provide a masterpiece similar to the desserts seen on the show. 2. Students will review the recipe with the instructors and practice any skills that are unfamiliar. 3. Students make their own version of the masterpiece with one other student partner. 4. Students that would like to participate in a judging contest can present their masterpiece against the original for judging. Prizes will be awarded based on creativity, perseverance, and taste. Less experienced students will have one of our Junior Chef Assistants as well as our instructors. The competition is optional. Those that do not wish to compete may choose to be a judge or the audience. It's a pretty spectacularly fun day! Ages: 9-18 Date: Sunday Sept 23,2018 Time: 2-5 Ages: 9-18 Date: Sunday November 11,2018 Time: 2-5 Weekly Class - Spice It Up Chef! Young chefs learn how to take their meals to the next level with savory herbs and spices. Each week the instructor will introduce a new herb and spice to flavor their food. Students will learn where the herbs and spices come from, how to harvest them, and how to use them to enhance the pleasure of our food. We will have a variety of spices for students to try, but there will always be a mild flavor option if your student does not care for any heat in their spices. Chef Jessica will also be sure to bring the beloved Mystery Food and Mystery Tool game to each class. Ages: 6-9 Dates: 11/6/ /11/2018 Time: 6-8 Cost: $ Ages: Dates: 11/8/ /13/2018 Time: 6-8 Cost: $ Weekend Class - Adult Sunday Brunch Ages: Date: 10/7/2018 We are very excited to offer a Sunday Brunch class for our adult students. This class will feature delicious breakfast dishes that can feed a group without spending all your time (or money) in the kitchen. The menu includes: - breakfast crescent ring with various vegetables and proteins based on your taste - Fast & Healthy Breakfast Crepes - Breakfast Mimosas (BYOB)

3 Fall Viewing Classes Kids Baking Championship Cooking Class & Viewing Party Do your kids love the Kids Baking Championship? Ours do, so bring your children to the Kids Cooking School for a cooking class / viewing party this season. We will watch the show each week and actually learn how to cook the challenge they have on the show! We recently learned that Season 5 of the Kids Baking Championship will be airing much earlier this year than it has in the past. This show usually airs in January but will now be on the Food Network in August and September for it s 5th season. We have had so much fun over the last two years working with students who dream of getting cast on this show. We haven t had a student on the show yet, but several have made it extremely far in the casting process. This class begins August 6th and runs through the duration of the season. This is going to be a spectacularly fun evening to wrap up the This class is for ages 8 and up. Younger siblings will be allowed to attend the viewing party, as space is available. 4 October School Release Classes Nailed IT! Sweet and Savory Date: 9/24/2018 On Netflix's latest cooking show, we cringe as we watch inexperienced bakers try to recreate edible masterpieces that were created by professionals. This educational cooking class will take the positive elements of the show to teach students baking skills in a fun, reality show atmosphere. In the morning we will have a savory masterpiece to replicate, and then a sweet masterpiece in the afternoon. Each masterpiece has three parts: 1. The instructors will provide a masterpiece similar to the desserts seen on the show. 2. Students will review the recipe with the instructors and practice any skills that are unfamiliar. 3. Students make their own version of the masterpiece with one other student partner. 4. Students that would like to participate in a judging contest can present their masterpiece against the original for judging. Prizes will be awarded based on creativity, perseverance, and taste. Less experienced students will have one of our Junior Chef Assistants as well as our instructors. The competition is optional. Those that do not wish to compete may choose to be a judge or the audience. It's a pretty spectacularly fun day! Easy Fancy Chicken Cordon Bleu dinner entre () Date: 10/1/2018 Date: 10/8/2018 Date: 10/12/2018 Date: 10/15/2018 This afternoon class will feature to a savory recipe that is extremely popular and yet can be intimidating for even some adult foodies. Easy, Fancy Chicken Cordon Bleu is on the menu and we will show your student the tricks to making this a go-to recipe in your house that your kids can make on their own. Think about it: after just a few classes at the Kids Cooking School, you could have your student making DINNER one night a week. That's our goal building young chefs that love to cook with real food. Autumn Leaves Cake Roll (AM) Date: 10/1/2018 Date: 10/8/2018 Date: 10/12/2018 Date: 10/15/2018 Try your hand at rolling up your favorite flavored cake into a cake roll and add some autumn leaf decorations to the top. Students will have a choice of several flavors of cake and frosting to choose from so each student has the opportunity to try different tastes. When it comes time to decorate the cake roll, each student will be able to choose their method of decoration based on their skill level, ranging from actually using colored cake batter to bake the fall leaves into the top of the cake to frosting techniques as well as fondant leaves. The cake is the length of a 1/4 sheet cake so there's just enough for your family to try it, but not so much that you end up eating cake for days. This educational cooking class includes skills such as: - reading recipes and following directions - measuring and mixing skills - baking skills - decorating skills - dishwashing and kitchen cleanup skills Don't forget to also add the afternoon class for a full day of fun in the Happiest Kitchen on Earth where students learn how to make an Easy Fancy Chicken Cordon Bleu dinner entrée.

5 October/Halloween School Release Classes Harry Potter Halloween AM Date: 10/16/2018 We had so much fun this summer at the Harry Potter Cuisine Cooking Camp that we decided to dedicate some of our Halloween cooking class a la Hogwarts. Some families have more than just MEA off, so we will host a cooking day where we make Sorting Hat Cupcakes with a "surprise" inside based on your Hogwart's House. Don't know your Hogwart's House? No worries! Harry Potter days are always filled with magical activities and crafts (like the Sorting game) to keep us busy between recipes. Be sure to also sign-up for our afternoon class where we will make Stuffed Taco Howlers! CoCo / Day of the Dead Cookie Pops Date: 10/17/2018 Date: 10/26/2018 Did you love all of the colorful characters in CoCo? This movie is based on a Mexican celebration of loved ones who have passed on. It's the day after Halloween and it's called Day of the Dead. LOL For this morning class, we will be using these colorful skeletons as inspiration for cookie decorating, which can range from simple all the way to complex based on the skill of your student. Those that wish to turn their cookies into cookie "pops" will be able to add sticks and ribbons to their cookies. Don't forget to register for the afternoon class where we will be making Day of the Dead Skull Empanadas. CoCo / Day of the Dead Skull Empanadas Date: 10/17/2018 Date: 10/26/2018 Did you love all of the colorful characters in CoCo? On Day 2 of all things Hogwarts we will create edible potions in the morning and Cauldron Cakes in the afternoon. This is one of our favorite themes, so there are always extra fun activities and crafts to make in between recipes. Halloween Bring the Treats Stations - Bones, Mummy fingers, pizza dip (Parent / Child Option) (Saturday Class) Date: Saturday 10/27/2018 Whether you are you going to a Halloween Party on the weekend before Halloween and need to bring a dish to share - or you just want to join in on the Halloween cooking fun, join us on Saturday morning to make some fun Halloween treats. Both students and adults are welcome to joining this class. Students 8 and under must register with an adult. Students 9 and above may come with an adult or on their own. We will have several cooking stations where students can make Bread Bones, Mummy Fingers, Bloody Pizza Dip and other fun treats for Halloween.

6 November School Release Classes Sneaky Chef: Breads (AM) Date: 11/2/2018 Date: 11/9/2018 Date: 11/15/2018 We love to get a little sneaky in the kitchen and show our students that some of those healthy ingredients taste better than they think. Join us for a morning of baking bread with a sneaky (healthy) ingredient that most people can't taste, but still benefit from all of the fantastic nutrients. Don't forget to join us in the afternoon for a pasta version of Sneaky Chef. Date: 11/2/2018 Date: 11/9/2018 Date: 11/15/2018 Sneaky Chef: Pasta () We love to get a little sneaky in the kitchen and show our students that some of those healthy ingredients taste better than they think. In this version of Sneaky Chef, students will make two kinds of pasta: one from flour and one from vegetables. We are planning a super fun, blind taste test to prove that you can't hardly tell the difference, especially if you mix the two together. Don't forget to register for the morning class where we sneak yummy, healthy ingredients into our bread recipe for a bread version of our Sneaky Chef class series. Quick & Easy One-Pan Meals As we get ready for the holiday season, we thought it would be fun to teach our students how to make some quick and easy meals that they can make with little or no help. These are also great meals to make on the weekend to store in the fridge for those busy nights when school and sports seem to take over our lives. On the menu for this class is: - one pan breakfast sandwiches - one pan burritos and veggies - one-pot lasagna soup Students who are vegetarians will be able to skip the meat and replace it with beans. 7 Thanksgiving Week Classes Sweet Maple Madness (AM) Date: 11/19/2018 Chef Tiffany brought home some fresh maple syrup from the North Shore and we had a great time finding recipes to use in the cooking school. On the menu this morning is Maple Glazed Gingerbread Scones from scratch. Can you say YUMMMM!!! I'm sure we will have leftover ingredients, so we will also make Maple Fudge to enjoy AFTER a healthy lunch. Don't forget to sign-up for our afternoon class where we will make a savory Maple Glazed Apple Pork Chop Meal. Savory Maple Madness () Meals with Leftover Turkey Who doesn't have tons of leftover turkey after Thanksgiving - and absolutely no desire to eat it after one good turkey sandwich on Friday for lunch? During this class students will learn how to use their leftovers from Thanksgiving to make new meals that are delicious - and don't feel like you are having Thanksgiving all over again. The menu for the day includes: - Leftover Turkey Chili - Leftover Turkey Carnitas (it's like a taco) - Turkey Pot Pie You can register for this class just in the morning or the afternoon - or both. It just depends on your schedule. Date: 11/20/2018 Morning Date: 11/20/2018 Afternoon Not Your Average Thanksgiving Pies Ages: 9-18 Date: 11/21/2018 Back by popular demand, our Thanksgiving Pies class will return this year, and they aren't your average pumpkin and apple pies. These are distinguished pies made by kids. Your family will think you picked them up at the bakery. Seriously. Let your young chef make the pies this year by joining our class on the day before Thanksgiving. It's an all-day class so we can make several pies from scratch. Students will also have the opportunity to make decorative pie covers to WOW your family with their culinary expertise. Pie options include: - Chocolate Swirl Pumpkin Pie - Maple Apple Pie (with or without maple) - Cranberry Cheesecake Pie - Gluten Free Pear Tart - Apple Cheddar Galette - Rose Apple Pie - Caramel Coconut Cream Pie Each student will take home at least 2 pies, possibly even 3 pies depending on time and how fast they make their pie crusts. We will provide disposable foil pie pans, but if you would like your student to make their pies in your own pie pans, you are welcome to send them. Please keep pie pans to 9" or below. Date: 11/19/2018 Who says maple has to always be in a dessert? In this afternoon class just before Thanksgiving, students will learn how to flavor savory foods with fresh maple syrup - not the HFCS kind! This mini-menu includes: - Maple Baked Apple Pork Chops - Fresh Green Beans - Homemade Maple BBQ Sauce Each student will have plenty of leftovers to bring home and they will each have their own jar of Maple BBQ Sauce to bring home. Don't forget to register for our morning Maple Madness where we will use our fresh maple syrup in sweet recipes.

8 December Weekend/Weeknight Holiday Classes Holiday Cookie Bake Get ready for the cookie decorating season with this masterclass where students will learn how to bake and decorate holiday cookies. That's right! Those fancy decorated cookies that your student has been wanting to try are easier than you think when you know a few tricks. Students will learn how to make an easy cookie recipe, how to make royal icing, the difference between piping and flooding, and how to make fun designs all on their own. We will break this class into two groups to accommodate all ages. Younger students will be able to make basic cookies and older students will have the opportunity to work on more advanced designs. Date: Saturday December 1, 2018 Date: Saturday December 8, 2018 Truffle Surprise Box Has your child expressed interest in making truffles? This is the class for them. We will make several different flavored truffles. We will teach them how to make different fillings, roll the centers and dip the outside as well as decorating each truffle so it can be easily identified! Each student will decorate their own bakery boxes and bring home a box full of truffles. 9 Holiday Break Classes Edible Gifts for Friends, Family and Teachers Date: 12/20/2018 Morning Date: 12/20/2018 Afternoon Morning and Afternoon will be different in this class. Give your teachers, family, and friends an edible gift this year that they will beg for next year! In this class students will make edible recipes that fit well in a glass mason jar or bakery box. We will have a craft station where they can personalize their jars with all the trimmings and stickers. Edible Gift options include: - Rootbeer BBQ Sauce in a Jar - Pretzels dipped in Chocolate & Sprinkles - Rocky Road Bark in holiday themed molds - Red Velvet Oreo Truffles - Samoa Truffles - Holiday Meringue Cookies - Maple Butter Fudge You can register for this class just in the morning or the afternoon - or both. Harry Potter Magical Christmas Date: December 27, 2018 Christmas has just finished at Hogwarts and we are celebrating with Harry Potter while parents have to go back to work. During this fun cooking class, students will make a traditional English breakfast in the morning, followed by a fun Harry Potter activity that kids of all ages love. Of course, what would a HP class be without some kind of pastie? Just before lunch we will make Pumpkin Pasties that actually taste good and are super fun to make. And since we are all getting tired of all the holiday cookies and desserts, the instructors will teach students how to make Twice Baked Shephard's Pie Potatoes in the afternoon. Winter 3 Course Meal Date: December 28, 2018 This winter we are excited to offer a savory cooking class where students will learn how to cook a 3- course meal. We have an exciting, fun menu prepared where students 1st - 8th grade will learn / refine quite a few cooking skills. 3-Course Meal Menu: Maple glazed ham Pesto puff pastry Xmas tree Apple sage stuffing Honey glazed thyme roasted carrots Younger students will work separately from older students to make a the main dish as a group in the morning with help from one our amazing staff members. After lunch they will do a cooking related activity and wrap up the day by making one of the side dishes for the whole group, which makes them feel super important. PS - One of my favorite books that inspired my teaching style - and a great book to read if you have trouble getting your kids to eat/try new foods 0- is "French Kids Eat Everything". There is a reason behind the different courses in a meal and we will talk about that too!

11 General Information Are you looking for kids cooking classes in the Twin Cities? The Kids Cooking School is just what you are looking for to educate and entertain your student. From Nailed It! challenges to beginner s cooking skills to advanced baking techniques, we keep your kids engaged in fun cooking experiences when school is closed. During class your student is too busy to worry about their phone while they learn both savory and sweet recipes and cook in their own fully-equipped cooking station with no more than one partner (unless a group of 3 friends request the same station.) The Kids Cooking School Is The Happiest Kitchen On Earth! During these educational classes disguised as fun cooking activities, students: Develop self-confidence and self-worth and Discover the joy of hands-on, healthy cooking at their own station Enhance executive functions like following directions, increasing attention span to work on tasks that take time, and reinforcing math skills through culinary conversions. Encouraging a growth mindset through recipe alterations, substitutions, and learning from mistakes. We have done our best to create classes for school release days, weeknights, weekends, and summer camps for students ages 6 and up. The list of classes below is our full calendar through December If you are looking for a date that you don t see, please let us know. We are happy to open a daytime class at any time with 6 or more students. Registration Important Note About the Active Registration Software: Our registration software, Active.com, does not allow us to add any images to visually describe the class your are considering. Since we have little control over the layout of the registration pages, we have created a more visual class catalog on our website, with a link to each class on Active.com. HOWEVER - when we link to Active, it shows ONLY the class you are currently viewing. If you want to see the rest of the catalog on Active - you must click the Clear Filters link at the top of the class listing to view the other classes. I understand how frustrating registrations can be, and we are going to completely build our own customer registration system in September. Please bear with us until then (again) as we work diligently through our growing pains to give you the best possible customer experience. REGISTER NOW Refund Policy Thank you for understanding that we are a nonprofit organization and stick to a very tight budget to keep your tuition as low as possible. To be eligible for a 100% refund, you must cancel your registration 30 days prior to the first day of your week of summer camp. To be eligible for a class credit, which does not expire until 12/31/2018, you must cancel your registration 7 days before the first day of your week of summer camp. Gift certificates are not refundable. Rescheduling one week of summer camp for another week is available up to 7 days before the first day of your original summer camp; rescheduling options are based on availability. Rescheduling is provided at no charge. In some cases of illness, we will provide a partial class refund. A partial refund means we cannot refund the cost of ingredients or labor for illness or changes less than 7 days from camp, which is different for each camp and is not calculated until ingredients are purchased and staff is scheduled. Refunds and schedule changes only apply to full weeks of camp. Individual days are not refundable or changeable from one week to another. For example, if your child is going to miss Monday s class, they cannot make-up the class during a different week. For a schedule change example, if your child is attending summer camp the week of July 16th: Full refunds are available before June 16th. Class credit or rescheduling is available before July 9th. If your refund has been approved, it will be processed and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, usually within a few business days. Some banks take up to 7-10 business days. Late or missing refunds If you haven t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, as it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refundis posted. If you ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at tiffany@kidscookingschool.org.
