An App for That now on Android, etc. Ever since we released the first version of the shopping app two years ago, the most common request has been for one with compatibility with Android devices. ( What do you have against Android? was one plaintive comment that I remember). The new version is for Android, upgrades the initial version for Apple devices, and it will soon work with Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. There are so many bells and whistles with this version that it s hard to know where to start. Now truth be told, I never really used the initial app. So I am a recent convert, with all the passion sometimes associated with new converts to anything. The primary objective of the app is to make your shopping easier and especially your shopping LIST. Past purchases are available on the new app so your list gets a jump start with things you ve been buying (assuming you swiped your Shoppers Club card or keytag at checkout). Another new addition is the Nutrition Facts label for each product. And another request has been fulfilled to estimate the total cost for the items on your list. Great for those who want more control over spending and who doesn t, especially in January? The thing I like best is that the app locates every product by aisle or dept (i.e. Nature s Marketplace). I always have trouble remembering where to find a few products that I don t buy every week Diamond Nut Thin Crackers, for instance. So there it is on my list with the exact location. Saves lots of running back and forth. When shopping, you can check off each item as you put it in the cart by just touching the image of the product. As with a written list, then you know when you ve gotten everything. Later, when working on your next list, you can restore those items to your list; just touch Uncheck all at the bottom of the screen. Oh, you can also add items to your list by simply taking your device s camera to scan bar codes right from the pantry or fridge. How cool is that! And if you are suddenly in the proximity of a store other than your regular one, touch the more icon on the screen, choose My Store and from there, switch to another store location. Presto, your list is organized for that store. We ve recently upgraded all stores for wireless connection, so hopefully you ll have no problems getting a signal in every store. There is also a way to search by zip code for the store nearest you. Sharing lists among family members (or whoever) can be done in more than one way. The easiest is that once you ve made your list, just touch the Share button at the bottom, enter the address for the recipient along with any comments and touch Submit. That sends an item by item list (including product locations for your preferred store). As always, if you have a problem logging into your account or viewing your data, contact shoppersclub@wegmans.com or call Ok now you re at checkout and here s the coolest thing: just have the cashier use the handheld scanner to scan your bar code (at the bottom of your list). No need to pull out the card or keytag! I ve only just begun; there s much, much more and if you re into apps, you can find them on your own by just playing around. Enjoy!
