Many of you ordered pies and/or helped with advertising to family, friends, and church members. 80 pies have been pre-sold, but we ll bake 100 because there are sure to be folks who haven t heard of the new venture and will want to buy a pie. For a first year undertaking, the results are fantastic. Those of you who have fruit to donate, please bring it to the center on Wednesday, July 6th. All the baking will take place on Thursday, July 7th, and pies will be ready for pickup or delivery on the 8th. Membership & Newsletter renewal is underway. Forms were included in the previous newsletter, but if you need one just give us a call or stop by the front desk. You can also renew online at cityofsandy.com. Even if you receive the newsletter free via , please take time to renew. Membership is by donation and earns a spot on the birthday page in the newsletter and the bulletin board in the dining room. HIKES: MOLALLA RIVER STATE PARK Tues. 7/12 & WILLAMETTE MISSION PARK Tues, 8/23 DEPART: 9:00am RETURN: 4:00 pm COST: $8 Molalla River State Park is located at the confluence of the Molalla & Willamette Rivers. Hike the trail along the shore out and back, relatively flat, approx. 3.2 miles; restaurant stop for lunch Repeat trip to Willamette Mission State Park to explore the hiking trails. One of the most significant sites in the Willamette Valley, the original buildings are represented by ghost structures. Picnic lunch or add $8 for box lunch. Much walking. CHINOOK WINDS CASINO with MT. HOOD ATHLETIC CLUB - Mon., 7/18 DEPART: 7:15am RETURN: 7:30pm COST: Bus is Free! BRING: $ for lunch &? Mt. Backstop is located in a historical building and features a variety of entrees from salads to wraps to burgers to steaks. Enjoy sports treasures and memorabilia as well as a ride on the Canby Ferry. Little walking. A DAY IN CANNON BEACH - Tues., 8/9 DEPART: 8:30 am RETURN: 5:30 pm COST: $10 Enjoy a scenic drive the coast. Once in Cannon Beach, explore the town including bakeries, candy shops, art galleries and book stores. Gather for a lunch of chowder or seafood, then walk the beach or take in more of the quaint downtown. Much walking. CLACKAMAS COUNTY FAIR - Wed., 8/17 DEPART: 9:00 am RETURN: 4:00 pm COST: $5 Adult fair-goers have a day designed just for them. Admission cost is $2.00 for ages and those 75+ get in free. Check out the food booths, livestock displays, entertainment and exhibits. Much walking. OREGON STATE FAIR - Tues., 8/30 DEPART: 9:00 am RETURN: 5:00 pm COST: $8 There s no such thing as too much summer fun, and there s no better place to get your share than the Oregon State Fair. With roots going back to 1861, this is one of the nation s classics. Get an overall view with the Fair Lift, and enjoy the animals, flowers, canned goods, entertainment and that yummy fair food. Van rides to local stores. Stops limited depending on time available. Suggested donation is $1.50. TRANSPORTATION - Rides available to adults 60+ in the Sandy area for shopping, medical appts., and center lunch. A 24-hr. notice is necessary to assure the best service for local rides. Suggested donation 75 each way. Rides are available for medical appts. in Gresham/Portland. Advance notice is requested for rides outside the Sandy area; $2 charge each way.
