2 INTRODUCTION In this catalogue, the Metal-processing Industry Association within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia presents industrial companies from the branch of fabricated metal products, from the machinery branch and from the transport equipment branch. These branches are presented together with their production activities, production programmes, addresses and communication data. Our mission is to offer information about the production programmes Slovenian producers are offering to foreign and domestic customers and investors. With this catalogue we intend to enhance knowledge about the technical and purchasing possibilities of the metal-processing industry of Slovenia within the process of the globalisation of world trade activities. The alphabetical list of companies provides data about activities and specialised programme domains concerning the NACE index. Within the catalogue there are also citations of leading products according to statements made by the companies and common terminology. The entire catalogue is issued in both Slovenian and English. The catalogue contains information about all big and medium companies, but of the many smaller companies we listed only those that are active members and have at least 5 employees. In practical terms, the catalogue is divided into three parts: Producers are listed alphabetically. The description of each contains the company name, address, phone and fax numbers, , web homepage, leadership, number of employees, contact person, main activities, Product groups code, the NACE nomenclature classification of industrial products Products represent the following index: by each code and its description we find companies that produce a certain product, together with its order number where additional details about the company can be found. We wish all users of this catalogue great success in their future collaboration with the Slovenian metal-processing industry. i

12 The Metal-processing industry in Slovenia As already mentioned, the metal processing industry as a sector encompasses three main activity fields: metalworking, machine-building and transport means manufacturing. As such it represents one of the strongest sectors within national manufacturing industries. With its 34% of employees it generates 31% of export and 31% of income of all manufacturing companies in Slovenia. Metal processing sector employs arround employees. The Slovenian metal-processing industry realised 7,5 bn of total income in Foreign trade represents almost 70% of total income. The metal-processing industry in Slovenia employs over people in almost companies. In next chart the shares of the metal-processing industry relative to the whole manufacturing industry of Slovenia are shown. 13 Following chart illustrates shares of income of subsectors for all metal processing industry branches. The metalprocessing industry made 1,97 bn in value added in 2014 which represents almost 30% share of the entire national manufacturing industries. Value added levels per employee differed from branch to branch, but they were highest in the transport equipment industry. 14 Export Most of export value is result of foreign sales from motor vehicle producers and automotive industry's suppliers. Forging, steel constructions, mechanical parts and components and machine building are also among strongest exporters. Majority of products exported is sold into European Union (Germany, France, Italy, Austria, ); Balkan region is a traditional export market and far-east, fast growing markets are also becoming more and more common destination. Workforce Metal processing industries boasts a long industrial tradition. This, coupled with good command of foreign languages (90% of population is able to communicate in in at least one foreign language and 70% of population in at least two of them) forms a competitive edge. Technologically-minded, highly educated (in metal processing industries: 16% university degree, 62% secondary school) employees represent a workforce that is not cheap, but cost-effective. 3

15 The Metal-processing industry association The Metal-processing Industry Association is a branch association organised within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS). The Association formulates standpoints and policy towards legislative bodies, governmental institutions along with other international and national associations and social partners. To increase the competitiveness and financial efficiency of its members, the Metal Processing Industry Association organises joint promotional activities, promotes consulting and development projects, participates in the development of the professional training system and implements statutory authorisations in connection with the protection of domestic industrial production. The Association co-operates in the drawing up of strategies and policies on national and international level. It also represents the interests of its members and provides them with a range of information and consultations.
