As many other cities we can boast of great food and great restaurants that can satisfy one s hunger and scrupulous taste for good quality food which further can please Maputo s International culture. Two such great Restaurants that have newly opened are D Vino Restaurant and News Café Situated on the marginal, next to the Fabulous Polana Casino. Upon entering D Vino, you are absorbed into a warm, sophisticated and sleek atmosphere, if their chairs which enfold you in luxury does not impress you then D Vino s menu will certainly do the Job which boasts and delivers an array of mouth watering appetizers from Grilled Calamari (170 mt) to Beef Carpaccio (270mt). Fresh Salads such as the Caprese (270mt) to the Honey Chicken (325mt), their Swiss Chef prides himself on Fish Dishes which are delectable such as their Sole (755mt) Tuna Steaks (535mt) and ofcourse in the trend of great Mozambican restaurant s, Prawns and Lobsters! It would be unforgivable to not mention their succulent lamb chops (670mt) amongst other meat and chicken dishes. For the Vegetarians, Vegetable Pasta and Tart and for your sweet tooth Cream Caramel, cherries Jubilee and chocolate mousse to name a few. To enjoy the meal you have an extensive wine list from Portugal and South Africa to round off the package. D Vino is open for Lunch and Dinner daily from 12:00 till 23:00 with the exception of Sunday (12:00 to 17:00). D Vino can seat 100 patrons within their aircondioned sumptuous interior and an additional 30 seats available in their charming outside courtyard area. D Vino has a unique service within their restaurant offering three private dining rooms that have plasma screens, data connectivity and independent waiters to allow for private meetings or just some secluded privacy for a special event. Refined Elegancy coupled with great Food and excellent service makes this restaurant undoubtedly the new hot spot in Maputo. The famous Newscafe Restaurant is situated on a mezzanine level above D Vino, which has an unassuming charm, with a mix of sophistication to a great relaxed Vibe! Appetizing Tramessinis (Gorgonzola Chilli chicken for 290Mt), Paninini s (Chicken and Jalapeno 280Mt), Wraps (Chicken and Bacon 350Mt), Finger foods and ofcourse their famous News Platter make this restaurant a great meeting point. The food is delicious, wholesome and service is fast. Be it a lunch date, or a need to feed ravenous children after school or on the way home from work you need a good meal, then look no further! You could also try their Chicken Bites, bbq chicken kebabs, vegetable spring rolls or their Portuguese snacks such as Prego rolls (270Mt) or news sausage served with chips, bbq dip and honey mustard mayonnaise! Smoothies such as the Mango madness Freezo and choc mint Freezo and teas such as Organic African Nectar caters to every palate and age. Newscafe is open daily from 12:00 till late with the exception of Monday when they are closed.
