McCoy Memorial Day Weekend May 24-27, 2013 Happy Birthday Joe Ring - June 7 Happy Anniversary Gerry & Esther Eckhart - June 6 Joe & Carol Ring - June 7 At 9 a.m. on Thursday, a caravan of the Dishmans, Johnsons and Richardsons met at a shopping center south of Green Cove Springs to head to the Square Meal in Salt Springs for breakfast. From there we went to the camp grounds, got checked in and set up on our sites. Once again Al had trouble with his A/C. With a little help from a tech at Camping World, he got the front A/C working. Bull and Wiener came in a bit later and got set up - including their zoo. Sharon and Pam joined us followed by Trudy. Just before dark Joe and Buddy arrived and got set up. While Al and Bull went swimming, Tressa and Sue worked on stuffing and finishing nine neck pillows to be taken to the VA Medical Center in Lake City. We were blessed, in the late afternoon, with a bit of rain, which helped to cool things off. As dinner was on your own each of us had our meals, then

2 some of the ladies played cards while the rest of us enjoyed watching a beautiful full moon peek out from behind the clouds. Friday morning, Linda pitched in and helped Al cook a great breakfast of french toast and sausage - and Linda doesn t even like french toast! We also enjoyed some fresh water melon thanks to Sue. John and Don decided to explore - going down a STEEP trail and finding all sorts of interesting things - what is that building? The Lake Oklawaha RV Resort is located on the Rodmen Reservoir - there was a lot of beautiful scenery and the staff went out of their way to be sure we had everything we needed. Seems like we just finished breakfast when we all loaded up and headed back to the Square Meal for lunch. D and Jim joined us before they headed out on their summer trip (remember to send us some pictures D). A couple of the guys chose to eat cobbler and ice cream rather than a full meal. A quick trip to the new Dollar General - can t pass up a chance to bargain shop - and then we headed back to the campground. Sue and Tressa decided to take a dip in the pool - how many laps did you swim, Sue? Of course, in between swimming and eating there were more cards. Deb arrived later in the afternoon - just in time to eat - then got herself set up in her empty rig. Dinner was delicious beef stew, rice and all the yummy fixings folks brought to go with it. Saturday we started the day off with a big breakfast - eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, juice and coffee... thanks again Linda for pitching in! After the Chapter meeting, some of the ladies made a trip to the Thrift Store - and actually found some great bargains - including some flowers and a pillow for Debi s rig - she was supposed to have a gentleman coming to look at her rig so wanted to make it look pretty. John, Don, Joe, Buddy and Debi worked on the window shades and fix an outlet. We decided to skip lunch and replace it with an ice cream social with all the fixings provided by Linda and Frank. Susan and Robert drove in just in time to enjoy that, then she swam and ran while Robert read the paper and rested his eyes. When she had finished with her exercise, Susan came over and learned how to play Hand and Foot (never did get to ask her if she liked it). Della had 5 guests drive in - her son and daughter-in-law, an old friend from way back who brought a friend and her son, who helped with grilling chicken breasts for dinner. After dinner, we enjoyed playing 6 games of Card Bingo. Sunday morning, following a continental breakfast, Sharon gave the devotional. A prayer was said to honor those who we remember for their service. Linda, Sue and Tressa took time to swim again while Frank sun bathed - in the shade. For lunch, we enjoyed hamburgers, cooked by Bull and Don, with every kind of condiment and sides you could think of - and great desserts made by some of the ladies. The animal races scheduled for Tea Time were delayed until after dinner. Everyone just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful day. Dinner was Gotta-Go - meaning that we wisely ate all the left-overs so that we could clean out the refrigerator. When we finished cleaning up it was time for Jurassic Downs - Sue made a great cashier, John, Al and

3 Tressa took turns rolling the dice and moving the runners. Lots of fun, great laughs and some happy winners. Afterwards, one more game of Hand and Foot for the die-hards, then everyone hit the hay for a good night s rest. It was pack up and head for home on Monday - with a little delay as Sharon had trouble starting her motor home. John and Don worked on it - no go - even trying to jump her off. Bull slid under the rig, by-passed the solenoid and got it cranked. Everyone headed out - except Bull & Weiner - with some of us stopping for breakfast at the Golden Corral in Paltka - thanks Deb for chauffeuring us! We re Back - Frank and Linda Diegel are back camping with us after a brief break - with their new rig. They and their pups joined us Friday morning and they got right back into the swing of things - pitching in and helping with all the cooking, swimming, and just plain having a great time. While Linda is still working, they are looking forward to camping with us on a regular basis again - and taking trips here and yon - It s great to have them back with us. A SPECIAL WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST KAMPING KLAIBER Kole Markus Klaiber was born on at 2:07 p.m. He weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Mom and baby reported as doing well Congratulations to Grandpa Jim and Grandma Paula - Good job, Mom Casey! Safe Keeping - This might work in your home as well as in your RV - Door must be hollow - cut a circle out of the top, insert a tube (be sure to fix it so it doesn t fall all the way inside the door), with a screw top - a flat piece of metal attached to the top should hold it up, yet allow for it to be secreted away. Many of us have pets that we take with us - Carry a current photo of your pet with you, in case you become separated. In addition to an identity microchip, consider a tag with your mobile number on it. To indicate it is a special number, you might want to put TRAVEL TAG on it - in place of your address. Most pet stores and some Wal- Marts have machines where these can be made while you watch. Please remember to send in any suggestions for inclusion in the newsletter!

4 Crockpot White Chocolate Mess Ingredients: 1 - package two layer white cake mix 1-3 oz package instant French vanilla or white chocolate pudding mix 4 - eggs 1 - cup water 2 - cups sour cream ¾ - cup vegetable oil 1 - cup white chocolate chips Preparation: Spray a 4-quart crockpot with non-stick cooking spay and set aside. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and pudding mix. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs with the water, then add the sour cream and oil and beat until smooth. Add to the dry ingredients and beat well. Add the white chocolate chips. Pour into the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, until top springs back when touched very lightly with finger. Makes 8-10 servings.
