3 Holiday Program Activities and Field Trip ホリデープログラムハイライト Highlight from Winter Holiday program. This Winter Holiday Program was a very active and busy one! One day of the program, we invited Kafuu class(3-4yrs old) over to our classroom and made slime together. The older kids from the After School Program did a great job in helping with any major preparation of the supplies needed! On another day, some of the children helped Akiko sensei to fix the classroom furniture with heavy duty drill. Bowling was also one of the biggest events in the winter program and, 11 children were able to participate. After the games, Chisato and Ayumu analyzed the scores and figured out the ranking from 1st to 11th place. The most enjoyable event for the students, however, was ice skating!! It was a first-time for students of the CDC to ever go on an ice skating field trip, likewise; it was the first time for most of the children in the After School Program. No matter how nervous they were in the beginning, they found slipping and sliding on the ice entertaining as well! Please be aware, the School Age Program team will plan many fun activities for the Spring and Summer!

4 Holiday Program Activities and Field Trip ホリデープログラムハイライト 冬休みホリデープログラムハイライト この冬休みのホリデープログラムはとてもアクティブで忙しい 毎日でしたね ある日はCDCからかふうクラス 3-4歳児ク ラス を教室に招いてスライムを一緒に作りました 大きい子 供たちは計量したり材料の準備を上手くやってくれました 他の日には何人かの生徒が本格的なドリルを使ってアキコ先生 が教室の家具を組みなおすのを手伝ってくれましたね ボーリ ングも楽しかったです 11名が参加して ゲームの後ちさとさ んとあゆむ君がみんなのスコアを分析して1位から11位までの 順位を割り出してくれました そして 何よりも楽しかったの はアイススケート CDCの遠足として記念すべき初めてアイス スケートに行きました ほとんどの子供たちにとっても初めて のスケートで 最初はちょっと緊張していたけれど スリップ やスライディングもスケートの楽しみの一つとしてエンジョイ できましたね 就学児プログラムの先生チームはこの春休み 夏休みにむけて 楽しい企画を練っていますよ ご期待ください

5 Tetsu-Tabi Shunta and Taiyo went on a Tetsu-Tabi trip during the winter holidays with their father. Tetsu-Tabi is a trip to various places while riding a train. They flew to Haneda, Tokyo where they started taking several different trains to go all the way down to Kokura, Kita Kyusyu. They spent one night in a Jumbo ferry boat from Kobe to Takamatsu in Shikoku island then they rode several trains again to Kokura in this trip. Their father shared with us some photos from their trip, and they are wonderful! Certainly, this trip has got to be one of the most valuable experiences for the boys and many great memories were shared by their family! I`d like to go on a Tetsu-tabi too!

6 Tetsu-Tabi しゅんた君とたいよう君はお父さんと一緒にこの冬休み 鉄 旅 に行ってきたそうです 鉄旅 とは鉄道乗り継ぎの旅で すね まず東京の羽田までは空路で そこから彼らは様々な 電車 鉄道を乗り継いでずーと南下して北九州小倉まで行きま した 途中神戸から四国高松までジャンボフェリーで船中泊し て さらに小倉まで陸路の鉄旅が続きました お父様が写真を 提供して下さいましたので掲載します 兄弟にとって素晴らし い経験をして家族との良い思い出になりましたね 私も鉄旅行 きたくなりました

7 Thank you so much for the books donation! The joy of reading books can't be described in words. It's something that you understand only by real experience. Our CDC Director has Ms. Julia have collected as many books as possible for the Afterschool children both in English and Japanese. In addition to this our Diversity and Welfare Section Senior Manager Ms. Michele Thompson has donated many books from the US. Also, she is coming up new her ideas and suggestions to improve our Afterschool. We are very thankful to both of our managers for the love they shower for our program. We are planning to set up a mini space for our children to bring in the atmosphere to enhance their reading skills. Reading has a significant number of benefits are as listed below. 1. Mental Stimulation 2. Stress Reduction 3. Knowledge 4. Vocabulary Expansion 5. Memory Improvement 6. Stronger Analytical Thinking 7. Improved Focus and concentration 8. Better writing skill 9. 8 本の寄付をありがとうございました 読書の楽しさは言葉では説明できません 実際本に接することでしか理解できないものです 私たちのCDCディレクタージュリアはアフタースクールプログラムの子供たちのためにできるだけ多くの英語と日本語の本を準備してくれ ます これに加えてこの度 多様化 職場厚生支援セクションシニアマネージャーのミシェルトンプソンさんから 米国からお持ちに なった多くの子供向け書籍をご寄贈iいただきました また彼女はアフタースクールプログラムを改善するために新しいアイデアや提案を してくださっています 両マネージャーが私たちのプログラムのために注いでくださる愛情にとても感謝しています 私たちは子供たちの読むスキルを高めるためる雰囲気を持ち込むためのミニ読書エリアを設置する予定です 読書には以下のような利点があります 1. 精神的刺激 2. ストレス軽減 3.. 知識 4. 語彙の拡張 5. 記憶力の増進 6. 分析的思考の増幅 7. 洞察力や集中力の向上 8. 文章力の強化 9. 静けさ 10. 無料エンターテイメント ワオ 驚くべき恩恵ですね 子供たちがこれらの恩恵による果実を得るよう応援しましょう これらの恩恵は大人も得ることができますよ

9 Outside Play Learning and acquiring knowledge is a vital aspect of a child`s life, however, playing with friends and being able to move freely around outside is just as essential. Children benefit a lot of things when playing outside. Which include being provided with the exercise they need, building up their immune system and also stimulating the imagination of their young minds; not to mention, the amount of Vitamin D they get from the sun whenever they stay outside to play. During the Holiday Programs here at OIST, the students are given ample amount of time to play out under the sun. Students are taken to the CDC playground, and there, they enjoy fun games such as tag, freeze tag and simply playing with the balls or play tools they take with them from the After School classroom.

It is a festival to drive away the evil spirits that bring misfortune and bad health with them by throwing soybeans to a demon(oni) and eat sushi roll for good luck. 節分には豆まきをし 病気など悪いものを退散させ 恵方に向かって巻き寿 司を食べると縁起が良いと言われています We plan to make sushi rolls as cooking activity on Friday, February 2nd. そこで 節分にちなんだ巻き寿司クッキングを2月2日 金 に行いたいと思います We will put rice on seaweed, spread it out, and put cucumber on it! We will eat them as our afternoon snack. It seems things are more delicious to eat things that are hand made. 海苔にご飯をのせて広げ きゅうりを巻いて出来上がり 午後のおやつに食べたいと思います 自分で作った巻き寿司は格 別です
