Everyone joined hands together to clap for the champions..in the First place was Tania Salaskar, Second Place Aarya Damle, and the Third place Agastya Nadadhur. 2

4 MYP LA FÊTE DE ROIS» (THREE KINGS DAY) T he French Department celebrated the festival «L Épiphanie» on 8 th January L Épiphanie or «La Fête de Rois» (Three Kings Day) is actually celebrated on 6 th January i.e. on the 12 th day after Christmas. The significance of the festival is that, it is believed that on the 12 th day after the Jesus was born, the three wise men Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar who came from different continents (Asia, Africa and Europe) brought gifts of gold for Jesus. Traditionally, they celebrate this festival by preparing a special cake called «La Galette» and hide a small object called «La féve» in the cake. However finds the object becomes a King for the day. French Department celebrated this festival on 8 th January 2015 with 6 graders and Dp 1 students. Teachers involved were Ms. Rashmi, Ms. Radhika, Ms. Shraddha. Dp students and Ms. Rashmi made a great contribution to this event. Our Principal and Vice Principal also contributed in their valuable time for this event. It was fun celebrating this event and the king for the day was Dhruv Dave from grade 6B. I thank the French department teachers and the French students of grade 6 and DP1 to make this event memorable. - Ms. Shraddha Prabhu (Grade 6A Homeroom/French teacher) 4

5 IBDP SVKM CULTURAMA 3 A nd the winner is. After listening to some very good performances at this year s Culturama 3 event at SVKM, who could blame our band for not shouting out RBK when the compère asked the audience, who they thought had won this year s event highlight. They came to rock the house and they did! Vikram (Vocals, Guitar), Malav (Keyboard), Aaryan (Vocals, Guitar), Dhruv (Bass) and Het (Drums) owned the stage like rock stars! With their rendition of the Green Day hit Gloria, they got the crowd on their feet and all hands up in the air. After a confident and lively performance the expectations were high! The vocal ensemble of SVKM prepared an impressive medley of some of Bollywood s crowd s favorites. Other schools, such as Podar, BD Somani or Jamnabai enjoyed plenty of support by their fans, but our rockers were too strong! In terms of stage presence, technical versatility and ensemble awareness they did a truly fantastic job! We would like to thank the DP students of SVKM for making our day a memorable one. Sharvari and Sakshi in particular looked after our band fabulously well so many thanks for that! The running of the whole day was smooth and efficient and we look forward to returning next year to this very well organized event. Congratulations again to Vikram, Malav, Aaryan, Het and Dhruv for winning this prestigious event and making us proud! 5
