1 Seña's First Vertical Tasting in London Achieves Historic Results London, 18 th May, In the first vertical tasting of Seña in London Seña came out on top against the First Growths of Bordeaux and Super Tuscans. The Seña vertical tasting was hosted by Eduardo Chadwick, President & Owner of Viña Seña, together with renowned wine personality Steven Spurrier, and Chilean wines expert Peter Richards MW. Over 50 members of the UK and international wine trade including sommeliers, journalists and buyers, gathered earlier today at the Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane to participate in Seña s first vertical tasting to be held in the United Kingdom. They blind tasted historic vintages of this Chilean Icon wine, dating from its conception in 1995, alongside Bordeaux Premiers Grands Crus Classés and Super Tuscans. In a milestone moment for Seña and other iconic Chilean wines, the blind tasting results from London placed Seña 2008 as the favourite wine, with Seña 2010 coming a close second.

2 The results of the London tasting were as follows: First place: Seña 2008 Second place: Seña 2010 =Third place: Château Margaux 2001 =Third place: Sassicaia 2005 Fifth place: Seña 2001 Sixth place: Tignanello 2008 Seventh place: Seña 2005 Eighth place: Seña 1997 Ninth place: Seña 1995 Tenth place: Château Lafite 1995 No information was provided about the vintages or the origins of any of the wines prior to the tasting. Each participant was requested to anonymously rate the wines giving their top five preferences. The morning-long seminar and vertical tasting was hosted by Eduardo Chadwick, President & Owner of Viña Seña, together with renowned wine personality Steven Spurrier, and Chilean wines expert Peter Richards MW. Eduardo Chadwick was thrilled with the results and commented, Our Aconcagua Valley in Chile is already recognised amongst the top world-class appellations, and the results of this tasting are a testament to Seña s great ageing potential. Seña was created as the first Icon wine from Chile in 1995, and over the past 17 years the wines have shown consistently high quality in blind tastings around the world. I am delighted he added, that for the first time we were able to present our En Primeur 2010 vintage, which will be released this September. I am also thrilled that the tasters placed it as one of their favourites, in the number two position, showing the great potential of our young vintages." Steven Spurrier added, Eduardo Chadwick is the recognised ambassador for Chilean wines, so it is right and proper that his own wines continue to shine in these blind tastings." In turn, Peter Richards MW commented Eduardo s blind tastings are always fascinating exercises, ambitious in conception and intriguing in results. This one was no different. Analysing how these fine wines were ageing, in their different styles, was a hugely worthwhile undertaking and the outcome speaks for itself. Bravo Seña-bravo Chile!

3 Tasting s Historical Background The vertical blind tasting of Seña follows in the spirit of the 1976 Judgement of Paris organized by Steven Spurrier, described by writer George Taber as "the tasting that changed the world of wine". During the 1976 Paris tasting, Taber attended as the sole media representative with Time Magazine where he worked as a correspondent at the time. The results at this tasting were similar to Seña s London tasting today, in the fact that a New World wine was placed top by tasters. In 1976, the winning wine was 1973 Stag s Leap Wine Cellars which beat 1970 Mouton-Rothschild, 1970 Montrose and 1970 Haut Brion, among other top Bordeaux wines. In 2001, famous wine critic Robert M. Parker Jr. said about the tasting, "the Paris Tasting destroyed the myth of French supremacy and marked the democratisation of the wine world. It was a watershed in the history of wine." In turn, Steven Spurrier himself commented afterwards, "The wine world is a much more open place now than it could have been imagined back in 1976, and if some comparative blind tastings show some surprises by recognising quality from previously unconsidered regions, that is what they are for." Following the Paris tasting, it is the 2004 Berlin Tasting* that will most likely be associated with elevating Chilean red wines to the status of some of the best wines of the world. On the 23rd of January 2004, fifty of Europe's most highly regarded wine journalists, writers and buyers gathered in Berlin for a blind tasting of 16 wines. The line-up included sought-after wines such as Château Lafite, Château Margaux, Château Latour, Tignanello, Sassicaia and Solaia. The result was that Viñedo Chadwick 2000 and Seña 2001 took the top two spots in this blind tasting. Seña s first vertical tasting tour in Asia** carried out during October 2011 marked another milestone for the wines of Chile. By tasting different vintages of Seña including its very first vintage, 1995, side by side with their Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé counterparts, these tasting results, giving the top spots to Seña, added a new dimension to the success of Chilean wines. 4 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION About Seña Following the sign of their intuition, in 1995 Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick pioneered Chile's first international joint venture, a bold and forwardthinking move in those times. They set a very challenging goal: to reach the full potential of Chile's wine country and to create a truly world-class wine. Seña's vineyard comprises 42 hectares and its design enhances the conservation and protection of the native ecosystems in accordance with the biodynamic principles under which it is farmed. Seña, a unique Chilean blend, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the structure while the Carmenere provides the Chilean terroir identity. About Eduardo Chadwick Eduardo Chadwick, Owner and President of Viña Seña and President of Viña Errázuriz, continued his father's legacy, sharing as he does his family passion for wine and pursuit of excellence. Viña Errázuriz, found in 1870 is described as the "quality benchmark from Chile" and as among the world s finest by the top world wine critics. He is a member of the Board of the Chilean Wine Exports Association based in Santiago, Chile. Eduardo is also a Major Supporter of the Institute of the Masters of Wine and recognised as one of the fifty most influential personalities of the wine industry, with Decanter. He is also a member of the "Chilean Brotherhood of Merit in the Wine Industry" to look after the authenticity, quality and image of Chilean wine.

5 Eduardo had been an active ambassador of the Chilean wines throughout the world. In 2004, he came up with the idea of doing a technical seminar to educate top European critics on Chile's unique terroir and to compare them vis-à-vis the most traditional regions of the world: Bordeaux and Tuscany. Guided by his faith in Erráruriz and Seña wines, Chadwick arranged a blind tasting in Berlin, and was followed by comparative tasting, pitching his wines against the best of these regions in blind equal conditions, and the big surprise for all was that his wines, Viñedo Chadwick 2000 and Seña 2001 came in first and second places atop all the revered First Growths and Super Tuscan wines. Now well-known simply as "The Berlin Tasting", this event has been recreated in the main capitals around the world, showcasing Chilean wines world-class status. About Steven Spurrier British-born, he joined the wine trade in London in He moved to Paris in 1970 and purchased Les Caves de la Madeleine, a small wine shop in the centre of the city. In early 1973, he created L Academie du Vin, the first independent wine school in France. Spurrier organized the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, which destroyed the myth of French supremacy over the New World wines, thus promoting the expansion of its production and awareness. For the next 15 years he was deeply involved in all aspects of the French wine business and in 1988 he was named La Personnalité de l Année (Oenology) for his contributions to French wine. That year he returned to the UK to become an international wine consultant and wine writer. Author of several books on wine and winner of numerous awards including Le Grand Prix de l Academie Internationale du Vin in 2001, which was only the third time it had been presented since 1982, he is also a Consultant Editor for Decanter Magazine and President of the Circle of Wine Writers. A renowned international palate, he has been the Chairman of the Decanter World Wine Awards since 2004, now the largest wine competition in the world. A Joined History British wine legend Steven Spurrier organized his historic Judgement of Paris Tasting in 1976, a landmark event that gave credibility to quality wines from California, dispelled the myth of the superiority of French wine, and prompted the expansion of wine production throughout the New World. In January 2004, Steven Spurrier and Eduardo Chadwick, owner Viña Errázuriz, led the tasting in Berlin, Germany, modelled after the 1976 Paris Tasting, and have held similar tastings on 15 other occasions. In that first tasting in 2004, the most expert European judges placed a group of legendary French and Italian wines a distance behind the Chilean wines, Viñedo Chadwick and Seña.

6 About Peter Richards MW Peter Richards is a wine expert, broadcaster, regular presenter on BBC1 cult show Saturday Kitchen, and many other TV and radio shows. One of his favourite pastimes is hosting events. His work can also be found in print. He has written two books: the Gourmand World Award-winning Wineries with Style and the André Simon short-listed The Wines of Chile. He has also contributed to and consulted on many other acclaimed books.
