Wtá jx Çzâà ULRICH LANGGUTH MOSEL THE HISTORY OF THE WINE ESTATE For over 200 years, since 1789, the Langguth Family, seated in Traben-Trarbach/Mosel has been trading in premium wines of this area. TRADITION for us means retaining the good things from the past, giving them a modern twist and handling the vines as well as making the wine as in the best ecological way. We produce wines typical of their terroir. We handle the grapes according to the traditions of our forefathers while respecting today s environmental necessities. The ULRICH LANGGUTH wine estate was founded in Traben-Trarbach / Mosel in 1921 by Ulrich Langguth. Our 4.5 hectare estate, situated exclusively on the steep, slatey slopes of Traben (Trarbach), Enkirch and Piesport some of the most beautiful countryside in Germany produces some of the finest wines of this region. The wine estate is now run by grandsons Patrick Ulrich and Markus Ulrich, together with their parents Rita and Ulrich Langguth. THE VINEYARDS: All of the vineyards of the ULRICH LANGGUTH wine estate are classified areas, situated on the steepest slopes, 85% are South-South-West facing. We grow 95% Riesling and 5% Reichensteiner. 1. Piesport GOLDTROEPFCHEN One of the best-known Riesling-producing vineyards in the Mosel valley of which we own a significant share. Our vineyards are situated on the much sought-after, South South-West facing slopes (which have never been subject to land consolidation) offering an exceptional microclimate which allows us to grow noble sweet GRAND CRU wines which can be laid down for 20 to 30 years. 2. Piesport GÜNTERSLAY This is a unique vineyard on a steep, South South-West facing slope, which produces wine of outstanding quality. The slate, however, contains some clay as opposed to its immediate neighbour the Goldtroepfchen. The wine, therefore, ages earlier and shows considerable depth. 3. Enkirch ELLERGRUB A GRAND CRU vineyard with an incredibly fertile, mineral-rich, slatey soil. It is the grey slate and its unique microclimate which gives the Ellergrub wines their interesting, mineral character typical of the Mosel area. These wines take time to mature. When picked at their peak, the Ellergrub grapes can produce wines which will keep for many years. 4. Traben GAISPFAD or On these steep, South South-West facing vineyards, spread over 3 terraces, we produce high-quality wines of distinctive character. These steep, slatey slopes directly overlooking the Mosel are a perfect place to produce the best of our very own dry wines and outstanding botrytis wines. 4 Finest Estate Rheingau Wines Weingut Hans Lang has been considered one of the best addresses for Rheingau Riesling wines for decades. Since 2014, Urban Kaufmann and his partner, Eva Raps, have been the names behind this brand. This house has always had holdings in top Rheingau vineyard sites. They are the basis for everything that is produced in the estate s cellar. Our sites are the focal point of our future work, says Urban Kaufmann, who took over the estate with Eva Raps in For me, being able to produce Riesling wines in the heart of the Rheingau is a dream come true, admits the novice vintner. He was previously the managing director of one of Appenzell s most renowned cheese dairies. Apart from being congenial culinary partners, wine and cheese have much in common as the site-specific aromas and flavors of their terroirs unfold during development. Whether it s a perfect Appenzeller or a perfect Wisselbrunnen Grosses Gewächs, both require the same degree of hard work and ambition. The vineyards Vinyard acerage: 20 Hektar (50 acres) Lagen: Hattenheim: Wisselbrunnen, Hassel, Schützenhaus; Hallgarten: Hendelberg Vine varieties: 80 % Riesling, 10 % Pinot Noir, besides Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay Urban Kaufmann For years, Swiss entrepreneur Urban Kaufmann traveled through some of Europe s best wine regions in search of the ideal place where he could realize his dream of owning a wine estate. During his search, he met with Eva Raps, the longtime managing director of the VDP, who brought him to Hans Lang in the Rheingau. After 40 years as a passionate winemaker, the experienced Rheingau vintner was looking for a successor with the right instinct to carry on his life s work. And thus, a remarkable project came into being: an excellent portfolio of vineyards, the search for something new, a soaring fantasy, and a craftsman s brilliance go hand in hand with the long-standing values of the Rheingau. A Feeling for Riesling and Pinot Kaufmann s partner, Eva Raps, is no stranger to the German wine scene. For many years, she was the managing director of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP, or Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), a position she pursued with great commitment. As for her new job she says: For me, it s wonderful to finally be able to implement the quality philosophy of the VDP at a wine estate of my own. Fortunately, we have just the right sites in our portfolio to do so. While the new Hattenheim team are devotees of the Rheingau s classic grape, Riesling, they are also Pinot enthusiasts: Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, and especially Pinot Noir, the variety with which the estate has attracted considerable attention in Germany for over twenty years. Continuity The decision to run a wine estate meant a change in careers for Urban Kaufmann and Eva Raps and an opportunity to implement their ideas. Yet, both appreciate the importance of continuity, not least to maintain the estate s traditional principles and high standards. Therefore, Hans Lang will provide advice and support to help the newcomers successfully make the transition. Uniting his invaluable experience as a cellar master with the impetus of the new owners ensures that this family-operated estate will continue to produce top-notch, handcrafted wines. Hans Lang has always been open to new ideas, be it the production of dry Rieslings, his pioneer work in the German Barrique Forum or his uncompromising pursuit of quality. By the early 1990s, he had already banished mash pumps from his cellar and had reverted to labor-intensive harvesting by hand to continually improve wine quality.

Long a proponent of ecologically friendly viticulture, Hans Lang has consistently strived to come even closer to nature by cultivating his grapes organically in recent years. Today, the estate numbers among the few members in the Rheingau branch of EcoVin. Already we can clearly see a refinement in our wines, but we re certain that this is only the beginning, says Eva Raps. The benefits of organic viticulture will become even more apparent in the future. We ll definitely be able to further improve the aromatic finesse of the wines from Wisselbrunnen, which is doubtlessly our finest site in Hattenheim. New owners: Urban Kaufmann and Eva Raps

MOSEL WINE ESTATE L O S E N B O C K S T A N Z The MO-RHE-NA Wine Export Association is pleased to introduce the sizeable wine-estate LOSEN-BOCKSTANZ, situated at the town WITTLICH with vineyards at Wittlich and Uerzig. The estate is family-owned and run by the excellent wine maker Thomas Losen with great dedication and care. He takes great pride in using the most modern cellar technique to achieve some fine, elegant wines. Some of the wines produced in the environment of WITTLICH show the distinctive character of the soil, partly loam, partly red sand-stone as compared to the slatey soil at Uerzig and other parts. 7 MOSEL Wine Estate STUDERT-PRÜM Owner / Winemaker: Stephan Studert Wine growing area: MOSEL Grape variety: White Wine: Riesling Red Wine: Dornfelder, The Studert family has been cultivating vines since 1581, today in the 12th generation. In 1805, vineyards which officially date back to 1256 and the estate house belonging to the St. Maximin Abbey in Wehlen, the "Maximinhof", were purchased in addition. Since the joining of the estates Stephan Studert and Peter Prüm (S.A.Prüm-Erben), the estate is named Studert-Prüm, Maximinhof) The wine-maker Stephan Studert say: having studied viticulture, the wine production is of special importance to us. In line with our philosophy, we avoid high yields in favour of the best possible quality and combine both traditional and modern wine-making methods. The meticulous selection of the grapes, gentle pressing and slow, temperature-controlled fermentation serve to preserve freshness, primary fruit aromas and bouquet. Wines of varying sweetness are produced which are rich in extract, elegant and which show fine fruit. For centuries our sites in the vineyards have been classified as best vineyards on the Mosel. Even today, 80% of our vineyards are planted with original ungrafted Riesling root-stock. Studert-Prüm wines achieve highest awards at national and international competitions. The granting of the Trophy and Double Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in England for one of their Trockenbeerenauslese was of special importance to them. Until 2014 vintage, the wine estate was member of VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), an association of the top German wine estates. In accordance with their guidelines, the Gutsweine (regional house wines) are the foundation of their quality pyramid. Riesling is the primary grape variety, but also Dornfelder is cultivated all of which are vinified to forth the maximum of their varietal character.

MOSEL Barbara Rundquist-Müller + Husband Winemaker Max Ferger The internationally recognized Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch, Erben Müller-Burgraef estate is located in the picturesque town of Bernkastel-Kues in the heart of the Middle Mosel. Here we cultivate 12 hectares (ca. 30 acres) of prime, steep Riesling sites. Among those sites are - apart from the inseparably to our estate connected - Berncasteler Doctor, Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler Graben, Bernkasteler Lay, Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich and Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Since several years we have also been cultivating a small amount of Pinot Noir. As with the Riesling, we attach the greatest importance to selective hand-harvesting and the most careful processing of the grapes. The Thanisch's can look back to centuries of winegrowing tradition. In 1882, the family acquired the Berncasteler Doctor vineyard, which owes its famous name to legend. A portion of it is today still a part of our estate. The Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch Erben Müller-Burggraef estate is owned by Barbara Rundquist-Müller and managed by a visionary team with continuous national and international success. Our estate uses intuition and technology to determine the proper cultivation and right timing in harvesting our individual top wines. For us, tradition and innovation are values that influence our work on a daily basis. Environmentally-friendly practices extend to the cellar where there is no use of artificial enzymes, sorbic acid (commonly used to stabilize wine), industrial cleaners and only minimal use of sulphur dioxide. Therefore, we attach great importance to the care of the soil and the vines, conscientiously paying attention to low yields. At harvest, we we consider physiogical ripeness over the specific weight of the must. This is the reason for the high quality of our wine, as only the physiological ripeness guarantees fully ripened aromas and flavours.

MOSEL V I L L A H U E S G E N / Traben-Trarbach Famous Vineyards: Trabener Würzgarten, Enkircher Steffensberg RIESLING REGION HISTORY The Mosel offers the best possible conditions for growing Riesling grapes and producing Riesling wine, the queen of white wines. The steep Devon slate slopes on the middle part of the Mosel River allow the vines a long ripening period, resulting in a taste which makes the Riesling wines so special and unique. The combination of Riesling grapes, slate soil and long ripening distinguish the taste of these wines: fruity and mineral with full harmony of acidity, body and extract. The HUESGEN family, at home in Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel since 1735, is proud of its successful tradition in the wine business. Today Villa Huesgen combines the experience of nine generations of winemaking with modern production technologies and a passion for creating outstanding Riesling wines. STEEP SLOPES AND WORK BY HAND All vineyards of Villa Huesgen are located at the middle part of the Mosel, in the highly regarded vineyards knows as Trabener Würzgarten and Enkircher Steffensberg. These steep slopes have always been the favourite terroir for the family wines. The vineyards are terraced, face south and southwest and belong to the highest wine classification level on the Mosel. The special Devon slate stone soil has excellent heat retention and only slight weathering, which gives the Villa Huesgen Riesling its distinctive taste and quality. Every wine is treated carefully by an experienced staff in numerous work cycles throughout the year. The grapes are separated carefully in a hand-selective harvest and are sorted according to maturity, usually in several selection steps. The very gentle processing of the grapes ensures that a maximum quality is achieved. Owner Ado Huesgen

MOSEL WINE ESTATE HUBERTUSHOF The wine estate HUBERTUSHOF is owned by the family Clüsserath and situated at Trittenheim on the MOSEL river. It comprises 5.5 hectares of firstclass vineyards in the village of Trittenheim and the famous site Altärchen and Apotheke. Mr. Clüsserath produces up to 90% RIESLING wines and concentrates on high-end qualities only. It is hard to tell the amount of GOLD medals this producer was awarded within the last few years. Hubertus Cluesserath grows 85% Riesling but he also makes top white wines from the grape varieties Kerner, Bacchus and Pinot Blanc, and his red wines are made from Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. All grapes are hand-picked. The soil is either sandy-loam (for the red wines) or blue-grey slate on the steep slopes where Riesling ripens best. More than 70% of all vineyards are planted on steep slopes. The yield per hectare is approx hectolitres. The wine estate has its own wine cellars underneath the house, cool enough for a long-lasting fermentation. About 60% of the casks are stainless steel tanks, the rest are wooden oak barrels. Mr. Cluesserath s philosophy: We see wine as a living product, a combination between technology, nature and creativity

MOSEL - SAAR Our vinery is one of the most traditional ones in this wine-growing region and is since the foundation in 1804 (by French Napoleon Bonapard) organized as a non-profit charity organisation to the benefit of sick and old people in hospitals. As one of the founders of the "Grosse Ring" (VDP) in the Mosel-Saar- Ruwer region in 1908 we emphasize quality. Our motto is: Committed to quality through tradition! Our Principles: The Vereinigte Hospitien look back on a long tradition of viniculture craft. This great pool of knowledge is the foundation of our business philosophy. We manage our 25 ha of mostly very steep vineyards nature-orientated and take ecological aspects into account. The treatment of the soil is very important. The vines are planted in rows and only fertilized when needed with natural fertilizers like straw or manure. Before winter these are pruned to a very shut length. Thus we are able to keep the vines from growing too many grapes quite willingly. The vineyards located along the Mosel river: "Trierer Augenscheiner" (in our exclusive possession) and "Piesporter Goldtröpfchen" The vineyards located along the Saar river: "Serriger Schloss Saarfelser Schlossberg" (in our exclusive possession), "Wiltinger Hölle" (in our exclusive possession), "Kanzemer Altenberg", "Scharzhofberger" and "Wiltinger Kupp" Wine Maker and estate manager

MOSEL - RUWER In 1882 Carl Ferdinand Freiherr von Stumm-Halberg bought the Grünhaus estate which consisted of vineyards, a farm, and extensive woodland. Investing heavily, he transformed it into one of the most modern of its time. The von Stumm s only son died early, so their daughter Ida received the estate as her dowry on the day of her wedding to Conrad von Schubert, later to be a lieutenant general. With the change of name at the end of the nineteenth century, the label changed too. Until today the unmistakeable art nouveau label has been used for all Rieslings from the estate. Dr. Carl von Schubert, who now runs the business, comes from the fifth generation of the family. His doctoral thesis examined the economy of viticulture on steep slopes. The Maximin Grünhaus estate lies at the foot of a long steep south-facing slope on the left bank of the Ruwer river, about two kilometres before it joins the Mosel. The estate belongs to the Von Schubert family and is divided into three separate but contiguous vineyards: the ABTSBERG, the HERRENBERG, and the BRUDERBERG. Each of these vineyards has its own distinct microclimate, gradient and soil composition, differences in terroir which explain the unique character of the wines made at Grünhaus. Work in the Maximin Grünhaus vineyards is conducted in close harmony with nature. Fertilisation is predominantly organic, and the vineyards have been planted with a cover crop of wild herbs and grasses. We use no pesticides or herbicides, maintaining the health of the grapes through intensive manual work instead. To ensure quality, yields are restricted to around hectolitres per hectare (hl/ha). The grapes are harvested by hand and, depending on the character of the vintage, several passes may be made through the vineyard. The main grape variety at Grünhaus is, and always will be Riesling, which makes up 94% of the total. A hectare of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois was harvested for the first time in In 2007, a further hectare was planted with Pinot Noir, for the first time in 150 years. The Grünhaus cuverie is sited conveniently close to the vineyards so that harvested grapes can be delivered to the press within a matter of minutes. Depending on the requirements of the harvest, the grapes can be macerated or subjected to whole bunch pressing in a modern pneumatic press. After natural clarifying overnight via sedimentation, the musts are brought to an optimal fermentation temperature, and fermented with naturally occurring wild yeasts in classic large oak casks (Fuder casks) or small stainless steel tanks. This promotes the optimal development of mineral flavours from the slate soil and ensures the longevity of the Rieslings. t the beginning of 2004, Stefan Kraml took charge of viticulture and viniculture at Grünhaus. Since that time, the wines of the estate have benefited from his uncompromisingly high standards. Owner Dr. Carl von Schubert and his winemaker

SAAR For over 1000 years, wine has been produced at Filzener Herrenberg. Since 1685 Weingut Reverchon has been privately owned. It was acquired by the Staadt family from the church and in 1921, the estate became the property of the Reverchon family. The size of the planted vineyards are 10 hectares with the Filzener Herrenberg as the most renowned vineyard of the Saar region, cultivating mainly Riesling (85%). The wine estate has a great reputation in Germany and abroad. The present manager of the estate since 2007 is Hans Maret and regards himself as a modern Saar traditionalist. He continues growing mainly Riesling, the grapes with an important history of the estate. The cellars and the house have been renovated and modernized; prerequisite for efficient production. We feel obliged to fully meet our customers highest requirements in the quality of our wines. The Estate Reverchon along the River Saar is famous for its Riesling label. The wines and sparkling wines have won numerous awards and will be found on the menus of famous hotels and restaurants as well as the dining rooms of professional institutions. The Filzener Herrenberg vineyard at Reverchon represents a terroir of great charm, which has traces of slate-accentuated white wines. The wines have plenty of citrus notes, apricot flavours and impress with their harmonic acidity. The Riesling range is supplemented by the burgundy products. Reverchon has a long tradition as a premium sparkling wine-manufacturer. The light simple wines are the basis for the production of their exquisite hand-turned sparkling wines produced by classic bottle fermentation.

RHEINGAU For us wine is a family affair. Wine and family - these are two inseparable pillars of our work. As a family winery, we give all our attention with passion the vines and the wine. We Bickelmaiers are the oldest winery in Oestrich. Meanwhile, these are more than 370 years that are covered in documents until the year Today, we manage in the 11th & 12th generation 15 hectares of vineyards. Traditional methods, modern technology, a lot of knowledge and intensive exchange between father and son, with colleagues and friends - to develop an individual style and taste in the wines, that is the goal of our work. The foundations for top quality wines is laid out in the vineyard, because healthy grapes is the precondition for top-quality wines. So we are very careful that work consistently on the vine and on the ground, gentle and environmentally conscious proceeds. The health of the soil and the soil life is the basis for strong, healthy vines. Reduced yields, individual quality work and targeted crop management are a matter of course.

RHEINGAU Schloss Vaux originates from the Chateau Vaux near Metz in Lothringen/France. It was in 1886 when German merchants bought Chateau Vaux from the Marquis de Viville. They made Champagne for the German market until the end of 1st World War when they got expropriated and had to leave the country. In 1919 the "Champagnerkellerei" Schloss Vaux was founded in Berlin, in 1922 finally it moved to Eltville/Rheingau and was established as a highly quality oriented sparkling wine manufactory. Schloss Vaux produces sparkling wines exclusively applying the "méthode champenoise". Leading winegrowers in the Rheingau vinify the base wines according to Schloss Vaux s strict specifications. The sparkling wines mature up to 36 months on their yeast. Schloss Vaux is considered by connoisseurs to be a highly individual sparkling wine producer since their most prestigious sparkling wines are made from classified single sites (Erbacher Marcobrunn, Assmannshäuser Höllenberg, Steinberg, Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg).

RHEINHESSEN In the middle of the hilly Rheinhessen lies the old market spot Bechtheim. Surrounded by gentle slopes open to the Rhine plain the vines of Bechtheim were erected. The SPIESS family has grown for generations wine at and around Bechtheim. The Romans already cultivated wine in this area along the river Rhine. Thick layers of loess, loess marl, lime marl and sandy clay soils provide excellent conditions for the vines of the Spiess family. Hasensprung, Geyersberg, Stein, Heilig- Kreuz and Rosengarten are counted among the best terroirs. Working in the vineyard: Quality is the highest target as well as making sure that man and nature live in harmony. In wooden barrels the grapes mature to top wines. The high quality red wines are treated pursuant to the old classical must fermentation. These red wines are amongst others the best in Germany. The white grapes are pressed gently and the slow fermenting procedure and ripening in slightly cooled barrels keep the aroma and flavour. The natural carbonic acid stays in the wine. This is how the SPIESS wines produce that distinctive fruity fine silky taste. We only bottle that satisfies our expectations and demands.

RHEINHESSEN The Wine Estate History: The estate is family owned since It is owned by Wilfried Geil and his son Thomas, oenologist, who is responsible for the vineyards and the cellar. Size of the planted Vineyards 20 hectares Location of the Vineyards EIMSHEIM: Sonnenhang, Römerschanze, Hexelberg METTENHEIM: Michelsberg, Schlossberg,Goldberg BECHTHEIM: Gotteshilfe Soil: Deep loess, chalk and partly loam Grape varietals grown: RIESLING 32%, SILVANER 30%, Müller-Thurgau 13% Gewürztraminer 4%, Huxelrebe 4%, Pinot Gris 3%, Scheurebe 3% RED grapes: Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) 4%, Portugieser 4% The Estate Policy: To apply the greatest care and attention to a limited pruning, the latest possible grape selection and to achieve the highest possible sugar reading. Temperature controlled fermentation.

RHEINHESSEN This is our home With our winery we are continuing in the tradition of two winemaking families while pursuing our own very special approach. We are passionate winemakers with visions of our own but our feet planted firmly on the ground. And as down-to-earth people we have opted for a close-to-nature winemaking method. Julia and Johannes Landgraf J2 stands for the power of double passion and the interplay of mutual inspiration. We are fortunate enough to share a philosophy of living and working: our conscious commitment to quality. We bear the responsibility for our work in a joint partnership and decide jointly what is good for us and our wines. Strong character The cellar is important. However, it is more important for the wines to take on their characteristic quality before they leave the vineyard. In the cellar we tap the full scope of our creativity, individually and ultimately both together. In order to produce multi-layered and authentic wines we combine cutting-edge cellar technology with old elements. Our wines remain as natural as they were whilst they were growing and they have their idiosyncrasies just like we do. With our wines, we distinguish between three quality segments for dry wines: estate wines, local wines and single site wines. Of course, we also offer fruity and noble sweet wines with the designations "Spätlese" and "Auslese". These range from lightness and elegance to opulent Auslese" varieties. The roots of quality The source of the distinctive character of our wines is found in our vineyards and starts with quality-oriented vine-pruning focused on the harvest. This is followed by intensive attention to the foliage, which has a major bearing on the harvest. The culmination is selective hand-picking in several stages. We nourish our soil with natural humus and do not irrigate or use artificial mineral fertilizers. As a result our vines root in the deeper layers of earth. At these depths they find sufficient nutrients and water and consequently enjoy stable growth. We achieve a good balance by combining targeted soil cultivation with judiciously placed green areas. In this way we avoid overtaxing our vines and can expect the best quality.

RHEINHESSEN Staatliche Weinbaudomäne Oppenheim.. The domain was created in 1895 by Ernst Ludwig Grand Duke of Hessen and Rhine. Today, the agriculture school and viticulture service center oversee 22 hectares of vineyards from some of the most optimal and famous locations in Oppenheim and Nierstein. The wines produced are operated in conjunction of both tradition and progress. Oppenheim produces rich, juicy wines from nutrient-rich loess and limestone residual soils. In Nierstein and Nackenheim, we harvest predominantly fine, facet-rich Riesling from sandy slate of the Permian red bedding (known as the red slope ). The wines are fermented at a low temperature and special qualities are stored in traditional wooden casks. The domain offers a large selection of traditional and typical varieties of the region, such as Riesling and Silvaner. The state domain is a member in the VDP e.v.: the association of German predicate- and quality wine producers. That means the wine are produces on highest quality controls and according to the special - burgundy like quality pyramide, having a Riesling GG from the oldest single Vineyard of Germany: the Niersteiner Glöck in sole exclusivity. The Winemaker is Mr. Eller. His wines are fermented at a low temperature and special qualities are stored in traditional wooden casks. The domain offers a large selection of raditional and typical varieties of the region, such as Riesling and Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Gris and Noir as well as Portugieser and St. Laurent.. Winemaker Mr. Eller

Welcome to our family estate! organic wines Be accompanied into a wine world full of tradition and progress, quality and enjoyment, of sympathy and trust. We are a third generation family owned estate, committed to grow high-quality wines, meet the upscale international standards. Our main goal is the customer s satisfaction, meet with kindness and expertise. Quality is our challenge yesterday, today and tomorrow. Axel and Jeanette Welter continue with enthusiasm what has been promote their ancestors for over 60 years: produce distinctive wines in a marvelous landscape. The estate covers 42 hectares in the best sites around Engelstadt by now. What you do not love can not be done. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, German Writer) The success of a trip depends to a large extent on the people who accompany you and is based on the experiences and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The Welter team is a significant component of our competence. Both, Janette Welter and her brother Axel, have a well defined goal because the profession is the mission. Then the ultimate ambition of producing terrific wines become apparent. Environmental protection is an opportunity we enjoy to use. A wide range of high-quality wines, as well as responsible handling of nature, make the special quality of Welter products outstanding. The production of top wines is a challenge and an art on itself. Extensive work in the spring and summer are the basis for a successful harvest in autumn. This is the only way to produce the high quality grapes, which is the basis for the production of these special wines. In our opinion, the only way to produce exceptional wines is the abdication of excessively high yields. From personal conviction, we try to keep nature in balance. This has developed a way of life that is shared by more and more people. Our goal is the production of top wines in respect of the environment, culture and human beings. The controlled ecological cultivation and the responsible handling of nature makes us special. Our wine selection The facets of our wines are complex and thus are also the different perspectives from which they are viewed. Traditional methods are used in their development and expansion, just as before. What s new is that we are now able to understand the natural process much better and can therefore accompany him more attentive and with more control. The expansion in the barrel is maintained with us since With heart, hand and mind, we are a member of the Barrique Forum Palatinate in We have the advantage to cultivate our vines on multifaceted, deep soils of being around St. Martin. So the most diverse grape varieties are planted according to their needs on the respective terroir. The soil types ranging from loam to limestone potter s loam up to the red sandstone. VDP. SPITZENTALENT PHILIPP KIEFER In 2003, the talent support program was established by the VDP Pfalz/Palatinate. Its aim is to support the qualitative development of viticulture in the Palatinate and to secure positive developments in the field of talented young researchers. It is a concern to the 26 VDP Pfalz wineries to take care not only about their own members coming under the succession of generations, but to demonstrate with this unique nationwide initiative also part of the future responsibility.

PFALZ Organic Wine Estate WEINGUT WALTER MERK The MERK Wine Estate, situated in the PFALZ wine growing area is family owned by Walter and Rita Merk and run by their sons Jochen and Gerrit. It comprises 20.7 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards are planted with the white grape varietals Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer and with the red grape varietals Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Dornfelder and Portugieser. The soil is loamy and only natural fertilizer is being applied, NO chemical products at all. Walter Merk turned the entire vineyard into ecological/organic production in 1990 and he is a member of the German Association of organic products called BIIOLAND. This association has established strict regulations of how to cultivate the vineyards and raise the vines. This kind of production results in yields of around 30 to 40 percent less then regular wine production. Quantities therefore are limited and prices consequently cannot be veryllow.

PFALZ / Südliche Weinstrasse Our great traditional wines are the expression of our great winery experience and deep passion for over three generations. Thomas Siegrist, working today with his sonin-law and cellarmaster Bruno Schimpf, is one of the major founders of the German Barrique-Forum. Both are known for their untiring visionary and enthusiastic pioneering spirit enabling them to create exceptional wines of highest quality, which have found their place among the best in the world. Our winery is located in the Southern Palatinate close to the french border in the scenic village of Leinsweiler, adopted home of Max Slevogt, a famous german impressionist painter. Below Slevogt s Castle grows our Grand Cru, on the millennial Sonnenberg hill. The mild Mediterranean climate in combination with our fertile Terroirs and precious winemaker Heritage give us the best conditions to create wines of incomparable elegance that reveal the secrets of earth and life. We treat our soils with greatest respect and dedication for nature in order to bring the best out of it deep and generous wines which translate clearly our philosophy of quality, aesthetics and elegance. We elected Hermes, the messenger of the gods, as our ambassador and symbol. Enjoy the divine message

GUT HERMANNSBERG The formerly Königlich-Preussische Weinbaudomäne was founded in 1902 as a state-owned viticultural domain focusing exclusively on Riesling. It was built on a impressive hillside in a beautiful panoramic position above the river Nahe. View on Gut Hermannsberg from VDP. GROSSE LAGE Steinberg Johannes Grau In 2009 Jens Reidel and Dr. Christine Dinse discovered the potential oft the vinery. They bought the vinery and agreed on the new name Gut Hermannsberg, referring to one of the best vineyard sites in the Nahe region which is besides that a monopole site of Gut Hermannsberg. Achim Kirchner (mamaging director) and Karsten Peter (managing director and winemaker) are managing the fortunes of the vinery in cooperation. In collaboration with their team they consequently focus on the Riesling- Tradition of Gtu Hermannsberg. Due to the exposition and soil conditions of their excellent sites, they vinify fine and expressive Rieslings. In cooperation with Smart-Wines, Achim Kirchner and Tobias Fricke are in charge of sales and exports. Today Gut Hermannsberg is one of Germany s most exciting Riesling-Estates. This traditional vinery/company/estate, right on the river Nahe, owns 30 ha of vineyards which are all classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGEN by the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter/ Germany s association of top-vintners. The steep slopes of Gut Herannsberg like Kupfergrube, the monopole-site Hermannsberg and the unique Traiser Bastei rank among Germany s and the world s the best Riesling-Sites. They are the cradle of wines showing a peculiar brilliance and extraordinary minerality A guesthouse having five exclusive suites and six elegant double bedrooms, each one a unicum, is also part of the estate. The unique ensemble offers a wonderful view over the Nahe valley and is a recommendation for seminars and conferences (up to 18 persons) or larger family celebrations.

NAHE Staatsweingut Bad Kreuznach.. In the year 1900 the foundation of the "Provinziale Weinbauschule," or provincial viniculture and viniculture school, and the development of the state estate helped co-design and shape the development of the Nahe viticulture over 100 years. The state-estate of Bad Kreuznach, along with the agricultural and viticultural school, display an important emphasis on the traditional, fundamental training of qualified winegrowers. Approximately 20 hectares of vineyards on steep slopes take precedence for this task. The vineyard locations stand out due to the underlying geological material such as granite or old shell stones, gravel etc.. The surface s organization and the specific microclimate help distinguish and set in apart in order to create distinguishable wine characters. Therefore noble and elegant wines develop slowly due to their ripening on weathered rocks from volcanic origin. The special single vineyard Kahlenberg, lying directly above the state-estate, creates fruity, aromatic wines from loess and terrace-crushed stones over Permian red-bedding. The Winemaker is Mr. Gies. The estate grows grape varieties such as Riesling, Silvaner, Scheurebe and red Portugieser.

BADEN Schloss Salem located right by the Bodensee lake, Schloss Staufenberg in Durbach and Schloss Rheinburg by the Rhine river Hochrhein represent southern German history of the BADEN region. The count Markgraf Christoph is responsible for the first wine law in 1495, even older then the German purity law for beer. The (count) Markgraf Carl Friedrich von Baden shaped the present wine landscape of Baden considerably. He initially started planting the genuine Klingelberger (Riesling) with visible effects on the Baden wine area until today. This area is in sole possession of Schloss Staufenberg. With prince Max, the last chancellor of the German empire, the grape varietal Müller-Thurgau, a cross between Riesling and Silvaner, was taken to the Bodensee area. Possessing close to 135 hectares, the Count of Baden with his wine estate Markgraf von Baden is the most important private vintner or wine grower in Germany with 100 hectares of the best Bodensee sites, 9 hectares in Gailingen on the river Rhine (Hochrhein) and about 25 hectares in Durbach Schloss Staufenberg. A wide range of diverse wines with individual character are the result of the different terroirs and locations. The Philosophy: For us our core values and philosophy starts with a respect for nature and our environment. Our lands and soils are our most precious asset. We are winegrowers, gardeners and custodians of the landscape for future generations. We nurture quality and fertility from our vineyards and as a result our vines are vigorous and healthy. Nature helps us, with wild herbs and grasses across our vineyards. Our philosophy is to stay out of nature's way! She rewards respect with the quality style, and character of our wines. The three secrets of the count s excellent wines roots in the art and skill of the cellar master and the consequent quality orientated work in the vineyards. VDP. 30 BADEN HUNN Estate is a family owned winery in the fifth generation. It s located in the centre of the growing area of Baden. Our wines are carefully made with passion and full dedication to our traditions. The unique combination of our soils, vineyard terroirs and grape varieties, underlined by our winemakers signature results in wines with unique flavour profiles. Today we are proud to offer top wines that are highly competitive in global markets. Our wines are fruit driven and provide a joyful experience for wine lovers all over the world. Numerous international awards and the positive feedback from our customers confirm our approach of producing state of the art wines. They match perfectly to fine food or to any other occasion. The Hunn Estate Three quarters of the vineyards are covered with Pinot grape varieties. Spicy Pinot Noir and Pinot Rosé, Pinot Blanc full of spirit, full-bodied Pinot Gris and aromatic Chardonnay wine characterize the young family winery, which was founded in 1982 by Felix Hunn and has been run for some years by his son Kilian and his wife Martina. The vineyard makes the quality The fertile loess soil is covered by grass and plants and builds a perfect habitat for numerous plants and wild life. Older vines are lovingly maintained or, if necessary, continuously renewed by newer plants. The yield is being carefully controlled and reduced. Germany s Pinot paradise The sun-flooded wine country of Baden is the third largest wine growing region in Germany. More than half of the 15,50 hectares are planted with Pinot varieties. The excellent soils and the Mediterranean climate offer optimal growing conditions for this demanding vine, so Baden has rightly got the nick name Pinot paradise. Meanwhile, Baden is one of the most important Pinot Noir regions in the world. The Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Chasselas are at home here, too. In addition, some exclusive grape varieties, which yield a limited production of particularly unmistakeable wines can be found in this picturesque region. Passion for wine and nature, and more over to our vines embosses and characterizes our philosophy. We consider our wines as ambassadors of our unique winegrowing region reflect a perfect symbioses of our climate and terroir. Our objective is simply quality. We grow our vines on the slopes of the Tuniberg in perfect climatic conditions for viticulture on the unique terroir 15 kilometres south west of the regional capital Freiburg. Our ambitious family Estate is highly awarded and recommended in numerous international wine challenges such as DECANTER, AWC Vienna etc..

WÜRTTEMBERG The Estate Sun, peace and nature - that distinguishes the individual situation Beilsteiner Steinberg. In feral state took over Gerhard Strecker and his family early seventies these known as "Amalienhof" mountain. With great use since the 30 acre ingrown from the forest mountain nature-was created. Heat-retaining and red Keuper marl and a Rebzeilenabstand of 2.90 meters ensure optimal growth conditions. The almost 400 meters, the low-fog south facing aspect allows for the longest tire of healthy grapes on the vine. Our philosophy In winemaking in the cellar is the promotion of the natural flavor characteristics of the grapes in the foreground. The traditional craftsmanship combined with experimentation are our strengths. The range extends far beyond the usual Württemberg varieties. Velvet red, Sauvignon blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon are just a few names of grape varieties that have found a home on the Steinberg. Dry and tart wines also have their place here as noble sweet mature qualities. The History The former lords of the manor Help Mountain has always been known for its ideal natural prerequisite for viticulture. Originally Beilsteiner but Steinberg was the domicile of Amalie, according to tradition, a mistress of the former lords of helping mountain. In the vernacular, it was in no time from the original "Steinberg" the concept known today "Amalienhof." And so from the winery originally founded in 1954 in Heilbronn extensors after the takeover of Steinberg's in a short time, the winery Amalienhof.

WÜRTTEMBERG The Estate Graf von Bentzel-Sturmfeder, first mentioned in a document in 1396, is located in a typical Swabian wine village - Schozach. The winery building lies between the bakehouse and the village square, topped by a small clock tower, a so-called ridge turret, above the wine press. In the baroque tasting cellar you are introduced to the history of the Sturmfeder family in the Schozach valley dominated by the cultivation of wine. Estate Graf von Bentzel Sturmfeder (45 acres) Kilian Graf von Bentzel-Sturmfeder took over the management of the family-owned winery Sturmfeder in the landmark year of 1996 the 600th anniversary of the property. Graf von Bentzel (born in 1970) prepared for this task by completing an apprenticeship as a winegrower followed by internships at several wineries abroad (USA, Austria). It was during this time that he set himself an ambitious objective: The terrain of the Schozacher Roter Berg has so much potential that premium wines can be produced there, he says. Therefore he passionately approaches this task and puts a lot of effort into it, knowing that he will be rewarded by the enjoyment of the wine. Luxury foodstuffs such as wine have to be produced with pleasure is his philosophy. Cellarer of the Sturmfeder winery is Holger Matz. From an early age he witnessed the different stages of the winegrowing process at his parents vineyard in Löwenstein. Later he completed a classic training as cellarman followed by studies at the State Institute and Research Station for Wine and Fruit Growing in Weinsberg and a degree as winegrower and cellarmaster. Together Graf von Bentzel and Matz try to implement innovative ideas, relying on their many years of experience in traditional viticulture. Both feel a commitment to the family tradition of creating conventional wines with an individual touch. The philosophy My philosophy is easily explained: The vineyard is the origin, in which the treasure is sought and unearthed with all efforts at the right harvesting time. Healthy, essence-rich grapes are vinified into varietal wines or presented in a composition of a cuvée. Kilian Graf von Bentzel-Sturmfeder

FRANKEN Viniculture over generation Winegrowing in our family reaches back into the year of Since 1998 we, Susanne and Hugo Brennfleck, have been running the family estate in the 13th generation. The connection of tradition and innovation is particularly important to us. Tradition and Innovation It is the felicitous symbiosis of tradition and innovation which makes us and our vineyard so special. This is reflected in both our vines and the architecture of our property. A successful mixture of traditional experience, latest viticultural techniques and patience forms our labour. Low harvests, selective vintage by hand for the benefit of a high and continuous wine quality give a clear, distinctive and expressive profile. Franconia The acreage of 6051 hectare is divided into three divisions, into 23 large situations and 216 single lays. The Main triangle around Würzburg is the heart of this area. Here the vines prosper on the shelly limestone soils. Due to the distinct continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters, the vineyards are predominantly located at scattered scarps above the Main and at keuiper soils on the Steigerwald s west slopes. In the west of lower Franconia the new red sandstone can be found. Our vineyards are located in Sulzfeld as well as in the communes of Rödelsee, Escherndorf and Iphofen. With our winegrowing estate we manage an acreage of 22 hectares. Along with the known white wines and red wines we also sell franconian sparkling wine and distillates. Vine varieties Silvaner is our opportunity... nowhere else this vine thrives and prospers as manifoldly and expressively as here in Franconia. As generations before us we devote particular attention to the Silvaner, which we grow on approximately 50% of our acreage. Typical Boxbeutel bottle

FRANKEN / BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG For Johannes Deppisch, a fifth generation winemaker, the passion for wine is in his blood. He combines decades of experience with fresh ideas. Careful attention to the environment and handling of grapes is a long standing tradition at the Deppisch wine growing estate. Tender care of the vines assures healthy growth and a good crop. A piece of Mainfranken: Along steep slopes lime and red sandstone mix. Stone walls, up to five meters high, and the river in the valley provide a unique backdrop. Our vineyards reflect the diversity of the landscape. The grapes have a distinctive character. Harvested and produced by hand they enjoy a worldwide reputation. Top quality from Franconia, distinguished wines with fruity elegance. We are a large family of wine makers. Each one of us loves the wine and all the work we put in is a labor of love rewarded by our exceptionally fine wines. Teamwork is what we are all about it is a thing of honor and not only during the harvest. Working hand in hand in all areas of wine making is of utmost importance. We strive for top level production to achieve top level quality. Johannes Deppisch says: My co-workers are my most important capital. Their hands, and most importantly, their input are essential to the success of the Deppisch wines. Franconia s superb soil conditions along with a mild climate produce unique wines. Wine is like a good conversation: exciting, inspiring and never the same.

SACHSEN Historical outline of the saxon wine growing area: Within the history of German viniculture, the Saxon wine growing area is one of the youngest and with its 450 ha is the smallest wine growing area in Germany. The prevailing continental climate with 1,800 hours of sunshine and with about 600 mm rain per year, always involves the danger of late frost and strong winter frost. The vineyards of this cultivation area are situated at approx. 51 degrees latitude, thus being the most north-easterly area of Germany. History: Weingut Schloss Proschwitz is the oldest and also the biggest privately owned winery in Saxony. Approximately 90 hectares of vineyard are flourishing on an up to six meter thick loess/loam layer, which is on top of massive granit and syenit rocks. In particular our white wines uniquely reflect the terroir of the Proschwith vineyards with their intense fruitiness and minerality at the finish. Saxony is one of the smalles wine growing regions in Germany and has the lowest average harvest yield per hectare. The wines are therefore unique and rare. Made in Saxony! That is the passion of the estate. The grapes, influenced by the continental climate and long sunshine, are vinified by Chief Wine Maker Jacques du Preez. He has expertly managed the cellar at Weingut Schloss Proschwitz since Through gentle pressing of the grapes as well as cool and long fermentation the wines can develop authentic personalities reflecting the character of the grape variety, terroir and winery. Our wines are the result of the unique interaction between vineyard, climate and the people working at our winery. We endeavour to keep the vineyards as natural as possible creating a balance that ensures a sustainable continuation of the winery for forthcoming generations. Weingut Schloss Proschwitz is the first Saxony based winery to be granted membership of the VDP (the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).

1. Wine-Growing District Germany 1.1 There are 13 specified wine-growing regions, each of slightly different climatical and geological conditions with their own specific culture, history and picturesque landscape. A wide range of them are located in the proximity of a river and the wine takes on the river s name. The rivers are: AHR, MOSEL, SAAR, RUWER, NAHE, RHEIN, ELBE, SAALE, UNSTRUT The regions of some wines and their originating names: AHR, BADEN, FRANKEN, HESSISCHE BERGSTRASSE, MITTELRHEIN, MOSEL, PFALZ, RHEINHESSEN, RHEINGAU, SACHSEN, SAALE-UNSTRUT, WÜRTTEMBERG. Most of the wine-growing areas are located in south-western and southern parts of Germany, apart from two smaller eastern regions The mild CLIMATE in these regions enables grapes to ripen gradually and to retain their acidity as they develop sugar. In Mediterranean wine regions the weather conditions are more stable then in Germany where the summers are not always the same in temperature and rain fall and consequently the quality and quantity of grapes harvested vary with the weather every year. Nevertheless due to raising temperatures the past 15 years, nearly every vintage in Germany has been good or even very good. The rivers have a positive influence on the ripening procedure by heat retention and reflection, humidity and the mist and fog later in the year that rise from the rivers and protect the grapes from early frost. The soils influence the body and flavour of the wine. Long ripening periods enhance the content of minerals and trace elements in the wine. Depending from the region, the soil can be of volcanic origin, slate, marl and shell limestone or loess and loam characteristics providing a specific flavour, taste and bouquet to the wine.
