2 Christmas Food Fair & Tasting Day Saturday 24th November 10.00am-5.00pm If you have never tried any of our home produced turkeys, beef or gammon then this is the event not to miss. We will have our award winning stuffing s, quiches and delicious handmade puddings to try before adding to your order. We will also have our favourite suppliers tasting their wares and there s mulled wine and nibbles to get you in the Christmas spirit. We have a lovely day and it s one our regular customers and staff look forward to so put the date in your diary! Seasons Greetings If you are already familiar with our tried and tested ordering system, the method of placing your order does not change, placing your order in our books with a team member, allocating you an order number, date and time of collection and paying a small deposit. Again this year you will also find this brochure listing the most delicious and popular meats, dishes and treats at Christmas that we have available to order and an accompanying order form to help you pick the right food for your festive time. PLACING YOUR ORDER Our turkeys and other seasonal food is always popular so we recommend you place your order in good time; you can do this between now and 15th December. Here s how 1. Sit back and relax - choose your seasonal food. 2. Choose the weight and type of turkey if you require turkey. Please note: As all our poultry is free range we cannot guarantee the exact size but we will try our best to meet your request just ask our staff for help. 3. Fill in the order form indicating the products you require along with your personal details 4. Place your order with our staff in our dedicated ordering system through one of the following methods*: In Store Visit the Blagdon Farm Shop friendly till staff a member of our team will be happy to help you choose your turkey and other festive meats and goodies. By Telephone Call from Tuesday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm or Sunday between 11am and 4pm. By enquiries@theblagdonfarmshop.co.uk 5. Choose a date and time of collection (1 hour slot) convenient to you, we will then give you your order number. 6. We will request a small deposit to secure your order. Orders can only be guaranteed with an order confirmation from ourselves (in person or by or post) detailing collection time and date, order number and deposit paid. 7. 4 Our own Blagdon Free Range Turkeys All our Turkeys are naturally reared outdoors here on the estate in grass paddocks. They are free to forage and roam but also have the option to come indoors of an evening should the weather become inclement or if Mr Fox takes too much of an interest in them. All our birds are raised slowly and to full maturity using traditional and sensitive farming methods. This slower growth and dry aging produces a delicious dense meat and good fat cover making them moist and tender with great flavour. A much moister meat which can t be beaten. All our poultry is prepared for you by hand on the estate & comes oven-ready with giblets and a sprig of herbs. The centrepiece of the most important meal of the year! Our two breeds of turkeys are naturally reared outside in a grass paddock here at Blagdon where they are free to roam. Our turkeys take up to 24 weeks to mature, rearing them slowly produces a delicious dense meat and good fat cover making them moist and tender with great flavour. The Blagdon Bronze Turkey Has a slightly darker, more finely grained meat. The Rolls Royce of turkeys! The Blagdon Traditional White Turkey Is moist but with a subtle flavour, great for families. All our turkeys come to you hand dressed, oven ready with giblets and a sprig of herbs in a convenient carrybox. As all our turkeys are free range we cannot guarantee the exact size but we will try our best to meet your request just ask our staff for help. The bronze turkeys have dark feathers so you may occasionally find some dark quills under the skin. This is perfectly natural and should disappear on cooking. 6 Blagdon & Other Free Range Poultry Blagdon Free Range Turkey Butterfly Our turkey butterflies are from our free range turkeys so they really are the best butterflies around! These are pure turkey breast meat, boned and rolled for you by Mick our skilled butcher for your convenience with no wastage. Great to add to your shopping if you have extras for Christmas Day or we can cut the joint to your requirements if there are just a few of you. 8.63/lb ( 18.99/kg) Goodmans Free Range Goose After many years of trying we have managed to bring to Blagdon what we believe to be the tastiest Geese in the whole of Britain. From the Heart of England at Great Witley, Worcestershire, Goodman s Geese are traditionally reared on an extensive Free Range system. They graze freely in large grass paddocks, are able to run around and stretch their wings and are fed on completely natural foods with wheat and straw. They are hung for 7-10 days to enhance texture and flavour. The geese are presented in a carry home box with fresh herbs, giblets and a recipe card. 6.34/lb ( 13.95/kg) Local Free Range Duck Reared slowly in grass fields less than 20 miles from us here at Blagdon using traditional methods to give a fantastic depth of flavour. 4.69/lb ( 10.32/kg) Free Range & Other Chickens We will have a selection of birds available in a range of sizes for the big day. POA (please ask our butchers) Blagdon Free Range Guinea Fowl These are truly free range. Originally a game bird, guinea fowl has a flavour similar to that of chicken but it has a hint of gaminess. 7 Beef Joints Blagdon Rare Breed and Traditional Beef Here on the farm we have Rare Breed Belted Galloway and White Park cattle herds that live on the meadows and wetlands on the farm. We also source some beef from other trusted farmers and suppliers in Northumbria. We start maturing our beef for Christmas in the final week of November, as we understand that certain cuts require a longer time to mature than others. Our expert butchers take great care and nurture our beef to ensure it s as tasty and tender as it could possibly be for you. It is selected, cut and prepared with care and skill using traditional, as well as some more innovative methods and packed to your requirements. Please ask our butchers for any advice regarding cuts or sizes of beef, we are only too happy to help! Carvery Rib With a deep, rich flavour, this Christmas favourite is our best seller year in year out. With just the right amount of fat and matured to perfection it s a perfect alternative to a Christmas bird /kg Wing Rib Of Sirloin A fantastic on the bone cut of loin of beef and aged to perfection 19.99/kg Rolled Sirloin The tenderest of the roasting joints and with a lovely, light cover of fat, this is just the joint for those who enjoy a little bit of luxury at this special time of year /kg Topside of Beef The traditional Sunday roast favourite, but great at this time of year. Cooked medium rare it returns a delicious gravy and also represents great value for money /kg Beef Steaks Fillet of Beef What can we or indeed need to say about this cut? Super tender and yet full of that delicious Beef taste, what sometimes is forgotten is its versatility. Family sized Wellington anyone? 54.99/kg We take great care in selecting our prime cuts, as well as maturing each individual cut to its perfect age. Belted Galloway beef is favoured by many celebrity chefs with Michael Bateman from the Independent saying "A few days ago I ate a steak which I d like to believe is the taste of beef to come. The meat was a rib of a rare British beast, a Belted Galloway..The Galloway had a silky texture it was as tender as meat has any right to be, its juices keen and appetising. Morris Graham who farms near Thropton produces some of the most sought after lambs in the county and we feel very privileged to be one of his stockists. Unlike most butchers we hang our lambs for up to 7 days which helps to tenderise the meat as well as giving a deeper, richer taste. Leg Of Lamb Favoured by many as their Sunday roast of choice, this family favourite lends itself to simple roasting. Simply make a few deep cuts to the joint, add a few whole garlic cloves /kg Shoulder Of Lamb With a little more cover (fat) than the leg, this is our favourite joint from the lamb. Cooked for as long as possible on as low a heat as possible, the meat will literally fall off the bone /kg Pork Joints We couldn t imagine Christmas without a succulent Pork roast, with crisp, salty crackling.
