3 INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg 2 tbsp milk 1 tsp vanilla 1 3/4 cup flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 cup sugar for rolling 48 miniature Reese's cups unwrapped and frozen 96 candy eyes 1/2 cup chocolate chips RECIPES Halloween Peanut Bu er Spider Cookies 1. Preheat oven to 375. DIRECTIONS 2. In a large bowl, beat together shortening, peanut bu er, egg, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and milk. 3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. 4. Gradually add dry mixture to wet mixture and beat un l blended. 5. Form into 1" balls. 6. Roll in sugar and place a couple of inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. 7. Bake minutes or un l golden. 8. Immediately, gently press an upside down frozen peanut bu er cup on top of each cookie and move to wire rack to cool. 9. A er placing and moving all of the cookies on the wire rack, put in place the candy eyes while chocolate is s ll slightly so. 10. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to allow cookies to firm. 11. Put chocolate chips in the corner of zippered sandwich bag. 12. Microwave for 20 seconds, knead and repeat un l chocolate has melted. 13. Clip ny piece off of the corner of bag to allow for piping and draw eight legs on each spider cookie. 14. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to allow legs to set. Dirt Pudding Cups With Gummy Worms Recipe Instruc ons 1. The first order of business when making worms in dirt is, of course, to make the dirt. 2. Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a large zip-top plas c bag, and use a rolling pin to crush them into small pieces. Don t worry about removing the cream filling before pu ng the cookies in the bag at first they will clump together, but as you con nue to crush them, the cream will blend with the cookies and you won t even no ce it. 3. Con nue to crush the cookies in the bag un l they are in fine crumbs. A few larger pieces are okay, too a er all, dirt comes in different sizes! 4. Next, make the pudding. Pour the dry pudding mix into a large bowl, then add the cold milk. Whisk everything together un l all of the dry pudding dissolves and it s smooth and free of lumps. 5. Let the pudding sit for about 5 minutes, un l it thickens and is no longer liquid. If it has the deligh ully gloppy texture of pudding, you re ready to go on. 6. Add the whipped topping and approximately half of the cookie crumbs. You don t have to measure, just eyeball half the bag and pour it in. 7. Gently s r everything together un l the streaks of whipped topping disappear, and the cookies are well-mixed into the pudding. 8. Divide the pudding mixture evenly between eight cups each should hold a li le over ½-cup of pudding. You can fill them however you d like I prefer to use a large ice cream scoop because I think it s a li le neater and faster that way. 9. Tap the cups on the countertop a few mes to level the pudding, then insert 3 gummy worms into the pudding and press them down a li le so that they re embedded. 10. Pour the cookie crumbs over the pudding and gummy worms so that the en re top is covered with dirt. Smooth it into an even layer with your hands. Ingredients 1 15-ounce package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos) ounce package chocolate instant pudding 2 cups cold milk 8 ounces whipped topping (like Cool Whip) 24 gummy worms SPANA-PARK SENIOR CENTER PAGE 3
