At 5:00 pm, we ll enjoy Roast Beef, Red Potatoes, Baby Carrots, Cabbage and Peach Pie. We ask a suggested donation of just $5.00 per person. After dinner The Sundown Band will share their musical talents. Transportation is available and pre sale tickets are on sale at both the Defiance and Hicksville Centers. They will speak about Medicare Basics and Part D ( the prescription drug program). After the speech, people will be on hand to assist us in answering questions and choosing a plan. 3 Hicksville Happenings -October FREE GROCERY SHOPPING TRIPS Each Thursdays at 12:00 noon The Hicksville Senior Center will provide transportation to Walmart and Meijer on an alternating basis. List shopping services are also available. Please call Linda for details TOE NAIL CLINIC IN HICKSVILLE will be Wed., Oct. 3rd. There is a $15 fee payable to the nurse. The Matter of Balance FREE educational series will continue each Monday and Friday throughout October. Learn how to make small lifestyle changes that will reduce fall risks and increase your strength and balance. Seniors Night Out - Tuesday, October 9th - we ll leave the Defiance Center at 4:00pm and enjoy a delicious supper at The White House Inn. Call Dawn to make your reservation after October 1st Thursday, October 11th - The Consumer Protection Agency from Ohio will join us at 1:30pm inform us about Senior Scams. Gain valuable information on the latest scams and how to protect ourselves from those who would steal from us. Tuesday, October 16th - A Speaker provided by AARP and OSHIIP will join us at 9:30am. Commodities Supplemental Food Program Food for Seniors - Touching Lives, Filling Needs Each month The C.S.F.P. Program provides eligible seniors, age 60 and older, a package of approximately 50 pounds of USDA basic nutrient-rich food. The next distribution date is Wed., Oct. 24th 1:00 pm -2:30 pm. Our Thanks to the Stark family of Stark s Plumbing and Heating for purchasing a hog at The Defiance County Fair, having it processed and donated to the Senior Services Nutrition Program. We also thank the Kohout family for donating a 104 pound watermelon! This was cut and enjoyed by many. We are so grateful that both the Stark family and the Kohouts thought of donating to Defiance County Senior Services.
