3 Dear Friends, What a great start to a great new year! It s been cold outside, but toasty warm inside with activities and entertainment. You ve no doubt noticed that we have welcomed new residents in the past few weeks. I want to sincerely thank you for being such welcoming and helpful neighbors. I know it is appreciated. Hope to see more of you at the next set of resident meetings. I open the floor to discussion about the community in general, Heather will meet with you to talk about dietary topics, and Amanda wants to hear about activities you d like. We encourage you to attend; have a voice in what happens in your home. The Tanglewood staff works hard to ensure your home is safe, sound, healthy and happy. February is the month of love. In addition to romantic love, there is agape love. The author, C. S. Lewis uses agape in The Four Loves to describe what he believes is the highest level of love known to humanity: a selfless love that is passionately committed to the well-being of others. Anglican theologian O.C. Quick writes of Agape: If we could imagine the love of one who loves men purely for their own sake, and not because of any need or desire of his own, purely desires their good, and yet loves them wholly, not for what at this moment they are, but for what he knows he can make of them because he made them, then we should have in our minds some true image of the love of the Father and Creator of mankind. Crackers Chocolate Mousse STAYING HEALTHY IN THE WINTER Eat healthy a plant based diet is best. Lots of salads, fresh fruits and veggies, and smoothies. Stay Hydrated - You may not feel as thirsty in the winter, but you still need to drink a lot of water. Get Plenty of Rest Try to go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Resist the urge to nap if that interferes with your sleep at night. Mediate Making time for prayer, reflection and mindfulness every day will help you cope with the stresses you face. Keep Moving Walking, Yoga, Dancing (yes! Dancing!) stretching, light weights are all great, low impact options. Stay Involved! Interacting with friends, neighbors and family is so important to your state of mind. Don t be afraid to learn something new!
