3 Hello Everyone, I am so excited for this summer! We are off to a great start! If you joined us on the Pontoon boat, thank you. It was so much fun. If you missed it, don t worry, we will be doing it again! We have a few new things on the July calendar that I m really looking forward to. Tanglewood strives to promote healthy living. I have become a believer in the power of essential oils to ease anxiety, help with sleep problems and overall well-being. We are pleased to offer an Essential Oils program for Tanglewood residents, family and caregivers that focuses on oils that are particularly helpful to seniors. Of course, we ll have refreshments as well join us at Tanglewood on July 28 4:30. The Walking Club is beginning a new adventure. We are strapping on a pedometer and walking to Daytona, Florida with prizes and parties along the way. Amanda will host a refreshing water station for everyone. You may have noticed the prayer board on the wall in D hall. You are encouraged to jot down concerns on your heart and know that we are raising them up in prayer. Check out our new T-village store! It s in the front office area, kind of like at a hotel. Dana has been working hard assembling essential items and over the counter medications, most at $1. Your suggestions are always welcome! 4 Kathy Goodwin Join us in welcoming Kathy s smiling face to Tanglewood! If you haven t had a chance to greet her, please do. She has a warm heart and is a delight to talk with. Born in Decatur, then moving to Long Creek, Kathy graduated from Mt. Zion High School. She worked at ADM for a few years and at the Long Creek Village until she was 80 years old. Wayne Goodwin caught Kathy s eye and in 1951 they married and had five amazing children. Two are legal secretaries, one is a school teacher, one is an air force midwife and one a train engineer. Kathy says the thing that she likes the most about living at Tanglewood Village is that everyone is so friendly and has been so welcoming. We are happy to have you part of the community. Iva Hogan We are pleased to welcome Iva to Tanglewood. She was born and raised in Illinois. Iva was married to Carney at age 16 in She and her husband raised 3 wonderful children. Iva worked as a seamstress for 11 years before she and her husband moved to Rock island for 20 years. They moved back to Decatur in 1980 and bought a lovely home where she has lived until her move to Tanglewood Village. Iva sold Avon for more than 50 years and recalls visiting Tanglewood when it was a nursing home. Her mother-in-law lived here. She sold Avon to many people and would always came back through years, but says this is the best she has ever seen it and loves the people here. She says the staff and residents have been wonderful to her and would like to send out a big thank you! Iva, we are so happy you are here with us!

7 ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCMENTS July 2017 Prayer group added in July Please join us on Friday, July 14 to share joys and concerns, and raise our community up in prayer. Our group will lift up concerns on the prayer board, making room for more prayers. Walking Club walking to Daytona Beach! Yep, you read it right! Let s track our steps with new pedometers and have fun while increasing our stamina! Collect prizes along the way, share progress with family & friends and watch for weekly updates on our Tanglewood Facebook page. This is going to be an exciting adventure to better health! Tanglewood Store Open for Business! - if you find yourself in need something and can t or don t want to get out to the store, check out the T-village one stop shop! We just may have what you are looking for! Lindsey Hermann will be coming back to work to help with activities! We ve missed Lindsey and couldn t be happier that she is back home at Tanglewood. Wii Games A reminder that while Wii games are not scheduled, the system is ready in the Sunroom for your use. Please make yourself at home and get a group together for a game anytime! If you don t know how to set it up, ask at the desk! There is so much going on in the Decatur and surrounding area. If an activity or outing idea comes up that isn t on the schedule, let us know and we ll try our best to make it happen. For example you suggested a trip to Arthur and we ll be going in July!
