1 Welcome to Bistro Vinden at Vinden Estate Our Mantra: Life is too short to eat bland food. We Strive to: Use our own herb and vegetable garden where possible. Use Seasonal Produce. Change our menu with each season. Utilise recipes from nations across the world where we believe we can stimulate you appetite and please your palate. If you are in a hurry would you please note that all of our food including in particular the main courses are freshly cooked for you, so please allow 20 minutes for most main courses. We hope you enjoy this season s selection and welcome your feedback. We invite you to take a walk through our vineyard and down to our vegetable garden. 3 Entrées Antipasto A traditional Italian antipasto with our own seasonal marinated vegetables, including slow roasted tomatos, mushrooms, capsicum, stuffed Spanish onions, stuffed eggs, accompanied by prosciutto and salami, and served with fresh sourdough. (GFO) (we may add other seasonal vegetables on the day). A great way to start a spring day. Entrée $20.00 Main $30.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Chardonnay or Alicante Bouschet Grilled Zucchini with Pine Nuts, Currants and Fetta This is a recipe stolen from one of my favourite chefs, Andrew McConnell of Cumulus Restaurant in Melbourne. Normally I run a mile from vegetarian food but this is simply delicious which even my carnivore family is always asking to be prepared. (GF) Entrée $18.00 Main $28.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate 2012 Verdehlo Caramelised Witlof with Serrano Ham Caramelised Witlof topped with a mixture of breadcrumbs, parmesan, thyme, cream and Serrano Ham and then baked. Entrée $19.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Alicante Bouschet or Semillon Chorizo & Garlic Prawns Chorizo sausage accompanied by garlic prawns and flavoured with smokey dried chillies, a dash of dry sherry and lightly toasted bread for dipping. Entrée $20.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Chardonnay Paté Traditional homemade pate served with bread and cornichons. (GFO) Entrée $17.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Alicante Bouschet Soup of the Day Ask the wait person for the Soup of the Day. This can range from a Charred Aubergine with lemon and basil, Tomato, Cumin and Egg Soup, Mushroom Soup, French Onion Soup or a Potato and Leek Soup. (GFO) Entrée $20.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Verdehlo Greek Salad Our own variation of the traditional Greek Salad made with cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, capsicum, parsley, oregano and fetta. 4 Main Meals Bistro Vinden Seafood Our signature dish, taken off briefly, however put back on by popular demand. This is our signature dish based on an old Croatian seafood recipe. A bouillabaisse style dish comprising prawns, crabs, mussels (can vary depending on what is seasonally available), tomatoes, Vinden Estate Semillon and served with crusty bread. (GFO) Main: $36.00 Wine recommendation: Any Vinden Estate Semillon Duck Confit Traditionally prepared duck leg, slow roasted with juniper berries and thyme accompanied by our own delicious Asian sauce and seasonal vegetables Simply scrumptious. Main $32.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Chardonnay or Merlot Beef with Asian Mushrooms Beautiful eye fillet steak marinated with 5 spices, served on a variety of seasonal Asian mushrooms in a special Asian sauce and accompanied by a garlic ginger kumara mash Main $35.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Basket Pressed Shiraz Roast Lamb Rack A rack of lamb oven roasted accompanied by potato mash and seasonal green vegetables, topped with goat cheese and a dash of horseradish. Hard to beat at any time. (GFO) Main $35.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Merlot or Shiraz Barramundi Steamed Barramundi with ginger, garlic, soy, chicken stock, spring onion and more. A full flavoured Australian fish served with bok choy and potato mash. Main $35.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Chardonnay or Semillon or SSB Chicken Cacciatore Second time only on the menu and one of the chef s favourites. (GF) Chicken thigh fillets cooked with salami, olives, onion, tomato, prosciutto and chicken stock. Sounds a bit quirky but a beautiful flavoursome dish accompanied by polenta. Main $34.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Merlot Southern Indian Curry topped with slices of fillet steak This is an amazing Southern Indian Curry. Sliced tomatoes topped with rice and curry including tomato, mustard seeds, curry leaves, garlic, ginger and a multitude of other ingredients and finished off with thin slices of lightly grilled fillet steak, fetta and watercress. (Can be done as a vegetarian dish without the steak). One of my all time favourite curries. (GF) Main $35.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Shiraz Please Note: Our Chef prefers to slightly undercook your meat as it will continue to cook on your plate. If you wish your meat to be further cooked this of course can be organised.

5 Vegetarian Grilled Zucchini with Pine Nuts, Currants and Fetta This is a recipe stolen from one of my favourite chefs, Andrew McConnell of Cumulas Restaurant in Melbourne. This is delicious with even my carnivore family always asking for it to be prepared. (GF) Entrée $18.00 Main $28.00 Wine recommendation: Vinden Estate Chardonnay Spiced Chick Peas Normally I would not rave about anything that does not include meat, fish or chicken, however, my daughter being a vegetarian thinks this is delicious and I agree with her. Almost verging on a curry with chick peas accompanied by ripe tomatoes, coriander, cumin and a dash of chilli with lots of colour and flavour. (GF) Entrée $18.00 Main $28.00 Wine recommendation: Anything white and unwooded such as Vinden Estate Verdelho or Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Southern Indian Curry This is an amazing Southern Indian Curry Sliced tomatoes topped with rice and curry including tomato, mustard seeds, curry leaves, garlic, ginger and a multitude of other ingredients and topped with fetta and watercress. One of my all time favourite curries.
