5 Phi Beta Lambda News Cupcakes and Crush Feb. 5 th -12 th Cupcakes and Crush in the spirit of Valentine s Day will be sold in the lobby of the student center. There will be three different cupcakes available and two different Crush sodas available. The Cupcakes and Crush will be delivered on Valentine s Day to your special someone. Profits earned from the fundraising will go towards our local chapter s trip to nationals. National PBL Week Feb. 11 th -15 th In honor of PBL s timeless tradition, our neighborhood Phi Beta Lambda chapter will be hosting several events. On the 12 th PBL will be making a trip to a Hindman Elementary Kindergarten Class to create Valentine s cards with children. PBL will be hosting a social in the conference room of the business building on the 13 th. There will be snacks, drinks, and the opportunity to find out more out about Alice Lloyd s Phi Beta Lambda chapter. -PBL Reporter: Aaron Dotson ALC EDUCATION MAJORS Applications are Now Being Accepted for the Student Teacher Award Education majors who plan to student teach during the Academic Year that is either the Fall 2013 Semester or the Spring 2014 Semester have an opportunity to apply for a Student Teacher Award which is sponsored by members of the Alice Lloyd College Class of This is a $ Cash Award which is intended to help with personal expenses (travel, professional clothing, supplies, etc.) which will be incurred during the recipient s semester of student teaching. R.A. Applications Available for fall, 2013 Any ALC resident student who would like to apply for a resident advisor position for next fall can pick up an application in DSC 205. (Students who applied and were interviewed last semester do not have to re-apply. You just need to let M. Stumbo know that you are still interested in a position). 7 SGA MINUTES SGA Minutes February 8, 2013 Absent Members Brad Baker, Chris Bowen, Chelsea Kitchen, China Riddle, and Kiana Hall Office Hours Representatives need to be present in the office at their scheduled time. Hot Drinks The hot drinks bar will be returning outside of the SGA office (2nd floor DSC). Valentines SGA will regretfully not be making/delivering Valentines for the local nursing home due to scheduling conflicts. February 28 th SGA is planning an Open Mic Night in CAC, so come show your stuff at the talent show! Proposals The following are proposals waiting to be completed and signed: Safety Council Meeting as convocation, possibly required. This meeting would raise awareness of procedures to be taken in situations of danger. An addition another treadmill to the weight room, as well as the replacement/repair of a current machine. March Events On the 14 th there will be a St. Patrick s Day dance as well as Easter baskets for the nursing home on the 28 th. April Event All-campus cookout to be determined depending on weather. Spring Formal Dance The date for ALC s Spring Formal is March 23 rd. The resident advisors sponsor this special event and would like to have student input in the planning. Students can vote for their preference of themes for the formal on Thursday, Feb. 14 th and Friday, Feb. 15 th in the DSC foyer.

The areas of ALC campus not mentioned above are entirely smoke-free. Note: Smoking while walking on campus is not allowed.
