1 Agriculture Farm-to-School Program to celebrate Washington agriculture on September 28 th with. Schools in our district and around the state will serve a locally Wenatchee Valley and surrounding Columbia Basin. The menu is: Chicken Fajitas featuring Walla Walla sweet onions and a trio of sweet peppers Black Bean Mexican-style Rice Chipotle Sweet Roasted Veggies (three kinds of baby potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots, green beans & Walla Walla sweet onions) Mixed Bean & Veggie Salsa or fresh Mexican Cabbage Slaw featuring heirloom tomatoes and fresh herbs Roasted Potato & Tuna Salad with Washington potatoes and fresh Washington eggs Super Salad Bar or Mexii Chef Salad with Washington greens, cheese, eggs & tomatoes Washington grown fruits: apples, pears, nectarines, plums, peaches & pluots will be a great opportunity for our students to try some of these

Our menu: ASIAN BAR: Bahn Mi Wraps, Red Curry, Stir-fried Veggies, Jasmine rice or noodles JEEPERS IT S BAGELS: Personal Pizzas SPEEDWAGON: Paella Rice and Chicken Wraps, Black Bean and Corn Salsa GRAB and GO: Chef Salad or Garden Salad Veggie Wrap or Energy Wrap MIDDLE HOT BAR: Local Apple Crisp Washington-grown Roasted Potato, Carrot, Onion & Corn combination Green Beans or Zucchini SALAD BAR: Carrots with tops, Cherry tomato mixture. 4 TASTE WASHINGTON DAY AT PIONEER September 28, 2011 The Wenatchee School District, as a Fresh Food in Schools Project district is joining with the Washington School Nutrition Association (WSNA) and the Washington State Department of Agriculture Farm- to- School Program to celebrate Washington agriculture on September 28th with TASTE WASHINGTON DAY. Schools in our district and around the state will serve a locally grown school lunch and provide activities for students to learn about the farms that feed us. Wenatchee School District nutrition program is working with local farms like Cloudview Ecofarms, Yaksum Canyon Truck Farm, Smithson Ranch, T&T Farms, and McManus Orchards to provide students with delicious meals made from locally grown ingredients from the Wenatchee Valley and surrounding Columbia Basin. The TASTE WASHINGTON DAY menu is: Spanish Chicken Ole w/vegetable Paella Baked Cheesy Chicken & Zucchini Glazed Carrots (served w/both hot entrees) Mexi Chef Salad or our Super Salad Bar, we will be featuring a Black Bean Chili, as well as farm fresh whole carrots w/tops, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Nacho Bar featuring Fresh, Homemade Garden Salsa Beef & Bean Burritos featuring Homemade Garden Salsa TASTE WASHINGTON DAY will be a great opportunity for our students to try some of these fresh, tasty foods grown by our dedicated local farmers.
