3 TRADITION Combier is the oldest distillery of the Loire Valley still in activity nowadays. In 1825, Jean Baptiste COMBIER arrived in Saumur. He first opened a confectioner s shop and began to make some liqueur for some of his sweets. With the invention of the Triple Sec in 1834, this activity quickly exceeded the first one. Since 1848, J. B. COMBIER declared himself as distiller and fruit-liqueur maker and gave up his activity as confectioner. He rented the site of the present factory and produced his creations: "TRIPLE SEC (an orange liqueur) nowadays named Original Combier ELIXIR COMBIER (a plants liqueur) Today the company has kept its nature and carries on the elaboration of its liqueurs according to the same recipe and the same process used in the XIX century: these characteristics are the best guarantee for high-quality products.
4 KNOW-HOW Renowned for the distillation of oranges (Triple Sec, Blue Curaçao, etc ), we also produce fruits liqueurs with the method of maceration. Fruits are selected by COMBIER in the Saumur country side. We also produce fruit liqueurs, aperitif (Pastis, Guignolet ) and syrups. Since 2007, we have a developed a range of organic syrups (NOP and CEE certified).
5 DYNAMISM Always in search of new tastes, new presentations, ready to adapt our products to our customers expectations. Every year, new products and new packagings are introduced to the market. For example, we have just released: a red fruit liqueur, a roses liqueur, wormwoods a new range of organics syrups.
6 A FAMILY-OWNED COMPANY Being family owned means we are a small efficient and motivated team focused on delivering the best products and the best service. Adaptability is also one of our strong points. HIGH-QUALITY STANDARD The quality is obviously key for both the packaging and the product inside the bottle, but not only... The quality of the relationship with our partners -both customers and suppliersis at the basis of our business philosophy. We can't produce great spirits without qualitative suppliers and we can't expect to have any kind of success on the markets without great importers, distributors, on & off premise operators,
7 PORTFOLIO The Combier distillery was founded in 1834 in the Loire Valley by Jean- Baptiste Combier. Since the creation of the Original Triple sec, the distillery has never stopped producing distinguished liqueurs and other spirits in the same original copper stills. Along the way, new products have been created and we are offering today a full range of liqueurs, aperitifs, absinthes, syrups and organic syrups. 9 L ORIGINAL COMBIER Orange Liqueur (Since 1834) Hsitory/Recipe: Created in Saumur in 1834, Combier Liqueur d'orange is the original crystal clear orange liqueur with a recipe that has remained unchanged for nearly 175 years. It is composed of a harmonious blend of exotic sun-dried orange peels from Haiti and sugar beets from northern France, steeped in alcohol and triple distilled in the very same copper stills first used by the Combier family itself. This orange liqueur, the first of its kind, has been widely copied but none of its imitations can rival its unique taste. Taste l Original, taste Combier. Tasting notes: It may be served as it is, with or without ice, and is enjoyed by young and old alike. It also may be served in cocktail and makes an excellent base for a Margarita. A twist of lemon will enhance the freshness in the mouth and after-taste. Our Orange Liqueur may also be used to compliment desserts, pancakes and ice-creams, and is a perfect match for orange-based dishes such as Duck à l orange Technical information: Alcohol : 40% 70 cl or 75 cl bottles, cases of 6 (8 Kg per case), 100 to 125 cases per pallet. New : a 35 cl bottle
10 ROYAL COMBIER Grande Liqueur History/recipe: Royal Combier was created in 1910 by James Combier. Much appreciated by connoisseur drinkers in Europe it is a blend of Combier s old Elixir Combier, a type of cure-all medicinal plant drink very fashionable in the 19 th century and distilled sweet-orange liqueur and Cognac. Its primary elixir base is strictly prepared following Jean-Baptiste Combier s Elixir Combier recipe, a bitter tasting plant-based recipe typical of 19 th century elixirs. Following James Combier s 1910 changes to his father s original recipe, several spices including Angelica, Saffron, Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Cloves are added to the elixir base. Following James Combier s 1910 indications, a separate distillation of sweet-orange spirits is added to soften the original plant-based infusion and create a sweeter, subtler liqueur where final character is bestowed by a touch of Cognac. Tasting notes: Light golden brown with a very slight hint of green. Sweet, with delicately sustained orangey notes balanced against a distinctive taste of plants. Complexity reveals itself slowly on the palate where spices including Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Saffron are easily detected and a hint of nuts is noticeable on the finish. Subtle and well balanced, it leaves no sugary after-taste. Best if slightly chilled (10-12C): - Cocktail Base: its complexity offers a wide range of applications in cocktails - Digestive: straight in a chilled glass or on ice. Cognac-snifter glass. - Cooking: sweet/salt; "flambées" (crepes, duck); desserts (orange, chocolate, nuts) Technical information: Alcohol : 38% 70 cl or 75 cl bottles, cases of 6 (8 Kg per case), 100 to 125 cases per pallet. 11 L ELIXIR COMBIER History/Recipe: Jean-Baptiste Combier s acclaimed 19 th century liqueur is an exotic blend of herbs, plants and other botanicals from France s Loire Valley, Africa, India and Southeast of Asia. After having been discontinued for decades since its creation in 1852, decision has been taken to reintroduce this distinguished liqueur using Combier s old distillery s very own private archives. Tasting notes: Combier Elixir is best enjoyed on a quiet night in the company of good friends or as a modifier to your favorite cocktails. Technical information: Alcohol : 38% 50cl bottles, case of 6.
12 BLANCHETTE Absinthe Blanche - White Absinthe Hsitory/Recipe: To produce the today's Blanchette we still follow the same original recipe elaborated by Combier at the beginning of the 1900s. Blanchette is a Swissstyle, clear absinthe that yields a distinct aroma and flavor of anise and grande wormwood, with a background of alpine herbs. Blanchette is crafted entirely by hand in the antique copper absinthe stills in the Combier distillery. Awards: Cuillière d Or 2006 aux absinthiades de Pontarlier. International Wine and Spirits Competition, London Silver Tasting notes: Absinthe is to be enjoyed like a Pastis i.e. using 6 to 10 volumes of water for 1 volume of Blanchette. If need be, sweeten according to the tastes, by pouring some fresh water on a sugar put on a spoon above the glass. Technical information: Alcohol : 60% 20cl (packed in cases of 20), 50cl and 100cl bottles, packed in cases of 6
13 PASTIS D ANTAN History/Recipe: Pastis is a drink very well known and very much consumed in France. Its essential ingredient is Anis (Badiane). Pastis is born from a very ancient association of the Anis seed with around ten different other plants and spices including cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, white and olak peppers, mugwort, and centaury. Pastis d Antan Combier is produced using only the strictest traditional methods and prepared by combining separately distilled Anis and Liquorices spirits with an herb and spice infusion. This Pastis contains absolutely no caramel and no sugar whatsoever. Its taste and color are entirely natural. Pastis d Antan Combier is a handcrafted product of exceptional quality, with the genuine characteristic of leaving the mouth unspoiled to enjoy a meal afterwards. Tasting notes: Slightly darkish yellow with a tinge of green. Liquoricey, peppery, and very cool and fresh in mouth, freshness sustained on the palate with a taste of medicinal-like plants. Keep the bottle at room temperature and avoid chilling. For aperitif : 6 to 10 fresh water volumes for 1 volume of Pastis d'antan. Absinthe traditional Method: requires water-pitcher and absinthe spoon. Serve 1 volume of Pastis in a tall-glass, place a sugar cube on absinthe spoon and pour 6 to 10 volumes of fresh water over one sugar cube and into glass.
