3 NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 25 th AUGUST 2016 OR ON SHOW DAY. Entry fees 20p per entry and must be received with entry form. Children s classes free. Conditions relating to Subscribers to the Society will receive the following:- o Subscribers of 9 shall receive one membership badge and car to showfield. o Subscribers of 16 shall receive two membership badges and car to showfield. o Subscribers of 20 shall receive two membership badges and car to showfield and free entries. o Subscribers of 45 shall receive two Vice President badges, car to showfield and two luncheon vouchers and free entries All exhibits must be Exhibitor s own work. Any previous First Prize exhibits in this section are not eligible to compete again. Exhibits to be staged by 9.30am. Judging will commence at 10.00am. No exhibit to be removed before 4.30pm. All prize money to be collected on Show Day. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners at approximately 4.00pm in the marquee. All cakes to be exhibited on white paper plates. The committee will not be held responsible for any losses or damage incurred to any exhibits. Entries are to be displayed in numerical order and at the stewards discretion. Judge s Choice - Beetroot Cake Class 25 Raspberry & Almond tray bake Ingredients 250g S.R Flour, 50g ground almonds, 200g butter(diced), 280g golden granulated sugar, 50g desiccated coconut, 2 medium eggs, 400g 500g fresh or frozen raspberries. Method You will need an oblong tin 31 x 17 x 3cm Oven temperature 180c / Fan 160c/ Gas 4 1. Mix flour, ground almonds, butter and sugar in food processor and blend until butter is evenly distributed, alternatively rub together by hand. 2. Remove 3oz / 85g of the mix, stir in coconut and put to one side. 3. Add the eggs to remaining mixture, whisk quickly or mix with wooden spoon. 4. Spread the mixture over base of tin then scatter half the raspberries over top. Sprinkle the coconut mixture and bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and place the remaining fruit over the surface and cook for a further 15 minutes or until firm to touch. 5. Cool in the tin and cut into slices / squares and present on paper plate. Class 26 Beetroot Cake Ingredients 7oz plain flour, ¾ tsp bicarbonate of soda, ¼ tsp salt, 4 ½oz light brown sugar, ½ tsp vanilla extract, ¾ tsp baking powder, ¾ tsp ground cinnamon, 2oz dark brown sugar, 3 large eggs, ½ pint sunflower oil, 8oz raw beetroot, peeled and coarsely grated, zest of ½ an orange. Icing 2oz unsalted butter, zest of ½ an orange, 4oz icing sugar (sifted), 4 ½ oz Philadelphia cream cheese, orange zest Method 1. Preheat oven to 180c / 160c fan/ gas 4. Grease and line the loaf tin. 2. Sift flour, baking powder, bicarbonate soda, cinnamon and salt into a mixing bowl. Add the sugars. 3. Beat together the eggs, vanilla extract and oil. Pour onto the flour mixture and beat together until smooth. Add the grated beetroot and orange zest and beat again. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake on the middle shelf for 40 mins. Turn the oven down to 170c/150c fan/gas 3 and bake for a further 20 mins or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the middle of the cake. Leave to cool for 10 mins
