2 SHOW RULES 1 Exhibits may be staged between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm on the evening before the show, and between 8.30 am and am on the Show Day. Entry cards to be collected when staging. The Hall must be cleared for judging at am. Exhibits must not be removed before 4.30 pm. Items not removed will be disposed of. 2 All entries to be sent to the Secretary (Karen Hardy, Magnolia House, Sherborne, DT9 6HT) in writing and with the entrance fee, by 8.00 pm. Wednesday 8 August. NOTE: NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED. 3 Exhibit fees for all Classes: 30p - children free. 4 All exhibits must be the property of the Exhibitor. All flowers, fruit and vegetables must be the growth of his or her own garden (except in Classes 30-35). Anyone known to violate this rule shall not be allowed to compete in this or any future Show. 5 NO EXHIBITOR IS ALLOWED MORE THAN ONE PRIZE IN ANY CLASS. 6 All exhibitors to supply necessary plates, dishes, vases etc. 7 No person allowed in the Hall during the period of judging, except those officially engaged. 8 In the Collection of Vegetables, the number of each variety must be the same as required in the Open Class for a single variety. 9 All Root Vegetables may be cut, except Potatoes. 10 Prizes will be awarded, withheld or reduced according the merits of exhibits, and such awards will be at the discretion of the Judges. 11 By 'Local' is meant Leigh and Batcombe Parishes. 12 Handicraft must be the competitors' own work. 13 Class Cards must be fastened to all Needlework and Knitting. 14 The Committee do not hold themselves responsible for Exhibits. 15 All matters not met by the Rules will be decided by the Committee. 16 Entries must NOT have been exhibited at this Show before. SECTION 4 - FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS - OPEN Flowers may be brought for all classes 30 Collection of garden flowers in an unusual container. Max Size 18" x 18" (45 x 45 cm). 31 Arrangement of five flowers in one colour. Max. Width 12" (30 cm). 32 Arrangement of foliage and/or grasses. Max. Cooking time 1hour INGREDIENTS 125g (4 1/2 oz) self-raising flour 100g (3 1/2 oz) wholemeal self-raising flour 150g (5 1/2 oz) demerara sugar Pinch of salt ½ tsp cinnamon ½ tsp nutmeg 2 large ripe bananas 175ml (6 fl oz) orange juice 4 tbsp oil 2 large eggs You will also need 450g (1lb) loaf tin, greased and lined. METHOD 1 Preheat oven to 180C/350F. Gas mark 4. 2 Sift flours, sugar, salt and spices in large bowl. 3 In a separate bowl, mash bananas with orange juice. Stir in eggs and oil. Pour in dry ingredients and mix well. 4 Turn into a prepared tin. 5 Bake in pre-heated oven for about 1hour or until brown and shrinking away from sides/springy to the touch. 6 If browning too quickly, place foil lightly over the cake.
