Brown Cup Winner Class 20 Flower Section 3 Blooms 8oz plain flour Pinch salt Marmalade Cake Summer Show Item 32 2 oz Caster sugar 1 tsp orange zest 1 tbsp baking powder. 2 eggs beaten 4 oz butter 3 tbsp orange marmalade Prepare a 1 lb loaf tin. 2-3 tbsp fresh milk Sift flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl. Rub in butter finely. Add sugar and orange zest. Mix to a fairly soft batter with eggs, marmalade and milk. Transfer to prepared tin and bake at 180ºc (350ºf) Gas mark 4 for 1¼ to 1½ hours or until a wooden cocktail stick, inserted into centre, comes out clean. Leave in tin for 5 minutes, turn out onto wire cooling rack and peel off paper. Store in an airtight container when cold. Page 2 Page 11

Dough Mixture 8oz Self Raising Flour Mock Chelsea Buns Summer Show item 31 Page 10 Filling 1 oz butter 3 oz Butter 5 oz mixed fruit 1 oz Sugar 2 oz Demerara sugar ¼ Pint fresh milk Recipes 1 oz glace cherries, chopped 1 tsp mixed spice Dough: Sieve flour into a bowl and rub in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add sugar and mix in milk to give a soft dough. Filling: Melt Butter and stir in mixed fruit, Demerara sugar, cherries and spice, mix well. Method: Roll out dough on a floured work surface to 10 x 12 inches. Sprinkle Filling over dough to within ½ inch of edge. Dampen edges of dough with water. Starting from longer edge, roll up and cut into 8. Place cut sides down on a greased baking tray and bake at 200ºc (400ºf) Mark 6 for 15 to 20 minutes. Rules and Conditions 1. Entries in Amateur Sections of both shows are restricted to those exhibitors who are not and have not been professionals in that section. Exhibitors must be AMATEURS in their Class. 2. Any objection raised as to the qualification of an exhibitor shall be dealt with by the Flower Show Committee and its decision shall be final. 3. All Pot Plants must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least Six months, All other exhibits for at least Two months, except in the Domestic Section and where stated. 4. All entries should be submitted on the relevant entry forms. Entries for the Spring Show will only be accepted on the day of the show from 9 am to am Entry forms for the Summer Show should be submitted to the Flower Show Secretary, together with the entrance money, not later than 3 pm on Friday 6 th August Entries will be accepted on the day of the show with the entry fee doubled and must be staged by am 5. Entry fees will be 15p for all classes. 6. The Hall will be open from 9-00 a.m. to a.m. and no entries will be accepted after this time. 7. One entry per person in any one class. 8. Exhibits are not to be removed from the tables before the Prizegiving. 9. The Flower Show Committee will not be held responsible for any damage that may occur to the exhibits. 10. All cup winners to hold trophy for eleven months. All cups must be returned to the Show Secretary one month before the Show. 11. Prizes : 1st - 30p 2nd - 25p 3rd - 20p 12. The judges are empowered to withhold any award at their discretion. Page 3
