2 2018 RULES OF ENTRY 1 Trophies, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the exhibitor who gains most points in the division unless otherwise stated. Trophies to be cleaned and returned prior to the next show. 2 In the event of a tie, the entrant with the greatest number of exhibits in the associated division will be awarded the trophy. 3 Points awarded; 5 for a first; 4 for a second; 3 for a third and 2 for a highly commended. 4 Exhibits not to have been shown at this show before. 5 The same exhibit may not be entered in more than one class, nor may an exhibitor enter more than one exhibit in the same class; 6 The judges may withhold any prize if they consider the exhibits unworthy. 7 Classes may be merged at the discretion of the committee and judges. 8 The judge s decision in all matters is final. 9 Div B & C entrants must reside within the New Forest District Council area. Exhibits must be the produce of the exhibitors own garden or allotment. 10 For Floral Art exhibits: The cut ends of living plant material must be in water or moisture retaining material. 11 Entries Accepted until 8pm on Wed 18th July Exhibits to be staged, ready for judging, before 10am on show day. Please do not remove exhibits before 4.30pm on show day. 13 The committee do not hold themselves responsible for damage or loss of exhibits ENTRY FEES First four entries at 50p each, additional entries 30p, maximum 5. Junior classes are FREE to enter. Late entries may be accepted with the committees discretion at 1 each. (Cash, or cheques/po made payable to Bashley Village Hall) PRIZES THROUGHOUT; first = 1, second = 60p, third = 30p. PRIZE MONEY will be available from 4pm until 5pm. Any prize money not collected by 5pm will be returned to funds. Division A for the Alan Rice Trophy Class 1 A basket or covered box suitable for a gift: To contain six different items of your choice from; home grown flowers, fruit and veg, home produced items, preserves, home baking, confectionary or craft. 2

Div B entrants must reside within the New Forest District Council area. Class 12 Violas, 3 blooms in one bowl, vase or display box. Class 14 Gladiola, one spike, any cultivar, in a vase. Class 15 Hardy herbaceous perennials in flower, 3 kinds, 2 of each, one vase. Class 16 Hardy annuals in flower, 3 kinds, 2 of each kind, one vase. Class 17 Pot plant, flowering, pot not to exceed 9 in diameter. Class 18 Pot plant, foliage, pot not to exceed 9 in diameter. Class 19 Cactus, one plant, pot, ½ pot or pan not to exceed 8 in diameter. Class 20 Succulent, one plant, pot, ½ pot or pan not to exceed 8 in diameter. Class 21 Flowering shrub, not more than 3 cut sprays, in one container. Class 22 Container of flowering plants (pot, trough or basket). Division C FRUIT & VEGETABLES for the Ingrem Tankard, the Linn Trophy and the Jean Lees Shield Rules Entries must be the produce of the entrants own garden or allotment. Div C entrants must reside within the New Forest District Council area. Class 23 3 Onions with tops & roots (washed out). Class 24 5 Pea pods. Class 25 A brassica (cabbage, cauliflower etcetera). Class 26 5 Runner or broad bean pods. Class 27 5 Carrots with tops. Class 28 5 Potatoes. Class 29 5 Spring onions with roots (washed out). Class 30 3 Beetroots. Specialising in trees, hedging and shrubs, plain and simple. We grow larger evergreens for coastal planting which can give instance cover, some up to 10 litres in pot size. We grow a lot of our own plants such as Griselinia, Bay, Evergreen Oak and Elaeagnus and of course Christmas trees. Recipe for class F57 FRUIT & HONEY CAKE 225g / 8oz butter, softened 225g / 8oz honey, clear 150ml / 5floz fresh whipping cream 4 eggs 225g / 8oz Greek-style yogurt 100g / 4oz self raising flour to decorate fresh fruit 100g / 4oz wholemeal self raising flour 1. Prepare two sandwich tins, approx 20cm/8inch. 2. Cream butter and honey together until pale and creamy. 3. Beat in eggs separately with a spoonful of flour 4. Fold in remaining flours. 4. Divide between prepared tins. 5. Bake at 180 C / 350 F / Gas 4 for 25 minutes. or until firm to the touch. 6. Cool in tins for 5 minutes. then cool on a wire cooling rack. 7. Whip cream until softly stiff. 8. Fold cream into yogurt 9. Sandwich cakes together with half the mixture and half the fruit. 10. Decorate with remaining cream mixture and fruit. 6
7 Recipe for class F59 COFFEE & WALNUT COOKIES Makes cookies 50g / 2oz walnuts, finely chopped 100g / 4oz butter. softened 100g / 4oz flour 50g / 2oz caster sugar 2 tsp /10ml instant coffee powder 1. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. 2. Add walnuts. Stir in flour sifted with coffee powder. 3. Put teaspoons of mixture, well apart, on a greased baking sheet. 4. Bake at 190 C / 375 F / Gas 5 for minutes. 5. Leave to cool for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack. Recipe for class F60 MOCK CHELSEA BUNS Makes 8 buns 225g / 8oz self raising flour 75g / 3oz butter 25g / 1oz sugar 150ml / 1 /4 pint fresh milk 25g / 1oz butter 100g / 4oz currants 50g / 2oz Demerara sugar 25g / 1oz mixed peel 25g / 1oz glace cherries, chopped 1 tsp / 5ml mixed spice 1. Sieve flour into a bowl, 2. Rub in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. 3. Add sugar and mix in milk to form a soft dough. 4. Melt butter, then stir in currants, sugar, peel, cherries and spice. Mix well. 5. Roll out dough on a floured work surface to approx. 25x30cm / 10x12in. 5. Sprinkle fruit mixture over dough to within 1cm / 1 /2 inch of edge. 6. Dampen edges of dough with water. 6. Starting from a longer edge, roll up and cut into Place cut sides down into a greased round loose-bottomed tin, to form a ring - with one round in centre. (Tin approx. 23cm / 9inch) 8. Bake at 200 C / 400 F / Gas 6 for minutes. Recipe for junior class K2 QUICK MIX CHOCOLATE CAKE 140g / 5oz Self raising flour 2 eggs, large 3 tbsp cocoa/drink choc. 1 orange grated and juiced 1 teasp baking powder 5 tbsp corn/sunflower oil 110g / 4oz caster sugar 3 tbsp milk 1. Pre-heat oven to 190 C / Gas 5 / 375 F. 2. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder into a bowl. 3. Stir in sugar and orange rind. 4. Mix In eggs with fork. 5. Add orange juice, oil and milk, beat until smooth. 6. Pour Into a cake tin (approx 7'), lined and oiled/greased. 7. Bake above centre of oven for about 30 minutes until firm and springy. 8. Leave In tin for five minutes before turning out. 7

Class K2 Baking - Quick mix chocolate cake. follow recipe on page 7. Class K3 Photography Animal(s) Class K4 Handwriting - a verse or poem of your choice, minimum 20 words. Class K5 Art or Craft - Mask of a monster. Division L Age 6 to 8 for the Des Feltham Cup Class L1 Floral art - in a teacup Class L2 Baking - 3 biscuits/cookies on a plate (food items must be covered) Class L3 Art - a drawing / picture of a fire engine. Class L4 Craft - an item made from recycled materials. Division M Age 5 and under for the Village Hall Cup Class M1 Floral art - a miniature garden in a tray. Class M2 Baking peppermint creams (food items must be covered). Class M3 Art - a finger painting of a butterfly. Class M4 Busy Bees Pre-School only - Art - a painting of a caterpillar.
