1 DRAFT WILLINGHAM HORTICULTURAL SHOW 72nd ANNUAL SHOW WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY 29th SEPTEMBER 2018 IN WILLINGHAM VILLAGE HALL OPENED AT 3.00PM FOR THE EXHIBITION OF FLOWERS, FRUIT, VEGETABLES, CAKES, ETC. Prizes presented at 4:15 pm By Admission to the show 50p Adults, 20p Children. Auction of produce to follow presentation of prizes The Aggregate Cups will be presented to the Child and Adult with the overall highest points. The two runners up will receive 2.00 each. Entries taken on Wednesday 26 th September between 7:00 & 8:30 pm All exhibits must be staged in the Hall before 10:30 am on Saturday 29th September 1 DOMESTIC SECTION The Susan Bingham Cup ~ For the most points in the Domestic Section Class 1a Four pieces of flapjack, made by a man.

2 1b Four pieces of flapjack, made by a woman. 2 Four macaroons with butter cream filling. 3 Four fruit scones. 4 Four coconut tarts (with jam filling.) 5 Bakewell tart on a flan dish, not to exceed 8. 6 Tea loaf (from recipe supplied). 7 Victoria sponge, not to exceed 8 with jam filling only. 8 4 sausage rolls, short crust pastry. 9 Four squares of carrot cake (from a tray bake). 10 Loaf of bread (machine made). 11 Loaf of bread (hand made). 12 Six eggs. Tea loaf Ingredients: 1lb (400g) Sultanas, 1 mug hot black tea, 1 mug soft brown sugar, 2 mugs self-raising flour, 1 egg, beaten. Method: Soak the sultanas overnight in black tea. Next day, pre-heat oven to 160C/325F/gas mark 3. Mix together all ingredients (including tea), then place in a 2lb (800g) loaf tin or round cake tin. Bake in the oven for 2 hours. 2 PRESERVES SECTION The Oliver Cup ~ For the most points in the Preserves Section Class 13 Jar of plum jam, any variety (not damson). 14 Jar of strawberry jam. 15 Jar of raspberry jam. 16 Jar of jam, any variety except plum, strawberry or raspberry. 17 Jar of marmalade. 18 Jar of mincemeat. 19 Jar of lemon curd. 20 Jar of jelly. 21 Jar of onions in vinegar. 22 Jar of pickles in vinegar, any variety except onions. 23 Jar of chutney. Jam to be in a clear, unmarked jar, max 16oz with cellophane top or plain plastic tops. Pickles to have unmarked plain plastic or acid proof tops. 3 JUNIOR DOMESTIC Cup for winner: The John Cope Memorial Cup ~ For the most points in the section CLASS 24 Jar of jam, any variety. 25 A gingerbread person. 26 Four cheese scones. 27 Three decorated digestive biscuits. (bought biscuits) 28 Coffee sponge cake, with butter cream filling but undecorated top, not to exceed Three muffins. Exhibitors to be aged 16 or under. Age to be stated. 4 FRUIT SECTION The Spencer Cup ~ For the best exhibit in the Fruit Section

3 & The Hudson Cup ~ For the most points in the Fruit Section CLASS 30 Three cooking apples, any variety. 31 Three dessert apples, any variety. 32 Specimen cooking apple. 33 Specimen dessert apple. 34 Collection of three different varieties of apples, one of each variety (dessert &/or cooking). 35 Three pears. 36 Specimen pear. 37 Punnet of mixed fresh fruit. Min. 3 varieties of fruit. 38 One bloom (in a vase) and one fruit. 5 VEGETABLE SECTION The Spiller Cup ~ For the best exhibit of Vegetables & The J.W. Bingham Cup ~ For the most points in the Vegetable Section CLASS 39 Three best onions over 1/2lb each in weight. 40 Four onions up to 1/2lb each in weight. 41 Six shallots. 42 Best vegetable marrow. 43 Heaviest marrow (one prize only). 44 Four potatoes, one named variety. 45 Four cherry tomatoes. 46 Four tomatoes. 47 Best truss of tomatoes. 48 Six runner beans. 49 Longest runner bean (one prize only). 50 Three red beet (round), tops cut down to Three parsnips, tops cut down to Three carrots, tops cut down to Three leeks. 54 Heaviest pumpkin (one prize only). 55 Any other vegetable - one specimen only - not to include vegetables in classes inclusive. 56 One misshapen oddities vegetable (one prize only). 57 Selection of vegetables suitable for a family of four for Sunday lunch. The artists name to be hidden by the exhibitor Entrance fee - 10p per entry (No fee payable for entry into children's classes, but children entering adult classes will be charged.) PRIZE MONEY First 40p, Second 30p, Third 20p RULES OF THE SHOW 1. All classes are open to amateurs only. 2. The exhibitor must have grown all specimens, except classes in the Floral Art Section. Persons infringing this rule will be disqualified and excluded from all exhibitions in the future. 3. All entries will be accepted at the Hall on Wednesday evening, 26th September 2018 from 7 to 8:30 pm, by the Secretary, or may be sent by post to the Secretary on or before 28th September ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE MAY BE REFUSED 4. No exhibit may have been shown at a previous Willingham Show.

7 5. Exhibitors are allowed any number of entries in each class but may take only one money prize. 6. The Village Hall will be open to exhibitors to stage their exhibits on Friday 28th September 2018 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and also from 9 to 10:30am on Saturday 29th September The Show will be open from 3pm and NO SPECIMEN MAY BE REMOVED before 4:30 pm without permission. 8. The show committee will not be responsible for any damage that may be done to articles exhibited. 9. Exhibitors to state on number tickets whether articles are for sale or not. 10. The First prize in any class may not necessarily be awarded unless there are at least 2 exhibits, the Second unless there are at least 3 exhibits etc. All prizes are at the Judges discretion. 11. Prize money shall be paid in the hall at 4:15 pm. Prize money not claimed by the Wednesday after the show will be put into show funds. 20. All exhibits will be sold unless reserved at time of entry. The produce, which is for sale will be auctioned after presentation of prizes at 4:15 pm. Proceeds to the show funds. 13. Aggregate Cups: First prizes count - 3 points, Second - 2 points. Third - 1 point. 14.
