2 Edwardian Opulence Welcome to the Cranbrook History Centre, a unique venue perfect for that special day when your Happily-ever-after begins. While the main building is fairly new, it houses an exquisite gem from the Edwardian era. The Royal Alexandra Hall was once the Grand Café from the Royal Alexandra Hotel, built by the Canadian Pacific Railway in Winnipeg in Though the hotel was demolished in 1971, the room and fireplace were saved. The hall is a sophisticated and lavish space filled with ornate designs in the baronial style. The neutral interior is a perfect compliment to any colour scheme with minimal decorating needed. As it is a historic venue, renters are asked to use stand-alone decorations. Please refrain from attaching any decorations to walls or light fixtures. Lit candles and open flames are not permitted in the room, while LED candles are. 2

Locations for the head table, dance floor and DJ can vary; however, the emergency exits and catering kitchen doors must be kept clear at all times. 6

7 Planning a Menu The Catering Kitchen is not equipped for food preparation, so the caterer chosen must be able to prepare the food off-site before transporting it to the museum. Included is a sample list of caterers to aid in planning for that special day. 7
