7 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Burgundy 2011 Domaines F - L Date & place of tasting shown in italics Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges Mercurey Blanc Clos Rochette Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The fruit on the nose is ripe and the palate starts with rich fruit. Although the mid palate is fresher lots of apple and a touch of citrus there is ripe greengage that enriches the back palate and finish. Meursault There is a lot of sweet fruit on the nose and richness of flavour on the palate. Under the honeyed melon and greengage apple gives freshness and a slightly lighter feel to the finish. Meursault 1er Cru Blagny Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June 2013 There are hints of sweetness on the nose but the palate is light dry mineral with citrus freshness. The touch of honey on the back palate is suppressed by the citrus and apple and the flint mineral at the back gives hardness on the finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 There is mineral flint freshness on the nose with nice fresh fruits on the palate. Slightly sweeter fruit gives richness in the middle and more weight towards the back but the finish is lighter racy apple and flint driven. Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru There is a lot of rich fruit on the nose and a powerful mix of flavours on the palate. Greengage and melon flesh out the mid palate the richness balanced by the underlying citrus and apple. 8 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The nose has the freshness of lime and lemon with an attractive fragrance. The fruit on the palate has sweetness more of a greengage character but towards the back the freshness takes over with minerals and shale, slightly salty with a long seamless finish. Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru The honeyed richness is backed by freshness depth of fruit on the nose with the powerful mix on the palate refreshed by layers of citrus and apple. The back palate has a hint of brioche and the finish has richness of flavour. Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June The nose has a minty quality fresh fruited with lots of citrus. There is a sweeter feel on the palate ripe melon backed by greengage but it seems really quite light salty and citrusy on the back palate. Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru The nose has a powerful mix of flavours and the fruit on the nose is deep lots of greengage and ripe melon. The freshness towards the back adds to the complexity but it is the sweet fruit that fills out the finish. Mercury Rouge 1er Cru Cos de Myglands Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 Both nose and palate are quite light with more of a red than black fruit influence. There are attractive fragrances a slightly sweeter richer feel towards the back but a light fresh red fruited finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots Domaine Faiveley Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The nose has a mix of flavours sweet red fruits and some richer black. The start of the palate has good depth of flavour the richness backed by fresher red fruits that leaves the finish lighter and elegant. Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June There is a gamey quality about the nose with a mix of bramble and fresher raspberry. Layers of fruit give complexity with the gaminess coming through on the back palate. Although sweeter in the middle the freshness comes through leaving the finish firm yet there is ripe black fruit that will show with time. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers Domaine Faiveley Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The nose is fresh light and slightly hard. The red fruits on the palate give freshness underpinned by lovely rich ripe black fruits that flesh out the back palate. Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June The nose is quite light with peppery bramble summer roses and red fruits. The mid palate is fresh vibrant lots of red cherry and mulberry and although slightly sweeter at the back the finish has redcurrant and mineral freshness. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos des Issarts The red fruits on the nose are fresh fragrant and quite light. The mid palate is richer still red fruited but the fruit is sweet and feels ripe and there is a nice depth of flavour on the back palate and finish. Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru Domaine Faiveley (Monopole) Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The nose is fresh with bilberries and redcurrants but the palate is sweet fruited with a good depth of flavour. The tannins give structure but feel ripe so that the sweet fruit gives richness on the back palate and finish. Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June The black fruits bramble and black cherry have more influence on the nose backed by spices and white pepper. The palate is muscular rich sappy with power and richness of flavour all underpinned by freshness that gives the finish elegance and charm. Clos Vougeot Grand Cru The nose has a sweet mix of fruits with the black fruits tending to be more in evidence. The mid palate has red fruit freshness but towards the back there is fruit richness sweetness and depth of flavour. 10 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Black fruits enrich the nose and the palate has depth of flavour. The fruit feels ripe the sweetness enriching the mid palate and giving a fleshiness at the back. There is an underlying freshness that balances and gives complexity. Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru There is a real depth of fruit on the nose with black fruits enriching the palate. Black cherry and bramble are backed by fleshy mulberry and wild strawberry a complex mix of flavours. There is richness of fruit and power on the back palate and finish. Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru Domaine Faiveley The ripeness of the fruit gives richness on the nose and fleshy sweetness on the palate. Black fruits tend to be to the fore with behind a mulberry and red cherry mix adding to the complexity. The ripeness of the fruits fills the back palate and finish with sweet flavours. Tasted at Maison Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges June Red fruits dominate the nose an attractive mix of raspberry and redcurrant. There is more depth in the middle some richer fruit but the tannins are quite obvious at the moment tending to suppress the fruit and give tightness on the finish. Domaine de la Ferté Givry Givry Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose is quite hard with very fresh red fruits and these give a tight start to the palate. Towards the back it is richer more red cherry but the finish is very fresh quite hard and lacking depth. Givry 1er Cru La Servoisine Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 Red fruits dominate very fresh and quite light. 11 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Chablis Tasted at Lincoln s Inn December 2011 Tasted at Lincoln s Inn January 2013 Both nose and the start of the palate are quite rich but there is some citrus and apple refreshing the mid palate. Towards the back there is a mix of sweet white peach, citrus and mineral and this gives an attractive complexity. Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Chablis The fruit is fresh the nose given an extra crispness by flint and minerals. The start of the palate is light but it fills out in the middle then towards the back the citrus takes over refreshing the finish. Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons The nose has melon richness but the palate has a lean crisp fresh fruited feel with mineral shale towards the back. The fresh flavours linger on the finish. Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre Apple and flint refreshes the nose and gives a racy start to the palate. The fruit in the middle is richer some attractive sweet flavours but the back palate and finish have all the crispness of the mineral driven nose. Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côtes de Bouguerots The melon and greengage are ripe enriching the nose and the start of the palate. The middle has fresh fruit with mineral flint raciness and although towards the back the racy freshness is there the finish has depth of flavour. Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos The nose has depth of fruit with ripe greengage giving a fleshy start to palate. 12 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Domaine Jean-Philippe Fichet Meursault Bourgogne Blanc The nose has a fresh fruited charm and the start of the palate is very mineral and citrus in character. There is some mid sweetness but towards the back the mineral dominates giving a slight hardness on the finish. Meursault Chevalières Greengage and melon fill out the nose a lovely honeyed richness. The palate has depth sweetness of flavour the ripe fruit underpinned by freshness some crisp apple and lime. Meursault Les Tessons The nose is rich and deep fruited with fleshy melon and greengage giving richness on the palate. There is a nice mix of flavours some crisp apple and some richer riper greengage yet the finish is very citrus driven. Domaine Forey Père et Fils Vosne-Romanée Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières Tasted at the Carlton Club October 2014 It is very light the nose quite hard with a lack of richness and sweetness on the palate. Red fruits dominate fresh at the back and although young there is the feel of not a lot more to show. The tight tannins give firmness at the back and close down the finish. 13 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 The nose has a good depth of fruit and there is a rich start to the palate. Under the richness the mix of lime and apple refreshes and gives a slightly lighter feel to the finish. Tasted in Mercers Hall October Apple gives a lively freshness on the nose and the start of the palate is citrusy. It fills out in the middle with a good depth of fruit richness but towards the back the fresher flavours bring out a hint of nuttiness the fruit lingering on the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot There is rich ripe greengage on both nose and palate a good depth of flavour. The mid palate has freshness with hints of lime but towards the back it feels richer with sweet fruit filling out the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Vergers The nose is quite light with a lovely freshness of flavour. Although the palate starts with crisp apple and lime rich greengage underpins and gives more depth on the back palate. The finish though is racy and fresh fruited. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de Murées The fruit on the nose is rich with lots of ripe greengage and melon filling out the palate. The richness has a balancing freshness some crisp apple but it is the greengage that shows at the back enriching the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée The nose has depth of flavour rich fruit and the start of the palate has the same depth of fruit. The sweetness is balanced by freshness apple and some lime giving a lighter more elegant finish. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie The nose is tight and the start of the palate not showing a lot of fruit. There are richer flavours towards the back but the firm fresh flavours slightly close down the finish at the moment. Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru The fruit is rich ripe honeyed filling out the nose and giving a fleshy depth on the palate. There are layers of flavour sweet fruit and fresher flavours lots of complexity. The finish has depth, power and richness. 14 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 There is a lot of rich fruit on the nose and depth of flavour on the palate. Fleshy melon and greengage are backed by apple and lime layers of complex flavours. Although there is lime freshness at the back rich fruit packs out the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge The black fruits on the nose are rich and sweet but the palate is quite light very red fruit in character the freshness giving a lighter feel at the back. Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon The nose is light fragrant with red fruited freshness. There is more depth in the middle still very red fruited with redcurrant freshness giving a lighter feel on the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes The fruit on the nose is sweet a mix of red and black fruits and although the palate starts with ripe sweet fruit towards the back it is fresher and lighter. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cherbaudes The nose is light fragrant with a strong red fruit influence. Richer strawberry gives more flesh in the middle and towards the back there is a good depth of flavour. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques Rich fruit fills out the nose and gives depth of flavour on the start of the palate. Black fruits intermingle with the red a mix of bramble and red cherry and this rich mix fills out the back palate and finish. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Combe aux Moines The red fruited mix gives freshness on the nose and a bright start to the palate. The mid palate is richer with a good weight of fruit and there are some nice rich flavours towards the back. The finish is fragrant with a hint of eucalyptus. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 14

15 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Vougeots 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots The fruit on the nose is ripe a mix of black and red fruits. Sweet black fruits give richness on the start of the palate a good depth of flavour but under the black fruited power the red fruit freshness balances and gives an attractive elegance. Echèzeaux Grand Cru The nose is deep rich packed with sweet fruit and the palate has power of flavour. Black fruits dominate but behind there is a mix of mulberry and red cherry that gives a lighter more elegant feel to the finish. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru There is a fresh feel to the nose with the red fruits tending to be to the fore. The start of the palate has richness of flavour ripe mulberry and bramble and this gives depth richness on the finish. Château de Fuissé Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru The nose is firm with a mix of mineral and citrus and the start of the palate has the same flinty freshness. There is a slightly sweeter feel towards the back but the finish is lean and crisp. Pouilly-Fuissé les Brulées Although the nose is mineral driven there is sweet fruit at the back. Greengage on the palate is underpinned by lime and lemon and the finish has a racy flinty freshness. Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes There are lots of complex flavours on the nose with the richer fruit backed by mineral and shale. The mid palate has depth richness of fruit with mineral and lime giving crispness on the long finish. 16 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Tasted at Lincoln s Inn July 2013 The nose is rich with ripe pineapple and the start of the palate is sweet fruited. Under the ripe flavours there is some citrus and apple that refreshes and gives a lighter feel on the finish. Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc The nose is a bit closed but there is sweet fruit at the back. Ripe greengage gives weight in the middle with apple refreshing the back palate. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeots Apple freshness gives firmness on the nose and tightness on the start of the palate. Towards the back there is more depth with richer fruit filling out the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 1er Cru The nose is light fresh fragrant with a mix of mulberry and redcurrant. There is a sweeter feel to the mid palate but the back palate and finish are light with a fresh red fruited mix. Alex Gambel Beaune Bourgogne Chardonnay There is a mix of fresh apple and lime on the nose with richer flavours coming through on the palate. Ripe feeling melon gives way to the citrus that refreshes the finish. Fixin Blanc Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 16

17 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Although the flavours on the nose are light there is a lovely fragrance with lots of fresh lime. The mid palate has a nice depth of fruit some ripe greengage but it is the citrus and apple mix that is there at the back refreshing the finish. Puligny-Montrachet Ripe greengage and melon gives richness on the nose and depth on the start of the palate. Under the sweet fruit lime and apple refresh bringing out fragrances on the finish. The layers of flavour give complexity. Bourgogne Pinot Noir Cuvée les Deux Papis The nose is quite firm with red fruits dominating. Although the mid palate feels a bit sweeter the red fruited freshness gives tightness and firmness on the finish. Beaune 1er Cru Grèves The nose has depth of fruit black fruits underpinned by ripe mulberry. The mid palate is sweet with the richness of the fruit filling out the back palate and giving a lovely depth of flavour on the finish. Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes The red fruited mix has an attractive freshness and although the palate starts quite light the mid palate is richer with ripe mulberry and red cherry. Towards the back the mix of raspberry and redcurrant feels fresher but the finish has a richer sweeter feel. Domaine Gautheron Chablis Chablis Tasted in Lilley March 2014 The fruit on the nose is crisp and the start of the palate firm flinty citrusy. There is a slightly richer feel to the mid palate a little more depth of fruit but the rocky mineral character towards the back gives a very firm tight finish. 18 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 The nose is remarkably rich and the palate sweet fruited with fleshy greengage. Under the sweet fruit apple and citrus refresh and at the back there is mineral crispness so much a feature of Chablis. It certainly suits the lighter fish but has enough fruit richness not to be overpowered by salmon and would make a good companion to chicken and turkey. Domaine Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes The nose is tight with firm black cherry. The fruit on the palate is sweeter still very black fruit in character and this gives depth and richness on the back palate and finish. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru En Champs There is some lovely sweet fruit on the nose and ripe black fruits on the palate. The richness on the mid palate is balanced by the red fruits that show towards the back but the finish has all the fruit richness of black cherry. Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru The fruit on the nose is rich deep profound and this richness of fruit fills out the mid palate. There are layers of black fruits lots of complexity and attractive sweet flavours on the finish. Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle Musigny Bourgogne Rouge It is very light quite fragrant and red fruited but lacking richness of flavour. Towards the back it feels sweeter but the finish is lacking in depth. Chambolle Musigny The nose is fresh but very light. The mid palate has some richer flavours with a mix of black and red fruits but the finish has all the freshness of the red fruits. The start of the palate has fair depth and although the mid and back palate is quite light the fruit feels sweet. Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard Savigny-lès-Beaune Savigny-lès-Beaune Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose is fresh quite light but has attractive fragrances. The back palate is citrus fresh and although there is some sweet fruit it finishes hard and short. Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Sous Frétille Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose is very tight and the start of the palate firm and quite hard. There is richer greengage towards the back but it is the fresh fruit that tends to hide the fruit sweetness. Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose is very fresh dominated by citrus and crisp apple. There are richer flavours on the mid palate with some nice ripe melon giving a little more flesh but the finish lacks depth. Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Rouvrettes Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose is very light with fresh red fruits and the palate is lacking in depth. The back palate has fragrance just lacking in complexity and richness. Volnay Vieilles Vignes Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The red fruits have a fresh fragrant charm and the palate starts with a mix of raspberry and redcurrant. There is a little more depth in the middle but towards the back the fresh fruits dominate. Sweeter flavours give more weight and depth on the mid palate but there is lime and apple at the back giving it a lovely fresh feel. Nuits-Saint-Georges Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The fruit on the nose has a herbal note quite rich and black fruited. The mid palate feels sweet some nice rich flavours but towards the back it is lighter with the finish showing the same herbal quality. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2013 The nose has nice sweet flavours mainly black fruited and this ripeness of flavour gives depth on the mid palate. There is an underlying balancing freshness but the finish has all the fruit power of the nose. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Chênes-Carteaux The aromas on the nose are fresh a mix of mulberry and raspberry backed by a herbal note. The mid palate is richer some ripe fruit but towards the back the red fruits dominate giving lots of freshness on the finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Pruliers The nose is herbal quite earthy with a red fruited freshness. The mid palate has some sweetness but towards the back it feels fresh with red cherries leaving the finish a bit tight. Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanée Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Lavières It is light but fragrant with the freshness of red fruits underpinned by richer sweeter black. The rich fruit in the middle gives way to freshness towards the back that lightens the finish. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 20

21 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 There are a lot of powerful flavours on the nose a lovely richness of fruit. Ripe fruit gives sweetness on the palate the fleshy mulberry backed by black cherry. Echézeaux Grand Cru The fruit on the nose is sweet a lovely ripeness of flavour. Towards the back the raspberry and hint of red cherry give a lovely racy character on the finish. Domaine des Hospices de Beaune Beaune Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru Cuvée de Bahèzre de Lanlay Tasted at the Hospice de Beaune Dinner November 2014 Quite light and fresh on the nose a strong citrus character the start of the palate light apples and lime. The mid palate is richer with ripe fruit succulence honey and apricots. There is a balancing freshness on the back palate with flavours that linger. Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Rousseau Deslandes Tasted in Beaune November 2014 Eleve par Lucien Le Moins Beaune Deep with brooding black fruits the nose has richness and the palate starts with lots of ripe fruit. Fine tannins add to the mid suppleness and although lush and sweet fruited at the back the finish is slightly lighter still black fruited with more bramble and bilberry. Domaine Hudelot Noëllat Vougeot Bourgogne Rouge The nose lacks depth and sweetness of fruit and the palate is light with quite high acidity. Richer flavours fill out the palate the fruit feels sweet but towards the back the red fruits take over leaving the finish fresh and quite light yet fragrant. Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Suchots The nose is light fragrant yet has fruit richness at the back. Red fruits dominate the palate giving a fresher feel towards the back but the overall feel is one of light fragrant charm. Chambolle-Musigny Fresh fruit gives a lighter feel to the nose bringing out an attractive mix of fragrances. There is a sweeter feel on the palate more depth of flavour but it finishes quite light. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Murgers There is a nice depth of fruit on both nose and palate. Black fruits dominate their ripeness giving richness in the middle and although red fruits show towards the back the finish is rich and sweet. Romanée St Vivant Grand Cru There is a lovely depth of flavour on the nose the fruit is ripe and sweet. Powerful flavours enrich the palate layer upon layer giving complexity with the richness of the black fruits fleshing out the finish. Richebourg Grand Cru Mulberry and red cherry dominate the nose ripe and sweet yet there are underlying black fruits. The palate has depth of flavour a lovely richness but towards the back the red fruits show giving a fresher feel and bringing out the fragrances on the finish. 25 BURGUNDY 2011 August 23, 2012 Louis Jadot Beaune Mâcon Villages Grange Magnien Tasted at the Carlton Club September 2012 Greengage enriches the nose an attractive depth of flavour and this weight of fruit fills out the start of the palate. Although the mid palate is fresher apple and lime lifting the flavours the richness of fruit is there towards the back giving lots of flavour satisfaction. A Jack of all Trades that is enjoyable as a glass of wine, suits most fish dishes certainly partner s poultry and is not overpowered by pork. Savigny-lès Beaune Clos des Guettes Domaine Gagey The nose is fresh and floral with just a hint of oak. The mid palate has sweetness of fruit some creamy greengage with apple freshness showing on the finish. Saint-Aubin Charmois The nose is quite rich with ripe fruit but the palate is very fresh quite light with lots of lime in the middle. It fills out towards the back with peachy richness. Beaune 1er Cru Les Bressandes Domaine Gagey The richness of the fruit on the nose gives it a generous feel and fleshiness on the start of the palate. There is an underlying freshness good balance just slightly lacking in complexity. Meursault 1er Cru Charmes The nose has a honeyed richness but the palate is fresher with apple and lime. There is sweet fruit towards the back a more generous character and this gives weight on the finish. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chenevottes The nose is open with rich flavours a good depth of greengage fruit. The richness on the start of the palate is balanced by an underlying freshness that lifts the flavours on the back palate. It seems really quite forward. 26 August 23, 2012 BURGUNDY 2011 Domaine Duc de Magenta There are lots of rich flavours on the nose and a fair depth of fruit on the start of the palate. The freshness towards the back balances adds to complexity and gives a racy but light feel to the finish. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts There are lovely fresh flavours on the nose a racy citrus and apple character. The palate has richness a generous feel and this sweetness of fruit enriches the back palate and finish. Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru The nose is rich and there is an underlying power on the palate. The robust richness the muscular character is balanced by freshness apple and grapefruit but it is the sweet fruited power that fills out the finish. Côte du Py Morgon The nose is light very fresh dominated by red fruits. Some richer fruit is there at the start but the tannins tend to overtake and hold back the fruit and give tightness to the finish. It certainly needs time but is there enough fruit? La Rochelle Moulin-à-Vent The nose is fleshy with more of a black fruit influence. Behind the rich fruit red berries refresh and lighten but there are slightly more generous flavours at the back and on the finish. Santenay Clos de Malte Domaine Louis Jadot There are attractive fragrances on the nose all red fruit in character. The palate is light and fresh and although slightly sweeter in the middle lacks real depth. Monthélie 1er Cru Champs Fulliot Domaine Louis Jadot The nose has red fruit freshness a very floral character. The palate starts quite light with raspberry freshness but towards the middle it feels richer some ripe strawberries yet the finish is lighter with a slightly earthy character. Fresh on the start of the palate quite light but there is more depth slightly richer fruit in the middle. The maturity shows again at the back the finish lacking a bit of length. Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot Both nose and palate are light with a mix of red and black fruits. The mid palate is tight with firm tannins and although there is more fruit at the back it lacks a bit of generosity. There is a nutty character behind the red fruits on the finish. Volnay 1er Cru En L Ormeau Domaine Gagey There is a lot of sweet fruit both on nose and palate. Red fruits dominate with strawberry and mulberry an attractive mix of flavours. Under the ripe fruit there is a balancing freshness but it is the strawberry mix that fills out the finish. Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens Domaine Louis Jadot The nose is light quite hard and closed at the moment. The mix of red fruits on the palate is fresh with slightly sweeter and richer flavours towards the back yet the finish is very tight. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots Domaine Gagey The nose is light and fresh but the palate is richer with some sweeter black and red fruits. Towards the back the fresher fruits tend to dominate bringing the fragrances on the finish. The start of the palate has an attractive vibrancy yet the mid palate is quite sweet but the riper fruit held back by the leanness on the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot It is lean and light with fresh red fruits on the nose and the start of the palate. The mid palate has more depth more black fruits which feel ripe giving flesh towards the back. The finish like the nose is fresh fruited fragrant but quite light. Clos de la Roche Grand Cru The nose has a fragrant charm with lots of woodland violets. The fruit on the palate is rich profound with a mix of mulberry and black cherry. Although the tannins are firm at the moment the back palate a bit tight there is lots of sweet fruit underneath just a touch earthy. Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault Meursault En Barre Tasted at the Carlton Club February 2016 The Meursault Village wines range in styles it all depends on where the vineyard lies. Jobard vines produce wines with freshness yet sweetness bright and apple fresh on the nose the palate has more depth a ripe melon mid richness but freshness is there at the back an attractive apple and citrus mix. Domaine Claudie Jobard Rully Rully Montagne La Folie Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The minerals and lime on the nose give it an attractive crispness. The palate has depth at the start lighter in the middle and although fresh on the finish lacks a bit of depth. Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots Apple and lime give a lovely crisp feel to the nose but the fruit on the palate is richer quite honeyed. The back palate and finish is fresh very tight and rather short. Domaine Vincent et François Jouard Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne-Montrachet Vieille Vignes Tasted at the Carlton Club May 2014 Rich fruit the nose has depth greengage and the palate the sweetness of ripe melon. Although rich and fleshy in the middle there is an underlying freshness more citrus and apple at the back slightly lighter the finish has depth the richness of ripe melon. The sweetness of the fruit is nicely balanced by citrus freshness with a good length of fruit on the finish. Côtes de Nuits-Villages Tasted at the Corney & Barrow tasting Tower of London January 2013 There is a little more weight on the nose and strawberry richness on the palate. Under all of the sweet fruit is raspberry freshness that gives a lighter rather hard bitter feel to the finish. Côtes de Nuits-Villages La Robignotte Monopole Tasted at the Corney & Barrow tasting Tower of London January 2013 The nose is light but quite fragrant red fruited in character. The mid palate has some sweet fruit fresher towards the back slightly lacking in real substance with herbal nuttiness on the finish. Domaine Arnoux Lachaux Vosne-Romanée Bourgogne Pinot Fin The mix of red and black fruits is sweet and ripe filling out the nose and giving richness on the palate. There are more red fruits towards the back giving a fresher feel to the finish. Nuits-Saint-Georges There is a minty quality to the black fruits on the nose with black cherry giving a firm start to the palate. There are sweeter fruits towards the back and the finish has fair depth. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Corvées Pagets The nose has the richness of ripe fruit and the sweet bramble and mulberry fill out the mid palate. The mix of red and black fruits their sweetness enriches the finish. Echézeaux Grand Cru Ripe fruit gives a fleshy richness on the nose and fills out the start of the palate. The sweetness of the fruit is balanced by fresh bilberry with the rich ripe flavours coming through and filling out the back palate and finish. Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin Bourgogne Blanc les Chataigners The fruit on the nose is fresh a touch of citrus and apple but the mid palate has more depth with some richer flavours. The finish is light fresh fruited with good length. St Aubin 1er Cru Frionnes It is light with lime freshness quite fragrant. The fresh fruit is underpinned by sweeter flavours but towards the back the lime takes over giving crispness on the finish. St Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Apple and flint give a lovely crispness on the nose and although the mid palate is quite light the back palate has a chalky raciness just slightly hard. St Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière The nose is deeper richer fruited and these ripe flavours fill out the start of the palate. The mid palate is quite light with fresh with lime and apple backed by minerals and flint all giving a racy freshness to the finish. Saint-Aubin Blanc la Princée There is more fruit richness on the nose and some ripe greengage on the start of the palate. The back palate is lighter very hard and lacking a bit of depth. Clos des Lambrays Tasted at the Haynes Hanson & Clarke tasting Royal Society of Arts January 2013 The nose has a fragrant charm tight intense with a mix of flavours. The fruit on the palate is rich full of excitement lots of ripe flavours. Black cherry and mulberry give complexity and there is an opulent richness on the back palate yet the finish feels quite taught. The finish lacks fruit richness. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru les Cortons The nose is light yet has some attractive fragrances and the palate is lacking in richness. Lime and apple are crisp the acidity tending to give a hardness on the finish. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru les Murgers des Dents de Chien Although the nose is light there is a nice mix of flavours. There is a sweeter feel on the start of the palate but towards the back it is very fresh with little fruit showing. Puligny-Montrachet le Trezin The fruit on the nose is quite sweet but the palate rather hard and acidic lacking in fruit richness. Towards the back the mineral and apple give freshness but the finish tends to be hard and short. Domaine Sylvain Loichet Chorey-lès-Beaune Saint-Aubin Tasted at Party Ingredients September 2014 Both nose and palate have a nice depth of fruit the mid palate full of greengage and melon. Loron et Fils Fleurie Duc de Belmont Chardonnay Coteaux Bourguignons Tasted in Fishmongers Hall London October 2013 The nose is rich the palate starts fleshy and ripe fruited a lovely depth of greengage, pear and honeydew melon. Under the richness lime and apple refresh lighten the back palate and the finish is long mineral racy. Duc de Belmont Rouge Coteaux Bourguignons Tasted in Lincoln s Inn October 2013 It appears to be red fruit dominated lots of fresh flavours but the palate is richer with more of a black fruited character. Although the start of the palate seems quite light there is sweet rich fruit at the back and this gives more depth on the finish. La Lotte Chablis La Lotte Chablis Tasted at the Stone House Hotel Wensleydale September 2012 The wines from the chalky slopes (the white cliffs of Dover are the same chalk) have an attractive crisp mineral racy quality.
