2 For the past eleven years, supporters of the The Children s Home of Easton and Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society have generously sponsored the Lehigh Valley Wine Auction and Gala and have raised over two million dollars to benefit the children in Easton. These two unique events include successful auctions and celebrate special wines and the winemakers who craft them by bringing them to the Lehigh Valley community. As a Sponsor, you and your guests will be invited to join other business and community leaders at the premier Gala event this October. 3 HONORARY WINE GALA CHAIR DAVID RAMEY Ramey Wine Cellars was founded in 1996 by David Ramey and his wife Carla. After sixteen years making wine in Sonoma County, and firmly establishing Matanzas Creek and Chalk Hill wineries in the marketplace, David crossed the Mayacamas to spend six years in the Napa Valley - first as VP Winemaker for Dominus Estate and project manager for the construction of their new winery, then helping Leslie Rudd reshape the Girard Winery into Rudd Oakville. winemaking at Ramey Wine Cellars while producing wines that are of different varietals (Kerner, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Old Vine Zinfandel, etc.). These wines are also meant to be consumed when they are young and fresh. In addition to managing Ramey Wine Cellars, David enjoys consulting for a select handful of clients in the North Coast. Over the years, David has helped pioneer traditional, artisan winemaking techniques in California during a period when making wine by the University book was the norm. His efforts have helped shape the way many wines in the United States are made today, including the elimination of skin contact for most white grapes; the use of oxidized juice in making white wine; Sur lie aging of white wines in barrel; Malolactic fermentation of Chardonnay; native yeast fermentations; harvesting fully mature fruit; eliminating acidification of red wines, and bottling without filtration. 6 HONORARY WINE AUCTION CHAIRS RYAN & MEGAN GLAAB As with all good stories, this is really about a love affair. This unique winemaking collaboration is the result of our combined love for each other and the world of wines. We met in Australia working as seasonal cellar hands at Torbreck Winery. We quickly fell in love and have since been married. Between the two of us, we have worked at wineries such as Pax Wine Cellars, Peay Vineyards, Sine Qua Non, and Marcassin. Our wines for Ryme Cellars are produced at the Wind Gap winery, where Ryan is the Assistant Winemaker for Pax and Pam Mahle s newest project. created a new label called Verse Wines, as a compliment to the more esoteric Ryme portfolio. With Ryme & Verse we aspire to make honest and expressive wines that exhibit the characteristics of the variety and place from which it came. We started Ryme Cellars in 2007 with one ton of Aglianico. Excited by the intensity and complexity of this wine, we embarked on producing intriguing wines of varieties that we personally enjoy. To date we make two Vermentinos, Ribolla Gialla, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Aglianico under Ryme. In 2011 we wanted to expand our production to include some great Sonoma County vineyards that produce the type of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that we love to drink. For this task, we
