1 THE BAR Situated over two floors, Bealim House is Newcastle s first authentic distillery, bar and eatery. Home to The Newcastle Distillery and the city s only working in-house still, our venue is unlike anything else in the area. Formerly a print works, the bar s interior design pays homage to the history of the building honouring its industrial feel with wooden flooring, antique leather seating, vintage tiles and varnished brick walls. The main bar is located on the ground floor and food is served from our open plan kitchen on the first floor. NEWCASTLE GIN Newcastle Distillery, boasts the city s first commercial distillery in over two hundred years. Our still room literally touches the ancient City Wall. As with all good things, patience is the key to Newcastle Gin. It takes over seventy two hours for us to lovingly create our light floral gin using a combination of age old distilling techniques, including maceration and vapour infusion through a 450L traditional copper pot still with our vapour botanical basket. We even use Newcastle City water to take down the final new make spirit from 80% to a strong but hearty 43%. We distill with nine botanicals, Juniper, Sumac, Orange peel, Iranian Hibiscus, Rose petal, Coriander and three secret ingredients.
