De Blauwe Pauw is the place for a festive dinner or buffet, drink, barbecue, gala evening and fully organised wedding. Did you know that De Volksabdij is an authorized wedding location of the municipality of Woensdrecht? So, you can organise an entire wedding on one location: the marriage (both ecclesiastical and civil), toast, wedding cake, drink, welcome drink and dinner party. You and your guest can even stay overnight in one of our 35 hotel rooms in the abbey. Also for your business meetings such as training, meeting or seminar you can count on Volksabdij & Restaurant De Blauwe Pauw. From 2 to 250 persons can use the meeting package in one of our 7 cosy conference rooms. From December 2014 on, all hotels and restaurants are obliged to follow the new allergens law. Our chefs have previously on course for this and all the staff at the restaurant were trained. Al our dishes from the menu are described in writing about the presence of allergens. 11 Volksabdijbier, a local product on which the transboundary Brabantse Wal is proud! An abbey has of course its own beer! In September 2013 we started to develop three special beers. We contacted Jef van Laerhoven, who brewed a few years ago the beer from Essen Lampetier. After a morning of tasting we chose three different unique flavours we wanted to brew, the white blond, Saison, deep dark Stout and amber colour Dreijhop. In October and November 2013 there were the brewing days at t Hofbrouwerke in Beerzel (Belgium) under the watchful eye of master brewer Jef Goetelen. During the months November and December 2013, during 2 days the beer has been bottled. A few weeks of secondary fermentation in the bottle and on January 18th 2014, the beer was officially launched! Of course the beers can be tasted in our restaurant and can be bought at the front desk so that you can enjoy it again at home. We also sell gift packs with the beers and our own special glass. Furthermore, our beers are exclusively for sale at Gall & Gall in Hoogerheide. Saison A light blond, slightly cloudy beer with an extremely thirst-quenching character. Brewed with lager malt, spelt malt, bitter hop and two different aroma hop. This makes it a good drinkable beer with a slightly bitter taste. A well-hopped beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation in the bottle. A great beer to drink, well chilled, on a nice spring or summer day. But of course this beer is also delicious all year round. De first Saison has been brewed on October 13, 2013 and has an alcohol content of 5,6 %. Stout 4,00 Stout is a dark black beer with hearty full head. By adding lactose, it became a very soft and easy to drink MilkStout. Brewed from four types of malt and two types of hop, you can taste a mild, slightly bitter, coffee taste. Ideal during the long dark days of autumn or winter, but also during the rest of the year. Stout has been brewed for the first time on October 27, 2013 and contains 5% of alcohol. 4,00 Dreijhop Dreijhop is an amber beer (I.P.A). Flavored and scented with Amarillo and Cascade, American hops. The latter creates a pronounced fruity grapefruit fragrance and an intensely bitter aftertaste, which is characteristic for I.P.A s. The whiskey malt gives earthy undertones. Dreijhop is an interesting and tasty variety for your monthly / weekly / daily IPA-fix. Brewed for the first time on November 3, 2013 with 8,4% of alcohol. 4,00
