2 AREA ADMINISTRATOR Dear Members and Friends, Our Annual Meeting was held last month, and I now welcome Dan Eyre and Ray Welsford to our Committee. Dan is our Secretary and Ray is the Editor of the South West Genealogist. Thank you both. The Committee members were installed by local identity, Mr. Jack Daffy, Secretary of the local Cemetery, who went on to speak to us about the local Cemetery - he had some interesting stories to tell. Friends from other Groups, as well as our own members, are always welcome to insert, free of charge, requests for help with their research. Till next month. Sincerely, Marie Boyce EDITORIAL As I set to work on my first edition, many things are going through my head. Readers will notice a difference in format, as I do not have a publishing package at this stage - for the time being we will do the best we can with MS Works in a Windows 95 environment. After two and a half years as Editor, Lorraine Smith will now have more time to concentrate on her own research - congratulations and thanks, Lorraine. This month's edition contains the regular ''Warrnambool & District Historicals" for July 1897 and July 1922, compiled from "The Warrnambool Standard' by Betty Beavis. There is also the first of what will be an on-going series taken from the Pupil Registers of Warrnambool High School. Happy and fruitful reading & searching, Ray Welsford WARRNAMBOOL AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL... contributed by Ray Welsford As Secretary and Archivist for the Warrnambool College Ex-Students' Association, I have access to the original Pupil Register for the Agricultural High School, which opened its doors in April This month, I have included the details recorded for the 33 pupils who are shown as having enrolled as of opening day. The columns, other than "Comments" are quite straightforward, apart from a couple of places where damage has made a name indecipherable. The information contained in "Comments" has been added to the Register over a period of time, indicated by different handwriting, different colour ink, and similar. In all cases, "strange" spellings of words or place names are accurate transcriptions of the contents of the Register.
