Market Report up until April 203 Exchange Rates Against the $, Sterling opened the month at.57 and is down at.50 as of 8th March. against the, Sterling opened the month at.73 and ended much lower at.5 as of 8th March. Crude Oil Energy prices have been mixed in recent weeks. Brent crude oil was up on ICE London by 3% driven by earlier than expected cutbacks in Saudi Arabian production and as upcoming budget spending cuts in the US reduced expectations of domestic demand growth. Fats and Oil Soyabean oil fell in Rotterdam by 3% as the combined soyabean output from Brazil and Argentina is currently forecast to rise by 28% year-on-year to 36.5m tonnes in 202/3. However, concerns remain over the Argentine crop, as insufficient rainfall in January and February is expected to reduce yields. The South American harvest will commence in the next month. Palm oil was steady in Rotterdam, but rose in Malaysia by 3% supported by improved demand as some buyers looked to reduce costs by switching to palm oil from other more expensive vegetable oils. Also in Rotterdam, sunflower oil was unchanged, while rapeseed oil was down %. Olive oil prices stabilised in Italy and fell back in Spain by 3% following a steep increase. For lauric oils, coconut oil fell in Rotterdam by 2%, while palm kernel oil rose by 8%. Wheat Milling wheat prices were lower on CBOT by 5% as wet weather eased concerns that earlier drought may harm the Winter wheat crop in the US Southern Plains. Wheat prices also fell in Canada by 5%. Dairy Fresh milk, SMP and butter prices in Europe were mainly stable in February. EU private storage aid (PSA) butter stocks fell to 0,000 tonnes by the second week of February, down from 33,000 tonnes in mid-august 202. Gemma Webster WMP prices rose by % in the EU and Whey powder prices fell by 5%. Cheddar cheese prices increased by a further 2% in the UK, while the market was steady for most other cheeses. The price of egg products tended to fall in the EU, with liquid whole egg down by 9%. Mark Tomlinson BAKO North Western CEO, in Manchester to St Ives Charity Bike ride On the 6th May 203, Chris Billington, Jonathan and Mark Tomlinson and Stacy Lewis will be cycling from Trafford General Hospital, Davyhulme, Manchester; to the Cenotaph in St Ives, Cornwall. The ride will be undertaken in Memory of Sgt Paul Fox, 28 Engineer Regiment, who, at the age of 34, was killed by an improvised explosive device while on a foot patrol in Southern Nad Ali, Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Friday 26th February 200. The aim of the charity cycle ride is to raise funds for The Royal British Legion: SergeantPaulFoxKilledInAfghanistan.htm The relevance of the start point is the place of Paul s birth and the finish point is where a memorial to Paul stands as a testament to his bravery and sacrifice. The charity ride will take place over a 6 day period, starting Monday 6th May and finishing on Saturday th May 203. It is anticipated that a number of riders will join Chris, Jonathan, Mark and Stacy for the first and last day of the ride, all of whom will raise money towards the overall charity goal of 0,000.
