Ingredients Cake Bako Plain or Chocolate Value Crème Cake Mix g Bako Liquid Egg - 350g Vegetable Oil - 300g Water - 225g Bako Glycerine* Bako Dark Chocolate Chips* Topping Bako Caramel Fudgice Bako Cake Margarine Bako Chocolate Chips Cases Gold Cases Receive on Cake Mixes and Fudgice Recipe Place dry ingredients in machine bowl, using planetary mixer and beater. Add all liquids over 1 minute on 1st speed and scrape down. Mix for 3 minutes on 2nd speed. Add Bako Dark Chocolate Chips and mix for a further minute on 1st speed. For small Cup Cakes, deposit at 20g. 30g. Bake at approximately 180ºC. Bake on double trays, to protect the base, given the small deposit weight. The economy was showing signs of improvement at the end of July, with some recovery in the housing market, as approvals rose for the fifth month in a row. CRUDE OIL. Hopes that the global economy would emerge from the recession and demand for oil would increase have seen Crude prices rise in December, from record peaks in July last year. Although Dollar prices have moderated, the equities market is key for oil. The recent increase was blamed on the actions of a rogue trader in London and not increased demand. EXCHANGE RATES. Sterling remains stable against the Euro but the Dollar has weakened a little. Euro 1.16 as at 29th July. (1.15 last monthʼs report). Dollar 1.65 as at 29th July. (1.61 last monthʼs report). OILS AND FATS. Palm Oil futures rose at the end of July, given optimism that a global economic recovery will sustain export demand, led by orders from China, the largest consumer. It is expected that Chinaʼs consumption will remain strong from the second half of Exports from Malaysia, the second-largest producer, are poised to gain for a third month in July. A six-month rally in Palm Oil futures ended in May and prices have since fallen, as the higher production period continues. DAIRY Skimmed Milk Powder During July, the Algerian government announced that the majority of Milk Powder purchased will come from outside the E.U., mainly USA and Oceania, with a relatively small volume supplied by the E.U. This has disappointed E.U. vendors and it is therefore more likely that the E.U. Commission will extend the intervention period. Butter During July, the supply of fresh E.U. Butter has been limited, as Cream has been sold to produce ice-cream or yoghurts. The demand for fresh cream has started to decline and prices have fallen slightly, which should result in increased Butter production during August and September. Cheese - Prices have remained stable. DRIED FRUIT. Sultanas - Indications are that this yearʼs Turkish Sultana crop will yield less than last season. Grape development was affected by mildew, given rain in June, combined with high temperatures. It was already predicted that yield would be less than last year, as the 2008 crop was very good. A lower yield this year, combined with additional mildew problems, has resulted in poor development and a lower bunch count. Growersʼ expectations will be that they can emulate the high ʻ07/ʼ08 crop prices. We would normally expect aggressively priced new crop offers at this time of year. However, given the uncertainty and genuine concern about the quantity and quality of the new crop, there are no offers. Packers will not risk losing millions of Dollars, or defaulting against their contracts, as some did two seasons ago. For the past two seasons, Iranian crops have been poor. Last yearʼs crop was 40,000 tonnes, of which a large quantity was produced as Golden Sultanas, leaving a very small quantity as standard fruit. This season, Iranʼs crop is said to be much larger, possibly as high as 100,000 tonnes, which will ease demand on the Turkish Market. This may prove to be the one factor that prevents Turkish prices from moving even higher. U.S. Raisins. As happened two years ago, we expect U.S Raisin prices to be cheaper than Turkish Sultanas and Raisins, which will no doubt increase prices from todayʼs levels, as demand will be very high. Currants. A crop of around 30,000 tonnes is expected, of which 25,000 tonnes will be of exportable quality. Prices are expected be the same or a little lower than last year. COCOA. There has been little fluctuation in prices and record high Cocoa prices seem likely to persist. 13
