1 November 2018 thenewscomer CITRUS NEWCOMERS CLUB Citrus County, Florida Dear Ladies, Thanks to Bunny, Lisa and all our wonderful board members for the lovely September luncheon at Royal Oaks Country Club. The venue was great, delicious food, wonderful wait staff and, of course, you, my dear friends. Regina and Chris invited Chronicle writer, Debbie Selsavage, who is well versed on dementia to speak at our luncheon. Debbie was very informative and answered many of our questions about Dementia and Alzheimer. It is pink ribbon month for breast cancer awareness. One of our survivors, Judy, gave a brief talk on this disease and had other survivors in the audience stand. The ladies in the audience saluted them for their courage during the difficult process of fighting this disease and winning the battle. On another note Several Newcomers will be unable to attend the November luncheon because they will be traveling with tour guides Darla and Ernie to Playa del Carmen. Mexico. When I suggested to my husband that we should go too, he laughed. He said we are on vacation all the time and why do we need a vacation? What he says has some truth because we do live in paradise; but, there is something about packing a bag and pulling that passport out of hiding that excites me. Yes, I have convinced my husband that we deserve a REAL vacation, so will be joining this group. So, I leave you in the very capable hands of Barb and Sherry who will moderate the November luncheon. The November speaker, Lisa Didieri will discuss AMERICAN MADAMS which I am sorry to miss. At the October luncheon, Bonnie told us the Newcomers Activity Committee is collecting unwanted Publix, Walmart, Dollar General etc. plastic grocery bags. Apparently, there is a group of ladies who crochet these bags into bed mats for the homeless. A collection bin will be in the lobby at the November & December luncheons for bag deposit. Please start saving plastic grocery bags and remember to bring them with you to the next luncheon. This is such a small thing to do to help someone else stay warm & dry. Bonnie and her staff will transport them to the proper facility for weaving after each luncheon. Have a wonderful November luncheon and meeting! I will miss you and will see you in December. Mickey Murphy, President Michelemurphy1110@att.net 1
